My mother passed five days ago. I went in to place a large order. The cookies are beautiful, but HIGH PRICED. Additionally, they wanted to charge me an additional $1 per cookie rush fee on cookies that are already $4-5 each! I have no control over a death's timing, and I did ask five days prior to the service, but because it wasn't a week prior they asked for an additional $1each on already exorbitantly priced cookies. I stopped by here right after my trip to Sprouts, since they're in the same plaza, just one unit down from another. It's a very cute and aesthetic cookie bakery. They do offer indoor seating, as well as beverages. I noticed they have a full espresso bar. When you walk in, there's a display of a variety of cookies. The cookies on the white plate are $1.60/ea. & the sugar cookies are $3.50/ea. I ordered one Mint Paddy and an Iced Oatmeal cookie, which came out to $3.60 after taxes. I was expecting more of the cookies you'd find at Crumbl, but no not those kind of cookies haha. I really want to like this place. I feel like my cookies were very hard and stale? Maybe because they're sitting out in the open all day? I'm not too sure. They weren't soft and chewy on the inside. They were more so crunchy? Maybe overly baked? The fact that I've been a 1 Smart Cookie (1SC) customer over the last few years is almost working against it right now, because the things that made 1SC so great to begin with aren't there anymore. Yo, the sizes are so wack now. And it's especially evident when you look at pictures I've uploaded over the years. The proof is in the cookie batter as it were. One of the best things about 1SC cookies was that their variety cookies (like the Heavenly Heath) were these soft, mound-shaped, " t h i c c " lookin' things that almost had the appearance of ice cream scoops (sans cones). Now, they're noticeably flatter and smaller; like, they're half the size of the cookies circa 2016-2017. The prices have held steady though. And their "Smart Cookie" was a decent sized cookie (albeit smaller than other variety cookies), and made me feel less terrible about eating cookies for breakfast. But now they're practically miniature balls of healthiness, and that doesn't feel so smart (for my wallet; not necessarily for my calorie intake). Also, the hours are not great. 9 am to 5:30 pm is fine, I guess, if you're a stay-at-home mom, but... I kinda gotta work to be able to buy these cookies, and then I can never make it home in time (because this place is kinda right in the middle of NW OKC suburbia) to buy said cookies with cookie money. Even being open at 8 am would be nice, because then it'd be possible to stop by on the way to work. But nope. As it stands, literally the only time I'm able to get any 1SC cookies is when I happen to think about it on a Saturday morning. But now I'm going to be doing less of that as well, because the cookies are deflating. So meh to it all. Complaints aside, the Coconut Paradise cookie is amazing (like a cookie version of Almond Joy). And the Heavenly Heath, while not as heavenly as in years past, is still better than standard Earthly cookies. And 1SC also has this one brownie that's really good; it's a cakey kinda brownie, with a ton of chocolate chips on top for a pleasant crunch. P. S. In years past, I was told that there was a $5 minimum spend to use credit cards. My most recent visit, the lady didn't know what I was talking about, so that may have been done away with. Which is nice, because... Y'all really don't need to be eating 4 cookies in one sitting. You're not kidding anyone with that nonsense about buying more to share with others. P. P. S. Waitaminute... We'd been meaning to visit this place for awhile. We started by getting one cookie each to try as we decided which ones to order to take with us. I had an oatmeal scotchie cookie and found it to be harder/dryer than I was hoping. We ended up getting 3 of the fancy sugar cookies, 2 brownies and a mixed dozen of other cookies to share at home. I'll have to admit, I was a little disappointed with the cookies. I guess a lot of it was probably my personal preference. I prefer softer cookies and for me they were all pretty dry and crumbly...even the brownies. The decorated cookies were beautiful and were pretty good. They are very thick, but not bad. If I picked a favorite, it'd be m&m or maybe chocolate chip. They are impressive-looking cookies and the price is good for the size. They are edible...just not my personal favorite. I had my first taste of 1 Smart Cookie at a potluck where they had small and large vanilla/sugar cookies; I really don't know what they are labeled as, but they have a frosting on them that is amazing! It's the best frosting I've ever had, and the cookie itself is glorious. Anywho; I went in for my step-dad's birthday and the smell of fresh baked cookies is amazing! You are greeted by kind employees and a bar of cookie jars if you want a la cart options. The area is open and you can see the magic happen in the kitchen with the window partitions. This is my personal experience that I am sharing here, FB and Twitter in hopes to help someone not have a disappointed kid with two day old cookies. MAKE A NOTE TO ASK IF THE COOKIES ARE