I was delighted with their presence when the unfortunate death of an older cat brought us to do some browsing of the available cats that they have for adoption. You can view the list of adoptable pets on their website, and they even do horses on occasion! But, if you visit their store front in town, you can meet all the little kitties in person, and spend time getting to know them and really let them select you as their forever home. Each animal comes fixed, and the cats are even micro-chipped. Suzy Bayne is the founder and President; she is such an amazing person! She is knowledgeable and trustworthy. We had a health issue with one of our kittens and she went above and beyond anything that was expected or even required on her part to bring out kitty back into good health again. She has made a conscious effort to keep contact with us even after our adoption. Her knowledge of animals in general is out of this world. Her compassion is unworldly. I would HIGHLY recommend this business when thinking of brining a new furry friend home. If you are not in the market and want to support a wonderful foundation, they take donations to help maintain the health of their animals and there is no other business more deserving.

This was not done with conversations about facts, but with statements lacking nuance and assuming that all people who are not vets are idiots. This veterinarian may not be for you if you believe in species appropriate diets, spacing out vaccines, using titer testing, or any attempt to engage in dialogue that goes against their beliefs. I was treated like I might lick my uncleaned counter after prepping raw meats or like I might lick my fingers after picking up dog poo in my yard. On the positives, they do have good weekend availability, fairly reasonable pricing and if you are 100% on board with Western Vet medicine without need for intuition or nutritional approaches, then you will like most of them. There are some truly great people at this vet clinic & not every experience has been negative. My review is based on their unwillingness to have the pet owner be a part of the process and to not being open to dialogue about different approaches to nutrition & care options.

We took our sweet heart- Shetland Sheepdog to them on a Monday - he was bleeding profusely from his…read morenostrils. He had started bleeding on Sunday - and we could not find an emergency vet open that had available appointments - but ended up at the one in Shingle Springs - DO NOT USE THEM. It was a horrible experience with them. They took him away from us - and would not let us stay with him and put him in a cage in the back room for over an hour. They even wanted to anesthetize our boy Elgin to get x-rays of his sinus and chest. They did not seem to care that he was a senior - 13 yrs. almost - and doing that would have killed him on the table. They even had the nerve to bring us the 'orders form to sign' which had that they were going to go ahead and anesthetize him anyway - if I had not caught that on the 'form tablet' before I signed - he would have been killed at that clinic. He turned out to have an oversized heart - and a 'dark mass' in his chest. The bill was around $800 for that one visit. The doctor wanted us to go to Loomis Basin Clinic and have a CT done on him the next day - what a stupid vet - they have to anesthetize to do a CT. Do NOT use that vet!!!! The next day - Monday - we called around and found that Companion Vet Clinic had an opening to see Elgin. When we got there he had started bleeding profusely from his nostrils again. BUT, they put us in a room WITH HIM. The vet tech came in and turned out she used to be the x-ray tech at Loomis Basin and did the CT's for this type of condition - probably tumor (cancer) of the sinus. She said that he would not have made it through the CT - age and the end results would have ended his life. Furthermore, she told us that that procedure (even on younger dogs) is brutal and does not end well - most can't recover or even tolerate the surgery (which would be after the CT). SO, we let our boy Cross The Rainbow Bridge with the help of the staff at Companion Vet. THEY ARE THE BEST PEOPLE WHO REALLY CARE DEEPLY ABOUT YOUR BELOVED PETS. Highly recommend them. And we found out they are open - emergency hours - on the weekend. They made the arrangements for cremation and everyone signed a beautiful card to us about our boy Elgin. So. Take your pets to the BEST - COMPANION VETERINARY CLINIC!!!!

Update: Weeks later MV Vet responds on yelp with about what is expected as an update, what I did…read morenot expect was blatant lying....I was NEVER asked for more diagnostics, I 110% never EVER turned down any additional testing, I also was NEVER told to take her anywhere else besides the initial night before I took her in when I was advised I could take her to emergency care if I thought she might not make it through the night, at that point she was fine and I brought her to MV vet the next morning and it was not what MV vet is attempting to make it out to be...their BS reply is just to try and save face when they dropped the ball....lies lies and more lies, it's been almost a month and not a single person has contacted me....this is flat out ridiculous lying and false information to try and save face at a failing vet.

