This was my first time ever seeing a chiropractor, but I feel fixed. I've been feeling chronic low back pain in the sciatic area, which I've explained to 2 different PCP's to which they've told me it's an extremely common condition for adults, and prescribed NSAIDs and lidocaine ointments. None of which seemed to work. Within 5 minutes of walking in here, Dr. Hsu sat me down and found immediately that one of pelvic plates were stuck in flexion, by feel. She explained what kind of pain that could cause before I explained to her where I felt the pain and she was spot on. 10 minutes of some electro stimulation, a passover with some massage gun, and then finally adjustment in 3 different areas. The dull, chronic pain that I've been feeling for the past year + is now gone. I can literally feel a difference, the whole time before it felt like something was broken or out of place and I feel somewhat back to normal. Not sure how long this relief will last, but I'm very happy I decided to visit the Chiro and will definitely come back here if I need to. Dr. Hsu is very polite and thorough. Very knowledgable. Dr. Hsu is amazing! It was my first experience at a chiropractor. Unfortunately, I'm a grandma (socially, and sometimes physically) and pulled something in my back while moving over the weekend. The pain was so persistent that I needed to see someone stat and had an hour to kill before meeting a friend to scarf down some Katz across the street. She was able to accommodate me right away for a consult and first treatment. She is really friendly and explained patiently each step of the way and answered all my random weird questions about my muscles. She helped realign my spine and eased the pain in my lower back using a combination of electrical stimulation, partnered stretching and some fancy gadgets that mimic the massage parts but with way more intensity. At the end of the treatment she recommended I drink more water because my muscles were cramping and spasming over each other like crazy and she make some suggestions regarding my posture and what to do post treatment. Hopefully the pain goes away in less than a week and I don't have to come back for a second treatment! But if I did I wouldn't be mad cuz it's kind of a joy to be there. read more

Before seeing her I have been dealing with chronic pains in my shoulder with only counting on massage therapy over the years. I went to this chiropractor twice, which was long enough to realize that this business is based around (1) false diagnoses and (2) turning clients dependent on her services. She concluded with not a single formal orthopedic (or otherwise medical) test that I had "alignment issues" from "sleeping on my stomach" before running a slew of treatments that have no scientific backing (such as cupping). She said I had a mild case that would go away, and that I probably wouldn't even need to come back. The next day whatever "manipulation" she did left me even more debilitated and the exercises she had me do, in hindsight, further destabilized my back. (As one quick example, she inappropriately applied heat on consecutive visits for what turned out to be an inflammatory, not muscular, problem.) I went to a real orthopedic for a diagnosis a week later, something she never once suggested. An MRI revealed I have a severely herniated disk in my back. Someone who works in chiropractics has a duty to provide sound medical advice, and to admit ignorance. Nancy demonstrated clear ignorance in her cursory and false diagnosis, as well as in her inappropriate and unproven treatment techniques. Abuse of the power and responsibility she holds is no joke. If you are reading this, please see a real orthopedic before considering this service. read more

Mere words can't express how wonderful Dr.Hsu is...you've got to experience it yourself. Dr. Hsu is genius. She's been able to unwind damage that has been lurking in my spine for over a decade. I came here during the last months of my pregnancy because I had a terrible back and hip ache. I basically got a prenatal every week until my baby popped out. The first time I went, I was in really bad shape. I couldn't even walk because my hip seemed out of place and hurt to walk. I would have to limp. Even when I slept, I couldn't move around because it would hurt so much. It stopped that night after leaving 1 on 1 and every once in a while throughout the pregnancy it would happen again and Dr. Hsu would put everything back into place as gentle as possible and I could walk around and have a good night sleep. Since having my daughter I have been back twice for wrist and back aches and she seems to have an instinct for where the aches are coming from and fixes me right up. I found this place browsing on yelp looking for practitioners of Active Release technique. Lifting heavy weights has taken a toll on my body and I started feeling this nagging pain on my shoulder. After meeting with Dr. Hsu, we discussed my options and methods of treatment. My only reservation coming into this place was affordability. I lack health insurance so any treatment was coming out of pocket. I found her rates extremely affordable, the care superb and environment supremely welcoming. She didn't try and sell me services i didn't need or could not afford. I didn't get the aggressive sales pitch I've experienced in the past. I waited for my second visit before i posted this review. 