FRESH AT THE COOKIE STORE WHO SELLS COOKIES. We went into the cookie store yesterday to purchase cookies, three for a bit over $8. The sugar iced cookies are good, dense, but delicious.. They reduced the amount of icing on them which was a bummer, but still good. We bought the oatmeal scotchie which was a bit dark, none the less my daughter attempted to eat it when we arrived home and it crumbled like dry red dirt. I called, just on principle and the previous owner was always so amazing. aS wonderful lady named Megan apologized and told us to come back and get another cookie on the house.. I asked if they FRESH thinking a cookie store would have fresh cookies, she indicated it might have been made the day before but she didn't think they were made today. What the freak, how can a cookie store sell two day old cookies and not tell you or set them up front (these were with all the other cookies) and sell them for the same prices. Who knew right. My daughter tried microwaving the cookie and drowning the sucker in milk.. no luck, stale, old and crumbly. Here is the best part, I went back today to get a new cookie just like the wonderful Megan instructed and was talking to another lady and I guess the new owner came out and asked if I had called about the cookie and I said yes. She asked if I also asked about the previous owner (Cindy) who we loved loved loved and I said yes. She said she tried a cookie after I called and it was a bit done, but wasn't stale. OK, well first of all I didn't ask you, I asked my daughter and tried it for myself. I told her I didn't know how you could sell day or two old cookies and not let customers know and charge full price, it is deceptive. They are a cookie store and one would think majoring in cookies they would be fresh. I told her the previous owner would offer them up front in a different section noting they were a day old at a reduced price. She said they did that, but yet mine was with all the rest. She said her cookies have a shelf live of two days. THERE YOU GO FOLKS, RIGHT THERE WHEN YOU WALK IN YOU COULD BE SPENDING FULL PRICE ON A COOKIE THAT IS NOT FRESH AND IS TWO DAYS OLD. Then she proceeds to talk down to me telling me the Cindy didn't cook the cookies all the way through and they do.Hence they are "more done" than hers were and may not be as gooey and soft, with eggs and all ' you know'. She told me twice they cook them all the way (thank you, I heard that on the first time around as your CUSTOMER. Which apparently you forgot what that is. Then I get a lesson on oatmeal and how dry it is with baking etc. Oh THE ICIING ON THE CAKE, I was told the sell tubs and if I wanted to cook my own batch that were not cooked all the way I could buy the tub. Finally, I get to ask the wonderful other lady if they were made fresh today and she indicated they were. Then the "owner" who worked under Cindy for three years as I was told and knows how Cindy did things told her to go ahead and give me the cookie free. Wow that is big of you since that is the entire reason I was there because wonderful Megan wanted to make it right and told me to come back. Tip: OWNER LADY stay in the back, your customer service patronizing skills are horrible. No one wants to hear excuses or how you do things better and how to bake, we just want our cookies to make our kids happy. If you are not going to to provide good customer service you should let your staff handle the counter. Needless to say today's oatmeal scotchie was the right color, not as flat (fluffy) and fresh and my daughter loved it and said, oh my gosh mom this is like night and day from yesterday and was so good. Here I am sharing my own personal experience/review with you on Yelp. The owner was a know it all and cannot provide customer service for her two day shelf life cookies. Be sure to ask if they ARE FRESH, if not you will be dissapointed just like we were. The only difference is we won't be going back EVER DUE TO THIS WOMAN and I will share my own personal story of my own personal experience with anyone and everyone who wants a cookie. I needed special cookies for a "graduation" at work. I needed 23 cookies which is sort of an odd number and it was OK! :) They were able to blend just the right color green for the icing plus being 4 inch circular cookies, the grads will feel so special! I have ordered custom cookies from 1 Smart Cookie twice -- my first experience was ordering edible imaging cookies and the second was custom iced cut outs. Both orders were perfect! I love that I can email 1 Smart Cookie with an inquiry and they respond quickly with options and prices. They also have one of my favorite qualities in a business -- always, "Yes, we can find a way to do that!" As for the cookies, they are thick, very good, and do very well at room temperature. I was cautioned not to refrigerate the iced cookies because it can cause the colors to morph and the icing to crack. I ordered there cookies for delivery for out of state. This is a bakery that is probably better for local business instead of shipping their goods. When my family member received the box, she said everything was broken or crumbly inside. Also that is looked like not much care was taken to pack this box.
