This is for the newest addition to this already beautiful salon, Renee, the spray tan technician specialist. First of, the salon is gorgeous, inviting and has a spa-like feel. I was welcomed by the warm receptionist and offered a beverage while I waited to see Renee for my spray tan. I've known Renee and have been going to her for years, and I will follow her anywhere she goes because she is TRULY THE BEST AIRBRUSH TECHNICIAN IN NYC! The product Renee uses is organic, moisturizing and leaves the perfect natural looking golden glow. Her application is absolutely flawless and smells great, my boyfriend said it smells like candy, how yummy! I recommend her to my clients and now they too, swear by her. I have witnessed some of the hairdressers do some amazingly fast and beautiful blowouts on their clients. Overall, great atmosphere, professional people and excellent services. I went here using a Gilt City voucher for a single process color and blowout, after deciding I really needed to get rid of my growing out highlights. I figured single process couldn't be too much to screw up, and this place always looked nice inside so I gave it a shot. Firstly, MOST of the staff was pretty nice. A few of the employees were a little colder, but I was offered coffee or tea, which is always nice, but I suppose now expected at NYC salons. As for my color (dark brown), it came out very nice, and very healthy, as they did a color treatment as well. My blowout was nicely done too. My only complaint is that the colorist did not do a good job avoiding my scalp line when applying color. I had to scrub for at least 20 minutes at home to get color off my forehead. Not cool. Otherwise I was happy with my end result. I might come back here for a quick blowout or something of the sort, but I probably wouldn't come back for any other services, as I'm a pretty loyal Soon Beauty Lab customer. read more

Francky corrected my color and it turned out amazing. The highlights looked very natural. I also got a hair dress. I came in for a consultation and he patiently went through all the options. It took a couple of days to come in and he made sure it blended in so natural. I've been getting lots of compliments since. I did spend around $500 for highlights and a cut which is a too pricey for me to keep coming in consistently. read more

From the moment I walked in to the smiling faces when I walked out, what a great overall experience! I don't know what these other people are talking about, but the moment I walked in, the receptionist Belle greeted me with a robe and asked if I'd like anything to drink. She brought me a hot tea and I was directed immediately to a chair to get my hair highlighted. After the long process and my thick hair, I went to get my hair washed. The woman who washed my hair, Bertha, literally put me to sleep when the water started running, she massaged my scalp and took her time. I didn't feel rushed like so many other salons make you feel (Ladies you know what I'm talking about). Afterwards I was directed to my hairstylists chair, Eran Adri, and he went to work. I only needed to tell him a few things and he filled in the blanks. I'm obsessed with keeping the length of my hair and he made sure to cut just enough off. Let the blow drying begin! How he blowdried my hair with a round brush would take me hours with a blow dryer, iron, and curling iron. For a high-end salon, you're going to get a high-end experience. My time came sadly to an end, but I had been able to purchase some products recommended to me so I can re-discover the experience at home :) read more

I went to Francky L'Official salon to have my hair colored for the very first time. I was a little nervous since I had never processed my hair before, but quickly I realized I was in great hands. Francky himself took excellent care of me and reassured me that everything would be great, and I couldn't be happier with the results! From the color, to the cut, to the blow dry, I was pampered and the staff was very attentive. I would recommend this salon to anyone looking for a fantastic experience, with even better results. I had a google offer for a mani/pedi at this place and had a very good experience. The only things that I was not pleased with were the following: My appointment was at 1:30pm, then called and asked to move it to 2pm, which I was fine with. After getting there at 2pm, I waited an additional 15 minutes to be seen. The manicurist was constantly rushed by staff to get on to the next client, instead of allowing ample time between appointments to ensure that enough time spent with with each client. My manicure polish chipped the next day. They have organic nail polish but it seems this polish does not stick. My pedicure (Essie brand) is still holding up and looks wonderful. My favorite salon in the city! Not only is the staff super fun and friendly, but every time I go there I come out saying this is my best haircut yet. I never expect Francky to top the last one and he does every time! The ambiance is great and the haircut is worth every single penny! This is definitely THE place to go to get your hair done! I'm shocked anyone complained about the staff there, I have had the best experience every time I walk I was in there. They are so friendly and kind and make you feel like a day at the salon, not to mention the girls at the front desk are gorgeous and have beautiful hair as well! I have also used his products on my hair ( the paste and hairspray) and I can't find anything that works as well as them! They make my hair look amazing every time and not greasy at all which is hard to find. I love a naturally controlled look and thats exactly what the products do. The hairspray holds my hair yet doesn't make it feel like stray. (How that happens I don't get, but I LOVE IT) I also have recommended tons of people to go there including my sister and girlfriends and they said they have never had a haircut like that before. Francky surpasses any mediocre haircut you had in the past and makes you feel like a model walking out of the salon. GO TO THIS SALON IT IS THE BEST! I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. This is the absolute worst stylist I've EVER been to. I have very light highlighted blonde hair that I have spent YEARS working on and trying to keep healthy because we all know how easy it is to look like you've been electrocuted if you don't take care of it. From using the most expensive hair products and styling tools to carefully combing and styling it as not to break it... I took pride in having (past tense) beautiful blonde hair. Like most of us newbies to the city, the fear of finding a new stylist is like nothing else. A friend suggested that I go directly to Francky. I didn't care about price - obviously, I would do anything for my hair. I sat in the chair and as I tried to explain to him the history of my hair, how I'm trying to let it grow long and healthy and that it requires gentle care, I quickly realized that he did not want to hear a word out of my mouth. I should have run out never looking back but my polite, southern personality had me frozen in the chair. He began highlighting my hair with saran wrap (something I have NEVER seen before) all the while being a total jerk to his assistants. When I was through processing, he brought me over to the bowls where some random floor sweeper/towel folder began rinsing and washing my hair. Then SHE (not Francky) began applying the toner to my roots. He was not watching over the process and later met me in another chair to cut my hair. Again, I was trying to explain that I just wanted a little trim because I was growing my hair out. In one quick swipe, all of the hair from around my face was GONE. HE DIDN'T LISTEN TO ME! It was too late to say anything... it was ruined and no way to fix it. I like to compare the haircut he gave me to a mullet. Yes, a mullet. As he's drying my hair, I realize that my roots are ORANGE from the toner. It was clearly left in WAY too long. Then he proceeds to style my hair like an 80 y/o woman. Not long after, all of my hair began breaking off about an inch or two from the root. I then realized that he had double processed my hair - brushing the bleach over areas that were already processed, not just the root. Something a stylist as 'experienced' and expensive as he should know. Since I was referred by a friend of his (and mine), I did not say anything when checking out nor did I say anything when I began losing my hair but I knew that I would NEVER EVER EVER be returning to his salon. I literally cried for three days. It's been six months since my visit to Francky L'Official and I was hesitant to write a review because of the mutual connection but after this much time of utter disappointment, disgust and sometimes tears every morning when I fix my hair, I couldn't help but post this to make sure no one else has the same experience. read more