1 on 1 Chiro is Amazing! Today was my second time seeing Dr. Nancy Hsu, and it will definitely not be my last! My girlfriend told me about this place, after coming for a few times and was more than satisfied with the results. I have always been weary of chiropractic services but was interested after seeing how much better my gf was after seeing Nancy. I was turned into a believer from day one. The office is clean, modern, conviently half a block from the F train, and Nancy is beyond knowledgeable, skilled, and super nice with a beyond helpful attitude. Nancy really goes beyond for her patients and truly cares about their well being. This was proven to me this morning, as I came into the office, with it just opening, with severe back pain and Nancy was able to take care of me with no hesitation. My back was tweaked after a bad combination of a long road trip and subsequent 7 mile run the next day. I was so grateful for her to accommodate me with no notice, as I was in pretty bad shape and was pretty desperate. She was able to alleviate my pain and really help me out. I've visited Dr. Hsu twice now. The first time was after I arrived to the city and I must have tweaked something in transit. It was hard to enjoy the whole nyc experience because I was in pain and I'm a big sissy. So I yelped the closest chiropractor and thank you baby jesus for Dr. Hsu. Dr. Hsu is THE. BEST. The best. Period. I can't think of enough ways to express my gratitude to Dr. Hsu for how much she helped me. I had been suffering from painful ITBS (IT-band syndrome) for over a year and a half when I first came to see her, having done months of physical therapy, all to no avail. She set right to work, and within a matter of weeks I saw huge progress. But, she didn't stop there. She was constantly looking for better ways to help me, while also checking in to see what was and was not working. She has all the latest equipment, and always made sure I was comfortable during our visits. But, what really made her stand out to me was that she is hands down one of the most pleasant medical professionals I've ever gone to see. I always looked forward to our visits, where she would put me right at ease -- and always proceeded to let me talk her ear off! I probably should've been paying her as my actual therapist too... After ~5 months of seeing Dr. Hsu, I'm virtually completely cured of my ITBS. I went from barely running 1/4-mile with extreme pain, up to 6+ miles with no pain whatsoever, which I completely owe to her. I've been to Dr. Hsu just once and she really did what a lot of people in the medical profession could not: get to the bottom of why I was having pain. A previous doctor had me go for X-ray, MRI and EMG, then go to Physical Therapy, which was a rip. Hundreds of dollars and many many hours going to these people with no conclusive diagnosis, no mention of Scoliosis or any mention that a chiropractor would be of help. Dr. Hsu put things in perspective with her excellent bed-side manner. Her office is modern, convenient located outside the F train at 2 Avenue. Most importantly, the treatment is effective. Dr. Nancy Hsu is a great Chiropractor, aside from other good things such as she's very kind, caring and helpful. Another benefit is it's very easy to make an appointment using the text messaging, so when I got injured at night, I could make an appointment for the next day. I really appreciated the flexibility. I had visited three different occasion due to my injuries of my shoulder, back and arm. Her treatment was effective, and did not require long duration of the treatment. Her detailed advises on posture or how you sleep, as well as stretches you can do at home, also helped. I have tried several different chiropractors in NYC area, and so far she's the best. read more

I came to Dr. Hsu because a coworker had recommended visiting 1on1 Chiropractic for a very bad injury that I sustained several years ago. For the past two months I've been going on a weekly basis to see Dr. Hsu and have to say I'm amazed/surprised to see immediate results after just a few visits! Also, Dr. Hsu is really accessible and affordable -- not to mention that her office is very clean and organized. I've had my really awful share of bad doctors in New York City so it's great to find someone that I trust. I initially came just for my back pain, but you can address any abnormality that you're experiencing and Dr. Hsu will definitely take care of you. I called Dr. Nancy Hsu after reading a number of great reviews of her work. My wife had been in an automobile accident and had gone through two Orthopedists and physical therapy without getting better. After nearly nine months, she still had severe pain in her lower back. I had hoped Dr. Hsu would help her. How wrong I was. I am a health professional myself, and I can say that she is one of the most unprofessional and abusive doctors I have ever come across. After my wife had seen Dr. Hsu for two weeks, the Dr. did something a doctor should never do: she lost her temper when my wife told her she wasn't feeling any better. She yelled at my wife, reminding her that she worked longer on her than on anybody else and berating her at length about being too fat and not going on a diet as she had told her to. (My wife weights 120 pounds.) She also berated her for