I stopped by this Middle Eastern spot in the Bywater and first thing... this place is CLEAN. Like spotless, top to bottom. You can tell they take pride in their space. I came in knowing I wanted a beef shawarma, but outside of pitas, hummus, and a basic shawarma plate, I'm still learning this cuisine. I wanted to try something new, so I asked a lot of questions. The two gentlemen behind the counter were patient, kind, and really helpful. The setup is beautiful. All the toppings laid out, fresh, colorful, and inviting. When it was time to build my wrap, I'll be honest... I didn't know what half of the items were and his accent was a little heavy, so instead of playing the "huh?" game, I trusted him to dress it for me. And I'm glad I did. When someone really knows their food and culture, I like to lean into that. I even recorded him making it because I already knew... if this hits, I'm coming back and I need to remember what went on it. I didn't get to eat it right away, but when I finally did... it was GOOD. Not spicy, a slight sweetness, well-balanced flavors, and seasoned without being overpowering. It felt like a full experience, not just something thrown together. Only thing for me, and this is personal, I would've liked my beef cooked a little less. It leaned more well-done, but it was still tender and juicy, so not a dealbreaker at all. If I had one suggestion, I'd say adding a visual menu with pictures and maybe spice levels for the toppings would help people like me who are still learning and want a little more control when ordering. I did notice it looked like shawarmas used to come with a falafel, and I was lowkey excited to try that for the first time, but I might've missed it or it changed. Either way, next time I'm definitely coming back for it. Overall, really solid spot. Clean, welcoming, flavorful, and worth trying something new. I'll be back. read more

Phenomenal! Menu is small and consist of a falafel pita, falafel bowl, shawarma saj, or shawarma bowl. I ordered a beef shawarma bowl; it came with 5 toppings. The employee that took my order was patient and explained what each topping/ sauce was. I chose lettuce, hummus, pickled turnips, curried cabbage, and pickled cabbage. It came in a 48 oz container and was enough for 2 people. The beef was flavorful. The veggies were fresh and crunchy. The only thing that was missing was a piece of pita bread. I tried Moshiko for the first time. I got the beef shawarma sandwich/wrap which came with an order of fries. I added a side of falafel to that. I absolutely loved it. The shawarma was excellent and the falafel excellent too. Crisp to the bite fluffy seasoned and green(as it should be) on the inside. The hummus was very good as well! The service was efficient, dining in was a clean and comfortable area. Portion (shawarma size) very good. I would strongly suggest you have the mango (Amba) sauce in the shawarma! Definitely an authentic cuisine here. Next visit will have to be one of the shawarma bowls and more falafel. read more

For about $20 (before tip), I got a very generous bowl that could have easily been 2 meals, had I not been famished. I ate at Moshiko last night - I had the falafel bowl with hummus, baba ganoush, spicy purple cabbage, marinated turnip (so delicious and new to me!), something wonderful with carrots and a heavenly white sauce and a spicy green sauce. I'm old and like most Americans I've eaten a TON of falafel and all the sides from forever and I have NEVER had this meal this good. We got there about 8pm so it had been open for a while, yet everything was as if they'd made it 15 minutes ago. Just one detail: the crust on the falafel was paper thin and cracked with a pleasing crunch and them melted in your mouth!! The pickled turnips though - holy chao - crunchy and firm with a bright red spicy vinegar sauce. Not too spicy - JUST RIGHT! I can't wait to go back and try the chicken shwarma. I am so happy this restaurant exists. Easily the best shawarma I've had, the quality of the beef is unbelievable. Both the bowl and the saj were incredible, very generous portions and fresh, delicious sides. Everyone working inside was very sweet and welcoming and the cardamom coffee at the counter was such a lovely gesture of hospitality. Please pay them a visit, even in the summer heat (the dining room is cool and immaculate) it's absolutely worth the trip. read more

First the good: the servers are lovely, the restaurant is sparkling clean, the hummus is amazing, the vegetables are fresh! We were disappointed with the shawarma, the flavor was bland and the meat was dry. We did arrive late, at about 7:30, so perhaps that was part of the problem in that the meat trumpets were toward their end. Would also like to see some feta, yogurt and other tangier toppings added as options. We live within walking distance and we are so thrilled to have a Mediterranean place close by.
