Best Hummus I've ever had! Baklava perfection! Shrimp skewers amazing! This is the best food I've had in New Orleans thus far!

The food was fresh, delicious, and halal. I ordered the chicken salad and it was delicious. It smelled amazing and tasted even better. The service was good and friendly, but not overly friendly. The overall store is rather crowded with items that are needing to be stocked. But don't underestimate how good the food was because of this. This is weird Mediterranean food take out/corner store. When you first get in you get overwhelmed with amount of stuff ( cookie pkgs, drinks, water packs who knows what else lol) that's laying piled up in the middle of the floor. Like nobody unpacked any items in a while, just left everything as it was delivered. All the shelves are overflowing with different grocery items mostly snacks, I wonder how they keep up with expiration dates. Probably don't! You check in with a very soft spoken guy at the counter again covered in boxes of candy, snacks and let him know you have on line order. Mine wasn't ready right away so I took a stroll through cramped space between makeshift isles. Saw few interesting items but was scared to purchase due to not knowing how old the stuff actually is. Chicken shawarma comes with two sides, it was decent but on a drier side though and rice was the star for sure - perfectly cooked not clumpy and tasty. Accompanied salad was nice and fresh. Portion are good size. Salmon platter comes with 2 sides - rice and salad, rice again was good but salmon was very dry, like it was cooked yesterday and then reheated multiple times. Could hardly eat it. Order of appetizer hummus - very creamy and nicely seasoned but comes with only two kinda smallish pita breads really barely enough for 2 people. As dessert I ordered pistachio cheesecake - such a disappointment! It tasted weird, not at all like pistachio and didn't really resemble cheesecake but more pistachio mousse or something. Ok so boom.....I step into this overstocked corner store and I just knew I was in the wrong place for food. But the cashier greeted me immediately and gave me a menu!! Let's just say....feed me out the back of the corner store any day! I ordered lamb kababs with hummus and rice! Lamb was so well seasoned! I loved the added banana peppers and jalapeños! The hummus was so tasty and fresh and the rice was just as good. I'll definitely be back. Authentic food! read more

This food was truly disappointing. The meat was burnt, tough, and had a sour taste to it. The tzatziki was definitely spoiled and the pita was not "fresh" but hard like a cracker. Only bonus is that they're open 24/7. Would probably never eat here again and it was WAY OVERPRICED for the mediocre food I received. read more

So the place is a store front that sells food out of the back. The store was overwhelming with boxes everywhere......we ordered a chicken kabob wrap and fries and waited a short 10 mins for our food. With no seating we looked for a spot nearby to try out food......we found some benches across the street and sat down to eat. The food was INCREDIBLE. The seasonings and spices were fantastic. Decent meat stuffed Grape leaves, salad and sautéed vegetable platter were also good. The foul madames was tasty but a bit overly salty. Located on Canal near The Roosevelt hotel and the Orpheum theater. This is a restaurant that also sells candy, snacks, and drinks. They're open 24/7, something very helpful for people living in the area and the late-night folks. Currently take out only. I got lentil soup and baklava to go. Unlike some other restaurants I've been that had it on the menu, Cleo's was not out of baklava, so they earned points from me just for that. The baklava was maybe not quite as "juicy" as some I've had, but it wasn't dry and still tasted good, so I would order it again. Their lentil soup is thick, smooth, and delicious. And their prices don't make my wallet weep. Are there downsides? Sure. Most notable is that it felt kinda dark and crowded with stuff inside. But considering I was just getting food to-go, that didn't really bother me. I enjoyed my food and would order it again if I was in the area. read more

So I admit... I got this meal delivered and this is often the case when you're not dining in, but it was kinda terrible. The flavors were good, but for what I paid, the portions were sad, and the textures weren't great either. It IS possible to deliver falafel that is still edible on arrival, as I have had it from other local places, but this wasn't it. It was gummy and dense, like a hockey puck, and I'm willing to bet it was not much better when it was first put in this go-box. I finished the whole thing because I was starving and drunk, but I didn't enjoy it much, and ended up feeling kinda cheated and bummed out after having spent... wait for it... $38!!... on what was not a very filling meal. Cleo's is legit delicious, fabulous and a Godsend. I was snowed in in New Orleans at the Roosevelt Hotel in January 2025. I stayed in rather than venture out in the snow for dinner ... but then I got very hungry. I toddled the quarter block to Cleo's at 11 pm over slick ice and snow and got the Egyptian Breakfast. It is heartbreakingly delicious. The fried eggplant melts in your mouth, even a day later as I eat each precious bite of leftovers on my plane home. The feta ... the best very best feta. The cucumbers are perfect and sliced to perfection. Someone knows what they're doing at Cleo's and now you know too ... at the back of a bodega on Canal Street, open late until 5 am ... Mediterranean food that will break your heart and mend it. So. So. So. Good!!! read more

Coolest folks, immigrant-owned business, I can actually see their store from my window at the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans. Late night, hubby and I landed late, the only thing was opened then. This young black cashier girl was so welcomed us in, she is talkative but polite and knows how recommend food or (upswell) which is good! We enjoyed her company while waited for our food to be made, the swarmy chicken plate and lamb wrap, both were yummy. Next night I came back for more food. This time Tikka chicken and that basmati rice with spices. Love it! Met the owner, he's a cool dude, he hustles, watching him work reminded me of my immigrant self, first generation, I work every day since I came to this country. Even now, I don't take a day off unless I'm in the hospital which was a few trips HA. #MoneyNeverSleeps right as Wall Street movie said! Love their varieties of drinks, noodles, candies, snacks as you have seen at Daiso or a Japanese store, or only in California. Looks like a bodega littered with tons of expired chips and candy everywhere, to the point where you almost need to walk sideways to enter. There are a few chairs by the swinging doors of the "kitchen" but they looked rickety and quite frankly, too dirty to sit on. My spider senses were tingling hardcore but i hadn't eaten all day and this place was open, so i took a chance against my better judgment and ordered from this unsavory place. Man oh man. This might seem like a little tiny convenience store on a corner in downtown NOLA... but boy are they packing so much more. My husband and I ran across them one night coming from Bourbon. They're open until 5 am!! We got a lamb shawarma wrap and a grilled shrimp wrap!! *chef's kiss*. It was so good that two hours later, I walked .8 miles from my hotel to get another. So I highly advise you only go here if no other option and then realize that New Orleans used to be really Good for late night food and now is so bad you are better off eating expired food at home. Tiny but great for take away if you need some late night Mediterranean. We we're staying at the Roosevelt and it's late so we were not feeling room service. So, this place would be 5 stars if a full meal had not been left out of our order (not sure where the blame lies/miscommunication occurred, but the Uber app showed everything in our order, then the paper receipt from Cleo's on our bag at time of delivery did not mention the missing items). The actual kofta was a little on the dry side but seasoned/flavored well-you get 2 large pieces. You get a choice of two sides: hummus/pita or rice or salad. We chose double hummus/pita and it was awesome, so creamy and delicious. We also got an order of the labneh which was yummy, quite tart and creamy-doesn't come with pita so order extra!! We also added a side of the garlic sauce, which was delicious, because I love garlic! Very similar to the Trader Joe's version of garlic spread that I don't think they make anymore sadly. We were staying next door at the Sonder Promenade. We called in the order and headed down ten minutes later. When we arrived the food was not ready and we waited another 15 minutes. The grilled salmon and shrimp was very good, as was the hummus. The gyro was bad. The meat was dry and over cooked. The pita was also dry and fell apart.