riding a bus to Pennsylvania, for sleeping on the wrong kind of bed, and in general, for not getting better after she had worked with her for a whole two weeks. She lied to her and told her that her insurance company was angry at her for costing so much money! She ended the scolding by telling her "Maybe you should find another doctor." In short, she completely blamed my wife for not getting better and took no responsibility at all for her doctoring approach. My wife came home from this session crying, not understanding what had happened. My wife is a sweet, recent immigrant from China. Dr. Hsu is a Chinese -American. I have wondered whether she had some kind of prejudice toward my wife. After I called Mr. Hsu and question her about her behavior, she changed for a while and treated my wife more politely. But after a few more weeks she again berated her when she complained that she wasn't getting better and again told her maybe she should see another doctor. My wife didn't know where else to turn. So she stayed another two months. Then she handed my wife a letter and told her she couldn't be her doctor any more. In the letter she blamed this rejection on the fact that my wife's lawyer had contacted her with regard to a law suit against the other driver, and she didn't want to be involved in the case. But I think she had already made up her mind long before that. And my wife and I have certainly made up our mind about her. She treated my wife with complete disrespect (contempt) from the beginning. It is very hard to see the woman I love, who has suffered from so much back pain from an accident that came out of the blue when another drive pulled out on the road right in front of us, be so badly treated by someone who should think about the doctor's code, "First, do no harm." I am posting this review to give readers another perspective to ponder before going to this doctor. read more

two words! great chiro!! I was looking for a chiropractor who is certified in ART (active release technique) and some of my friend has told me that Dr. Hsu is certified in ART and graston. I dont usually like chiropractors who only adjust and not work on my muscles. I have been training for marathon so i really needed someone who knew how to work with muscles. Dr hsu knew what she was doing!! lol after one treatment, 70% of my lowback and leg pain went away and by the second visit, most of my pain went away. she gave me home exercise to do and proper stretch that i can do before i run so I dont hurt myself again. There's good pain and there's bad pain. I started to worry when my knees would be sore, achy, and unstable after a heavy workout with my personal trainer. She has me doing deep-knee lunges, squats, and leg press exercises at most of our sessions, but I am always complaining that my knees hurt. I think she thought I was just exaggerating and trying to wimp out. But I wasn't kidding. This was starting to develop into real physical pain both when inside and outside of the gym environment. Walking down stairs would hurt and I would wake up with a dull aching behind my patella. My trainer would tell me to stretch and foam roll which I would do diligently. But the pain wasn't subsiding. Finally, I decided to have a professional evaluate me and to see if my symptoms were over-exaggerated. I stumbled upon 1 on 1 Chiropractic on my way to visit a friend in the area. I really liked the cute green and white sign hanging outside the practice. I went in and immediately I felt a nice welcoming, by both the doctor's assistant and by the warm, cozy feeling of the office. She told me the doctor was available and could see me then. Voila! I love instant gratification, especially when I am being completely spontaneous and needy. I filled out a patient medical history form and was ready for my exam! Once I met Dr. Hsu, I felt completely at ease. She is sweet, engaging, and very knowledgeable. I explained to her my recent aches and pains and she LISTENED. And then she addressed everything in the most streamlined, focused manner. Her questions were specific and targeted. She had me demonstrate a squat for her so she could watch my movements. From there, she figured out the main issues. Turns out my right meniscus was dislocated and popping out of position. Aha! I knew I wasn't imagining the knee pain! She was able to move it back into position without a lot of discomfort (good pain!). It was close to a miracle how quickly my symptoms improved just from that one procedure. She also concluded that my IT bands are very tense and that I need to focus on foam rolling those areas each time before my workouts. Dr. Hsu also applied a laser to my leg muscles to help with my overall long-term spasming and tightness. After my 20 minute exam with Dr. Hsu, I felt like a healthy 34 year old with normal knees again! I no longer have to hobble down stairs anymore. I was so happy I practically skipped and hopped all the way to meet my friend. I will definitely be going back to see Dr. Hsu on a regular basis. Her prices are extremely reasonable, especially for someone like me who doesn't have insurance! I highly recommend seeing Dr. Hsu if you have any back issues, joint pain, or overall wear and tear. She is a phenomenal chiropractor who will provide you with smart, savvy, professional medical expertise to heal your aches and pains. read more
