We live in the North Hixson, Lakesite, Soddy Daisy area, so when we decide to not drive in to town to eat, we have a few restaurants out our way to go to. One of the restaurants that we had been meaning to try was Mo Mo Hibachi on Dayton Pike in Soddy Daisy. We were in the mood for something light and quick, so this sounded perfect. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 5:30 and were seated immediately. The restaurant was clean and small (typical strip mall size), but made a good use of the space. Like most Hibachi restaurants, it does one thing, with multiple variations. You could have Hibachi Steak, Chicken, or Shrimp or combinations of those. You could choose it with rice or noodles. It is served with a salad, zucchini and onions, and the ubiquitous white sauce. To drink they have coke products, tea, and beer. We both chose the Hibachi Steak and Chicken with Rice for $7.95. The salad was iceberg lettuce with carrot strips, nothing special, but the dressing was very flavorful. The Hibachi Steak and Chicken was very good. The chicken was good, but the steak was excellent - tender with plenty of steak flavor. The servings were generous and we were able to take some home for lunch the next day. Next time I will probably try the Hibachi steak with lo mein noodles. If you live out this way, this is a great option to get your Hibachi fix!

Hibachi with lo mein noodles, chicken and vegetables.

Very nicely prepared Hibachi bowl. Lots of chicken in a slightly sweet sauce. Lo mein noodles were excellent and super hot! Friendly staff. Well attended by locals.

However, the excellent customer service more than makes up for it! We had a party of four and were able to seat ourselves while the waiter came over to take our orders. Everyone was super attentive and the service was fast. One server brought us our waters and was incredibly nice. Then another staff member came over to greet us and take our orders. Another gentleman brought out our fries and checked to see if we were ready to order our entrees, but we had already placed our orders. I really appreciated how attentive everyone was throughout our visit! Our food came out in a good amount of time. I ordered the miso ramen, and let me just say--it was a 10/10! The flavors were absolutely spectacular. I've never had tofu that good, and it was served on the side. The way the edamame was seasoned and paired with the broth was simply TOO GOOD! My wife ordered the tonkotsu ramen, which she really enjoyed. I tasted the broth, and it was definitely different from mine, but in a good way! My son also enjoyed his fries, which were fried to perfection. Needless to say, I HAVE to come back before I hit the road and head home!

Very disappointing. Publix has better sushi by far. Or Whole Foods. We eat sushi every week,…read moreusually in Sparta or Cookeville. I've had sushi in Japan, California, and many other places. This is hands down some of the most disappointing sushi I've ever had. This is the second time getting food here and the first time it wasn't good, but decided to give it a second chance. First time wasn't a fluke. The food is bland. Spicy tuna and spicy mayo are not spicy at all. The rice, of all things, was either undercooked or was stale so it was fried out. If a sushi place can't get rice right, huge issue. A lot of the avocado in the rolls was way over ripped and browning which gave it a sour taste and further ruined the rolls. I've also never had bones in sushi, ever, in twenty years of eating it, till now. Edamame was overcooked, mushy and grainy. Smoked salmon tasted like cheap store bought smoked salmon you'd get at Walmart. I didn't even finish my food because it was just so unappetizing. Unfortunately, would not recommend and will not go back. Whoever said it's better sushi than Chattanooga or is giving the sushi 5 stars either doesn't have functional taste buds or has never had sushi anywhere else and is telling themselves it was good so they can feel refined for eating sushi.

To start with the positive, the sushi itself was actually solid for an all-you-can-eat spot. AYCE sushi can sometimes be hit or miss, but the rolls and sashimi here were better quality than I expected. We arrived around 8:30 PM on a Sunday. The restaurant closes at 10 PM and the place was still fairly busy with customers. We were greeted kindly by a host with pink hair and seated near the TV across from the sushi station. Service overall was friendly. Where the experience became frustrating was how early the sushi bar shut down. By around 9 PM, every sushi chef had already broken down their stations. I'm talking fully cleaned cases, wiped counters, and the sushi bar basically closed. There were around five to seven sushi chefs working, so it was surprising to see the entire sushi station shut down while customers were still dining. At the very least it would make sense to keep one or two sushi chefs working closer to closing time, or let customers know something like "last call for sushi is at 8:45." We weren't told anything when we walked in. I've spent about 17 years working in kitchens and culinary, and in most restaurants if something is about to be 86'd or is nearing last call, the staff communicates that clearly to the guests. To be fair, the sushi I did receive was good. What I ordered: Miso soup Two crab salads Avocado salad Snapper sashimi Tuna sashimi Tako sashimi Spicy California roll White Tiger roll Spicy tuna roll Crabmeat roll Cucumber roll And yes, I finished everything. My co-driver was honestly surprised I was going to eat all that, but I don't leave food behind. I even had room for another roll or two. The sashimi and rolls were good quality overall. A few pricing things were a little confusing though. Sashimi costs an extra fifty cents per piece while nigiri does not, even though the only difference is the rice. There is also an eighteen percent charge for wasted food plus fifty cents per uneaten piece. I understand discouraging waste, but the combination of those charges felt a bit excessive. The base AYCE price was around twenty-two to twenty-three dollars, which is fair. However the additional charges can stack up quickly. The miso soup was unfortunately the weakest part of the meal. It tasted extremely watered down, almost like plain broth. My total ended up being around thirty-three dollars after tax, which isn't terrible, but the early sushi bar shutdown and lack of communication made the experience more frustrating than it needed to be. Overall the sushi quality was solid and I'd still come back again. Just give customers a heads up about last call for sushi and this place would easily be a home run.