It was during 2020 (Covid) I was looking for a new veterinary. I was in the second row, in my car,…read morewaiting for the Veterinary doctor to come to my car. I had my two Persian kitties Sassette (my little girl ) and Dante, my little guy (brother and sister which I've had them since they were three months old... they were nine years old then! He, was talking to the car in front of me that had a dog in the car and I was listening to him. He was so compassionate, caring, and thoughtful...That I thought WOW...I found my kitties new doctor so I made an appointment... Turns out his name was Dr. Foster and I have been going there for the past six years. He is probably the best Veterinarian doctor I have ever met. I also see Doctor Mulliken, who my kitty's also saw she is great too!!! The front office Mary, Laura, Stevie, and Rachel (I believe the office manager) are all wonderful. Ben, T.K they are the doctors assistance are kind and wonderful... Everyone there is professional, kind, and so supportive and wonderful! December 2025, my little guy Dante (14 then) had kidney problems and we had to be put him to sleep. It was so very painful beyond words for me, and my son and yet when we got there, they had an office set up in the back room with the lights, dimmed and soft music and they treated HIM so kind! We had Dante cremated, and Dr. Foster recommended a place which were wonderful. I keep his picture and the lovely box he's in, in front of me and think of him every day with wonderful memories! In May of this year 2026, my little girl Sassette got sick and it was thought that she had a cold or the flu. For a week and a half she did not eat all she did just drink water and it had to be out of the sink because she couldn't put her head down to get to the water in the water bowl. She was given an antibiotic and after a few days, Dr. Foster saw her and determined that whatever she was given, it was not working, and he changed her to a different antibiotic and then still for another week and a half she didn't eat, but every day we took her to see them as he wanted her to have water and liquids in her. The last week it was kind of determined if she didn't make it and start eating, she wouldn't make it and she would die... But then on Thursday (about a week and a half later) she started eating I was beyond grief, beyond worrying, watching her lay in her comfy bed and watching her what I thought that she was dying ...so scared and so sad to watch my little girl laying there dying in front of me... she had gone from 6 pounds to 4.2 pounds! She was skin and bones! But then, a miracle...she started eating (after not eating for again almost a week and a half) so whatever Dr. Foster did he SAVED her LIFE!!!Beyond words!!! Thank God!!! I am so indebted to him and to his staff all of them for helping her and me through this PAINFUL process!!! Their kindness and caring helped me through again this difficult time for me and for my SASSETTE! So I am recommending to anyone that is reading this. What a wonderful doctor, "Dr. Foster" is and everyone else there....a wonderful and caring staff. I remain so indebted to all of them, but again, especially to Dr. Foster... God bless! We have been taking our dog here for years. I'll start by saying that, 4 years ago, we felt like…read morethis place was great. As time went on, however, it feels like we only became a money pool for them. Our dog began to have recurring skin & ear issues. We were told 3 different ways to clean him by 3 different people who worked here, but none of these treatments worked. In fact, they made it worse. We ended up figuring it out on our own, which is unfortunate being you would hope a vet would be able to give experienced advice, let alone 3 of them. We overlooked this as the business was always very kind and seemed to have our best interest in mind. As his skin and ear issues became worse, despite our best efforts, the only thing we walked away with every visit was a $300-$400 bill and the same medication that basically just kept the issues from getting worse. Finally, after years of bills and medication / guidance that did not solve anything, we tried a different vet. They prescribed him medication and his skin and ear issues went completely away within a week. It is the first time in years we have seen his skin and ears look so good and he seems happier. I don't write reviews often but it sort of hit me that our dog had been dealing with medical issues for years and we trusted this place with setting us up for success to make sure we were getting our dog what he needed. Then, after thousands of dollars, a new vet solves everything in a single visit. Hopefully we are a one off. But I would not recommend this business.

Gigi is now on two medications to help with her seizures. My other fur-child, Lola, was coughing recently and I brought her here-- This was also a last minute appointment. Dr. Griffith took good care of her and prescribed her medication and now she's all fine. The doctors and the staff here are so great!
