This place is so cute! And I love this area of town, being it is such a quaint and lush area. I saw online that you can grab a bite here and bring it over to SWIRL next door for a glass of wine. I did not realize they so sell their own wine there, so next time I plan to eat my food and drink my wine all in the same place. Turns out they have a happy hour too! M-F 3 -6 How fantastic! The entry way, is what I would describe as very European. It is a skinny walkway, up the stairs, and then you're in this elevated space with light woods and super welcoming staff. The inside is small, maybe 4 tables. With a large window overlooking the lush area and sidewalk for people watching. I ordered the chicken sandwich, which is a chicken gyro. It was messy as heck, but very tasty. I also ordered the Brussel sprouts. I have had better, more flavorful gyros and brussels, and it was good, just did not blow me away. Mediterranean small plates place that was quite fun and delightful. Seating is sparse though, I think about 7 tables or so. We got several plates to share amongst four people. It's a cute, cozy/small restaurant with some limited outdoor seating but tables move relatively quickly and pro tip, if you grab a drink next door and find an open table, you're able to still order from 1000 figs! Wow!! I've been wanting to try this place for years and it did not disappoint! We got the Harissa Soup, Chicken Platter, Fries, and some of the mixed olives. Soup had a great depth of flavor with just a little kick of heat. Chicken was tender, flavorful, and came with plenty of tzatziki for dipping that beautiful fluffy focaccia. Loved the cabbage salad. It was my first time eating inside and it's very beautiful but it was a bit warm after our brisk walk. We got an order of the fries to split. I could eat the toum dipping sauce with a spoon it's so good! I also got the chicken platter and added a side of hummus and whipped feta. The chicken is nicely spiced and I loved the combination of that and the zhoug sauce. The salad wasn't my favorite since it was full of celery. If you're a fan of celery you'll love it! Amazing little place! Very fresh, and delicious Mediterranean cuisine. 1000 Figs is a hidden gem! It's on the second floor. I didn't see an elevator, but there is seating outside. You may be able to order ahead and sit outside without having to go up the stairs. We sat inside. We both ordered the falafel platter. The portions are pretty big. Everything was fresh and delicious. The tables have little drawers in them that hold the cutlery and napkins! What a great idea! It was very busy the day we had lunch here. There were no tables open and it got pretty loud. My wife and I really enjoyed going to 1000 Figs. It was pretty crowded, so I would plan to go right as it opens or plan to get your food to go. Service: There was a bit of service, but mostly you order at the counter and then they bring it out to you. Food: Hummus / Bread - great start to our meal. Only complaint was that the pita kind of fell apart while eating (but no worries as long as you're good using the fork to eat everything that fell out). Chicken Plate - this was our top item, and honestly there was enough food that you could split this. Chicken was very flavorful and there was a lot of it. Also had a salad, and bread. If you want to split a meal, definitely do this! So good! Fries - honestly tasted good and simple (kind of like Five Guys fries). You order and pay at the counter and the food is delivered to your table. I went recently for a work lunch and we ordered quite a few items from the menu but my favorites were the falafel with dips and the harissa soup which was smooth and flavorful. So delish. I wish I'd ordered more of the falafel because it was some of the best I've ever had. Also, I can't forget that bread. OK, I know a lot of people turn their nose up at Yelp reviews, but I'm on the road a fair amount and when you're trying to get Thai food in Columbus, or Vietnamese in Little Rock, you pretty much need Yelp to help you find it. Wow I'm so happy we tried this place! We got there on a Wednesday around 530 and easily found a table. Had we waited until 6 we would have had to wait because it's small inside and fills up fast. They do have a very small beer and cocktail menu, we settled on Paradise Park which you can't go wrong with. We had some of the most tasty Brussels ever! We also had a side of hummus and kale salad. Salad was so fresh! I loved the vinegar dressing. The bread stole the show, it's got to be house made, if not I need to know where to get some. Since we had all those appetizers we split the chicken entree and it was tender and tasty. Wish I could do 4.5 stars instead of just 4. A five star experience, after giving three stars almost 8 years ago? This is why the review update feature is so crucial (as is giving places a second chance). Literally all of the issues I mentioned last time no longer exist, most important: the extra-extra virgin olive oil. And they now have an olive plate (that features the best olives!) And they also have harissa. 1000 Figs on a Friday is like the best kind of Friday you can have in my opinion. Although technically a working lunch for me, I have aspirations of returning for one of those delicious cocktails to enjoy along with my many plates of Middle Eastern goodness. A late afternoon Friday indulgence is on the agenda for the future. I had: falafel (delectably crispy and surprisingly light, almost fluffy inside, so unlike the belly bombs that are common in many places), hummus (decadent and garlicky), and a "small" (very generous portion) salad of shredded kale and cabbage with a light vinaigrette. Golden raisins add a touch of sweetness to the bitter kale and literally it's a perfect salad. The ripe olives are a perfect accompaniment. And can we talk about that focaccia bread that's graced by some coarse salt? It's heavenly, especially when dipped into hummus (or probably, anything).