Most sushi restaurants aim for quiet elegance. Sake Roll &…read moreGrill went with giant sports bar television and hoped the sushi would keep up. This place is a little off the beaten path, but the reviews looked promising, so we decided a small sushi road trip was in order. I walked in expecting the usual sushi restaurant vibe. Instead I was greeted by a television so large it could probably pick up signals from space. When I say massive, I mean it takes up an entire wall. Nothing pairs with delicate nigiri quite like a television the size of a drive-in movie screen. The all you can eat menu is a little limited when it comes to rolls, which was a bit surprising. But the nigiri selection was actually pretty strong and, more importantly, surprisingly fresh. Plenty of options and the fish held up well over multiple rounds. The cooked items were also plentiful, which helps if someone in your group is not fully committed to the raw fish lifestyle. Overall, I enjoyed the food. The service, however, moved at a pace that felt very... deliberate. Very, very slow. Slow enough that you start wondering if the rice is being strategically deployed to fill you up before your next order arrives. Still, the food was good and the experience enjoyable enough to land at a slightly above average four stars. Tip: come with extra time and patience. Settle in, watch a good sporting event on that enormous TV, and pack away some pretty solid sushi. Four stars. A little off the beaten path, a little slow on the service, but good sushi and possibly the biggest TV you will ever see in a sushi restaurant.

It was overdone and chewy. Filet mignon should not be chewy at all. I love good food, make lots recommendations, yelp, share on social media, etc BUT and didn't want to write them off just yet. I called them and let them know, they said I had to bring my receipt and the food back to inspect it. They said they could re-do my order. They made it right. They Re-did the order and the meat the 2nd time came out perfectly. It was very tender and just melted in my mouth. I'm glad I called them (which I don't normally do). The staff was great. Will definitely be back again. Will definitely recommend.

This is exactly how it came (noodles at the bottom with veggies & protein on top). All I did was take the top of the lid off & seen a piece of hair laying there. I drove all the way back for a refund and had to wait 15mins for the manager to come back from a "supply run" to get a refund. The manager came in and was very rude! Never acknowledged me with a "Hey", "How are you doing" or anything. He had an attitude because he had to give me a refund, like the hair in the food was my fault. Also, he never apologized for the problem. The only thing he said during the entire interaction was, "the money will go back on the card"... Not even a "have a good day". The manager was more mad than me when I'm the one who drove all the way home, sat down, opened the container and couldn't even eat because it's hair in my food. Then had to drive all the way back to Hixson, waited 15mins on him to come back from running errands to even get a refund. TIP for Manager: Having your employees wear hairnets, would prevent you from getting mad at the customer about doing a refund because one of YOUR EMPLOYEE'S HAIR fell in THEIR food. (:

That may be because service was ridiculously slow! From where we were in the bar, we couldn't hear anyone's name being called and they don't use a notification system to inform you when your table is ready. So after waiting an hour and a half, we went to the front and asked the host, "how much longer do we have to wait?" Oh we have seats for you now, Argh! After seating, they immediately took our order and had appetizers and drink refills in front of us. So while things started really slow, it quickly picked up. Our food was being started on the grill and we were again happy. Much to my surprise and disappointment was the handling of food, by the cook! On the raw plate, was steak, chicken, lobster, shrimp, and scallops all separate but lumped together cross contaminating one another. And it got worse! After the chef had cooked everything, he realized nobody ordered chicken and he put the cooked chicken back onto the raw food plate! Aside from that, the food that was cooked for our meal, was done so very well. We liked it while we ate at the restaurant. However, upon returning home, our stomachs were a wreck and we stank of garlic! Surprised because none of us saw any being cooked. This has to be a love hate. Because on one hand we loved the food and ambiance, while we hated the service and food handling. The staff all was pleasant and seemed to be working hard but a little clueless.
