    Gyoza - pale, chewy globs
    Denise H.

I ordered delivery through Door Dash....I have vowed to stop doing this! I ordered the spring rolls, gyoza, and Hibachi with dark meat chicken. Spring rolls were not crispy and the inside was pure mushy (I can forgive the lack of crispiness due to delivery but complete mush on the inside - gross and a good indication of frozen food.) The gyoza was even worse! Chewy, pale, bland - what fresh hell is this?! The hibachi was kind of bland but edible. This is really a 2 1/2 star rating but due to delivery and how some foods just don't travel well, I rounded up to 3.

Service and quality definitely are not how they were when they first opened. Not a first choice for hibachi.

This is taken from the rear towards the front door. The kitchen is behind that glass on the right.

Located in a strip mall along busy 153, the parking is surprisingly good. About half the spaces are adjacent to the building and the other half are across the traffic lane. There are handicapped spaces right in front of the entrance. Walking in, there is a large open waiting area. It's set up nicely if it gets busy so you don't need to line up outside. On the left side or the waiting area are two terminals you use to place your order. The process is pretty straight forward. The program walks you through the steps and there were no glitches. Paying is also at the terminal, so you can get everything done in one step. The kitchen is open and easily visible. The hibachi part is away from the wall with the sushi counter right next to where you walk to the few tables. The sushi prep area has fish in plastic wrap on the upper shelf. This did not appear to be display items. We had selected water for our drink and were pleased to find it was an urn of cucumber lime water. The cups are behind the urn. The plastic cups are not only small but extremely thin and collapse easily. They dented easily just getting them from the stack of cups, and once filled with water they indented just holding them tight enough to not drop them. I had to get up for a refill three times while we ate our lunch because the cup barely held enough water for two drinks. All tables are located next to the outside wall along the right side of the building. The walking aisle leads to the bathrooms in the rear. The inside temperature was quite cool. I wound up eating with my coat on the entire time. Our food was ready in less than 10 minutes and was brought to our table. The server also brought napkins and a utensil, which was a spork. Since soup comes with the lunch, these were essentially useless. My dining partner and I just sipped our soup from the bowl. The miso soup was very bland. This was little more than warm pale water. The dinner salad was typical, meaning regular leaf lettuce with a lot of the white core and a few strips of carrots. The ginger dressing was good. The California roll was fine but served room temperature. The five pieces of sushi were served warm, above room temperature. The salmon had a very fishy smell which made it hard to eat. The yellowtail had no real flavor. The tuna was good, although sushi being warm was very disconcerting. The Alaska roll and Christmas roll were both room temperature. They were fine except the avocado was very soft. It was almost guacamole consistency. We had high hopes for this restaurant, and maybe the hibachi part of the menu is better, but I will not be ordering sushi here again.

Great new hibachi and sushi place. Order at the counter and go to your seat. Incredibly tasty and quite reasonably priced. My wife has recently developed a vinegar "allergy" (technically it's a pseudo-allergy, but still), and they went out of their way to make sure she had an enjoyable meal. They made her rolls with plain white rice and made sure she got sauces that were vinegar free. The steak was fantastic, teriyaki shrimp was amazing, the rolls were great, everything we had was good. Cool atmosphere too. I highly recommend giving them a try.

Great experience! Very friendly staff, clean and most important the food was great. We ordered: Ginger salad, Spicy tuna roll, Christmas roll and the Shrimp tempura roll. So glad they opened this location on Hwy 153, Hixson, TN! We will definitely be back. Hibachi looks amazing too. Wishing you all lots of success!

Most sushi restaurants aim for quiet elegance. Sake Roll &…read moreGrill went with giant sports bar television and hoped the sushi would keep up. This place is a little off the beaten path, but the reviews looked promising, so we decided a small sushi road trip was in order. I walked in expecting the usual sushi restaurant vibe. Instead I was greeted by a television so large it could probably pick up signals from space. When I say massive, I mean it takes up an entire wall. Nothing pairs with delicate nigiri quite like a television the size of a drive-in movie screen. The all you can eat menu is a little limited when it comes to rolls, which was a bit surprising. But the nigiri selection was actually pretty strong and, more importantly, surprisingly fresh. Plenty of options and the fish held up well over multiple rounds. The cooked items were also plentiful, which helps if someone in your group is not fully committed to the raw fish lifestyle. Overall, I enjoyed the food. The service, however, moved at a pace that felt very... deliberate. Very, very slow. Slow enough that you start wondering if the rice is being strategically deployed to fill you up before your next order arrives. Still, the food was good and the experience enjoyable enough to land at a slightly above average four stars. Tip: come with extra time and patience. Settle in, watch a good sporting event on that enormous TV, and pack away some pretty solid sushi. Four stars. A little off the beaten path, a little slow on the service, but good sushi and possibly the biggest TV you will ever see in a sushi restaurant.

However, the excellent customer service more than makes up for it! We had a party of four and were able to seat ourselves while the waiter came over to take our orders. Everyone was super attentive and the service was fast. One server brought us our waters and was incredibly nice. Then another staff member came over to greet us and take our orders. Another gentleman brought out our fries and checked to see if we were ready to order our entrees, but we had already placed our orders. I really appreciated how attentive everyone was throughout our visit! Our food came out in a good amount of time. I ordered the miso ramen, and let me just say--it was a 10/10! The flavors were absolutely spectacular. I've never had tofu that good, and it was served on the side. The way the edamame was seasoned and paired with the broth was simply TOO GOOD! My wife ordered the tonkotsu ramen, which she really enjoyed. I tasted the broth, and it was definitely different from mine, but in a good way! My son also enjoyed his fries, which were fried to perfection. Needless to say, I HAVE to come back before I hit the road and head home!

Very clean place, authentic Japanese murals on the wall, quick and friendly service. I've noticed some reviewers think owners and staff are rude, but honestly, it's just a cultural difference. They can be straightforward and to the point (and possibly received rude to some), but they've definitely warmed up to us as we eat there a lot! I'm just saying to take that into consideration when you read those negative reviews. Go there and savor Yamato's amazing and beautifully crafted dishes!

This is hands down some of the most disappointing sushi I've ever had. This is the second time getting food here and the first time it wasn't good, but decided to give it a second chance. First time wasn't a fluke. The food is bland. Spicy tuna and spicy mayo are not spicy at all. The rice, of all things, was either undercooked or was stale so it was fried out. If a sushi place can't get rice right, huge issue. A lot of the avocado in the rolls was way over ripped and browning which gave it a sour taste and further ruined the rolls. I've also never had bones in sushi, ever, in twenty years of eating it, till now. Edamame was overcooked, mushy and grainy. Smoked salmon tasted like cheap store bought smoked salmon you'd get at Walmart. I didn't even finish my food because it was just so unappetizing. Unfortunately, would not recommend and will not go back. Whoever said it's better sushi than Chattanooga or is giving the sushi 5 stars either doesn't have functional taste buds or has never had sushi anywhere else and is telling themselves it was good so they can feel refined for eating sushi.
