Unfortunately I was very disappointed with my experience:/ my girlfriend had wanted to get her nails done and I thought I would tag along and get a pedicure. It definitely makes me appreciate where I normally go! I picked the 38 dollar pedicure which has two massages and oils and scrubs and let me tell you....I wasnt even aware of him massaging my feet, he never scrubbed them and the whole thing was over in 14 mins!!!! I walked out with sticky feet and today they are dry and the nailpoish is already chipping! read more

I tried this nail place instead of my usual for a gel fill. I guess you really get what you pay for. It looked great leaving but just days later my thumbs started to lift and now just 2 weeks later they've totally broken off. Not going here anymore. My regular place is closed on Sundays so I decided to make an appointment here for a pedicure and gel removal on my hands. If you like a rushed quick service with a crowded and loud atmosphere-this is the place for you. If you like to relax while getting a great service - look elsewhere. I will be surprised if my pedicure lasts more than a week. As for my gel removal- I spent an hour after my service picking the remaining gel off the nails on my hands. read more

Went in for a manicure and got talked into a pedi too. So they started with that then we sat for like an hour and a half then they came up and said they didn't have time to do the manicure, the thing i actually came in for. Mind you we walked in at 3 on a Friday 4 others sat there for at least an hour then had to re-schedule like wtf, tell me you're too busy do t be greedy. Not pleased with my experience here. I was enjoying a weekend getaway in Encinitas with good friends, and one of them was kind enough to treat me to a mani/pedi. I hadn't had my nails done since I had my son 6 months ago, and was totally looking forward to a little "me time." This was not at all the relaxing afternoon I hoped for. The technicians quickly rushed through my nail service and asked if I wanted any upgrades. Perhaps if I booked an upgrade, I would've had a more "spa-like" experience but it was just disappointing. This was my second time visiting 101 nail lounge and once again I am so impressed. The staff is friendly and helpful, and Monica did an amazing job on my ice cream nail art. She was willing to do anything special for me and said "just show me a picture!" She was thrilled to do it and went out of her way to make sure I was happy. I tried out a salon closer by just to compare-- HORRIBLE idea. They didn't understand what I was asking (candy cane swirls design ) and made fun of me because they thought I meant stencils (didn't even know there was stencils ). The pointed cut is horrible, and the design I got pressured into I hated so much I literally used nail polish Remover and just painted them black. The longer I have these the more I hate them! These guys did such a good job that I've learned my lesson to not even try out anyone else. Plus: 101 was up front about their prices. I didn't even get to see what I was charged until after I signed the receipt (the girl covered it with both hands ) 40$ on nails that I bought 12$ nail polish Remover, 5 in black polish and 5 in a file to finally get the point that barely even resembles 101s work. I never write reviews, but I was compelled to write one since I was immensely disappointed in how my nails were left. I went in for a gel manicure, and I appreciate that they squeezed me in with no appointment. But the gel was awful. I was left with polish around my skin and some nails look like they are not completely colored. I asked for round nails and some were left square and other rounds. The matte looks not smooth and looks like I would have used whiteout from school. I now have to look for another place to do my nails asap. read more

The only place I get my nails done in North County (and I've tried my fair share!). The shellac gel manicure lasts longer than any other place I've been too (at least 14 days) and the 101 Nail Lounge offers a 10 day guarantee. If it chips, just go in and they'll fix it for free. Such a disappointment. I made a reservation, it being Saturday and all. Showed up on time and the owner told me they were full and I would have to wait. I asked how long and he said he didn't really know, then walked away to check. A lady in the back was yelling out "half hour! Tell her half hour!". He came back and said "15 minutes". I asked if he was sure, as I didn't have a lot of time to wait (hence the point of a reservation). To which he replied "I don't really know." To which I replied "There are a lot of other nail places to take my business" and walked out without him or the girl at the desk so much saying sorry or offering for me to come back another time. I know Nail Salons are not known for being the customer service capitals of business, but my advice is - unless you have unlimited time and enjoy being treated like your business is not needed, skip this place. read more

I'll preface this whole thing by saying I'm lucky to have been able to get a decent gel manicure on New Year's Eve as a first time client and last minute booking. The place was totally nuts, and I know I probably didn't get a "typical" experience. I was paired with a manicurist who didn't know how to do nail art, and that was the service I was expecting based on the Yelp photos. I was also pretty surprised at how much direction I had to give my manicurist (he did not do the cleanest shaping job, but was very nice about following my requests). I think language was a real barrier for us, and it was very challenging to explain what I wanted. For $36 including tip, I'd call the experience here average. I'd be interested to see what it would be like here on a less busy day, if I were paired with a more specialized beautician...but for the price, I don't know if it would be worth a second shot. read more

The place is pretty and I feel bad for this review as the lady who did my nails was really sweet. However I have never had a pedi come off that quickly. I purchased the pearl pedi which was $42 bucks [without tip]. Typically the pedi nail polish lasts at least a week sometimes two weeks where unfortunately here 7 of my 10 toe nails came off within 5 days where 3 of them within 2 days and 1 within less than 24 hours. I got them done for a wedding where had to run to CVS to find matching nail polish to try to cover up the poor job. Def. a huge disappointment. I will not be back and look forward to spending my money at a place that does a good job and the color stays on for more than a day. read more

Not a fan. I have just been unlucky the 3 times I've been here. All occasions I was the first person there and the last to be served. I end up waiting 45 minutes + with my now pruney feet in the cold foot bath. They do have great attention to detail when you are served & my nails look great. Maybe you'll have better luck. My advice - Leave A LOT of time. It just always seems like chaos when I go in there, so I'm made late and stressed rather then feeling pampered and relaxed. read more

Immediately after getting a pedicure, my mother and I both decided that it was a 3 star but after almost 2 months, my pedi still looks great, I will bump up to a 4. We got the lowest price option for the pedi (Sea side or something like that) it was around $25. It was a busy weekend day just before thanksgiving but despite being mostly full, they still sat us after only a few minutes. The pedi was fine: I've never had a pedi in california that I've been super pumped on (apparently they aren't allowed to use anything more than a pumice stone which I find isn't quite enough). They did a bit of massage. Their nail polish selection is pretty great. The whole salon is quite nice and feels pretty new. My mom got a mani after our pedi, but they allowed me to sit in the pedi chair and get a massage while I waited for her. I will say it again, this pedi is looking great after 1.5 months so that makes me happy. I will likely return based on that alone. read more

Have been going here for two years now. Women are always so nice. They do a great job. I love them. Reading the reviews I see Tammy L's. I was actually there that day getting a pedi right behind her. I have never seen someone so entitled and rude. Even her mother in law was trying to be nice to her. She left out how she tried not to pay and was upset they didn't provide wine to clients. My girl was actually pulled to work on her bc she was such an issue. Don't name an appt for a mani and then want gels then a reg man then back to gels. This salon is not only the best at sanitizing and proper state board disinfection, but the girls working here are excellent at what they do! They are all very kind, but by far my most favorite are NIKKI for manicures (she does a badass stiletto nail) and MICHELLE for pedicures (great massager)! They have me as a client forever now!