please save yourself and do NOT go here. very similar experience to heidi (below)-- had i read her review, i would've saved myself a LOT of trouble. this salon has so many problems, i honestly don't even know where to begin....... i made the mistake of trying this salon for the first time. right as i walked in, elizabeth, my stylist, was arguing with the hostess for overbooking her. she was clearly upset. as she worked on my hair, she was so incredibly rude-- i've honestly never had such a terrible customer experience. you know the salon has a problem when you have the same experience w/a second stylist... he ended up yelling and running out of the salon (most awkward moment ever) i've spent so much money on expensive hair products to keep my hair healthy and i've also spent years making sure i keep my hair color the shade i like it. and in one afternoon, everything was destroyed. my hair now feels absolutely horrible/dry, i can barely run my fingers through it. read more

This salon is very clean and the staff was nice but my haircut and highlights are not what I asked for. I went in with layered hair and came out with 5 inches off and everything the same length after asking for a trim. My new highlights look great on top but on the sides like they are grown out several weeks. Nancy said she did not think the layers were for me. Unfortunately for me, I liked them. She did not ask me how I styled my hair and after two blocks of walking my naturally wavy hair was already frizzy because there was no style done and no product used. I found that while Nancy was nice, she did not listen and did what she wanted rather than what I requested several times. read more

The other reviews of this salon are older and they have fixed whatever staffing issues they had, because I had a GREAT experience here. I was very nervous because I've spent a lot of money on my hair but went anyway because I already bought a Groupon for it. Nancy, who told me that she has been a hairdresser for 20 years gave me a full head of highlights and a cut/blowdry. I had ombre at one point and so the top was much darker than the bottom. She expertly evened it out by the way she applied the bleach and matched the top to the lighter bottom colors. She recommended products without being pushy or putting sales pressure on me. The whole staff was great and made sure I was comfortable. And they were VERY prompt and on top of it. I think we've all been there when bleach starts burning our scalp and we get nervous that we've been forgotten. That was not the case here. The girl at the front desk was also very nice. I have nothing bad to say about this salon and am thrilled with my hair. read more

I went here yesterday after buying a gift certificate on groupon. I was supposed to get a single process but on Elizabeth's suggestion, I added highlights and she works extremely fast and efficiently. She did the best job I ever had and I have been to all of the best salons, and it is around the corner. She also does one of the best blow drys! I have had in NYC. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst haircuts of my life. I went for full highlights and a cut and was lucky enough to get the owner, Francky. The highlights were good, however, not very close to my scalp so I had roots very soon after. The real problem was the cut. I have long blonde hair and asked for a simple 2 inches off to take off the dead ends. Francky must have been running late for his next appointment, because he took out MENS CLIPPERS, (yes, I mean the electronic clippers you see at a men's barber shop) and moved all my hair behind my back, combed it and then traced the clippers along the comb... THAT was my expensive, Upper East Side haircut... When I asked for more off with scissors, he grunted and said this is how he wanted to do it and used the clippers to take off more. I said, can we please clean up the front (as in my face framing pieces) and he said no. He walked away and greeted his older client with open arms. I left feeling horrible about my hair and violated that I received a 2 minute haircut from someone who OWNS the salon and that I paid a decent amount of money for...
