We wanted to try something new in the area and haven't had arepas in a long time so we figured WHY NOT! 11 degrees north is the perfect place to go for a variety of arepas. The menu was huge! I was overwhelmed but settled on the Pabellon. It was perfect. Exactly what I was craving and if you're a cheesehead, the amount they put on here is crazy! Both our arepas were made fresh to order and came out nice and hot. The beef was flavorful, not too overcooked and perfectly juicy (careful for the drip out the bottom). We also ordered the Caribbean coffee and the tropical smoothie. Both were good! The coconut milk gave it a wonderful flavor. Definitely different and if you're not a fan of coconut flavors, you will not like this. One caveat for me is I do wish they would serve the arepa on a small plate. I love how they stuff the arepas, but it can get messy and it's hard to catch everything that falls out in the small holder that it comes in. Not to mention I was getting cheese everywhere hahaha Overall, very delicious arepas and I would recommend for those looking to try something new!

Came back for round 2 with my fiance and boy was he delighted. He ordered a breakfast arepa. After telling me how much he loves the food between bites he also made sure to tell me how much he looooves me and how good my recommendations are. I had to go for round 2 on the cheesie sandwich. After extensive breakfast sandwich research in the north side of Chicago, I can confidently say this is my favorite one. From my first bite to my last all I can think is "oh my god this is the best thing I've ever eaten". Demolished in 10 bites. And so satisfied. Horchata latte was not my taste, but that doesn't mean it's not yours, so definitely still try it and make your own opinion! 10/10 on my second visit

I'm visiting with her from NC, and 11 Degrees is her favorite breakfast joint. My Eggie Biscuit was equally tasty, the egg had a flavorful saltiness to it. Overall, 6 out of 6 stars for the food, and the young lady at the counter was great too!

All I can say is what a gem this place is! We'd been eating breakfast at a bagel place close to our hotel... every morning. The place is close and the food is good, but when I saw 11 Degrees North just a short walk the other way I knew we had to go. The space is small, but comfortable. Menus cover the walls and are readily available in yelp pictures. They also have a website with all breakfast and drink options listed with all details. We were the first ones in the door after they opened. After being greeted with a smile, we ordered coffee while we reviewed the menu. So many options! We opted for the Havana and Santa Monica arepas. As we were enjoying our coffee, our food was brought from the kitchen and they let us know to come pick it up. These sandwiches were huge and hot and so delicious. The way my Santa Monica was filled provided different tastes from the top to the bottom. Cheese, egg and bacon were the immediate stars. The sausage was large enough to make it nearly to the bottom of the arepa. The chive cream cheese was more towards the bottom, so that flavor kicked in a little later. The last couple of bites were mostly arepa, which was great. The corn flavor was very fresh. With so many options, 11 Degrees North will be our breakfast go to for the next couple of mornings before we head home.

Curiosity draws me to 11 Degrees North. It looks intimate. 11 Degrees North reminds me of a cafe that I would find in a small town or it would make a perfect backdrop for a film. Joseph uses Ritual, a food app to order for me lunch. Seeing that I follow a vegetarian diet, he orders the vegetarian bowl. This comes with sliced avocados, sliced mushrooms, tomatoes, and lettuce on top of a bed or rice. It tastes heavenly. When I go to pick up my order, the wait staff gives it to me quickly. No hassles and done with ease, I like that. Come to 11 Degrees North for lunch or supper. Bring friends, family or even a date.

Ordered a caribbean coffee. The creme of coconut and caramel is a mixed syrup, so you can't get less of one, and I prefer the real thing. But this place has the best pricing out of a lot of other cafes which is a win for a go to coffee place. Feel like i cant write an adequate review without trying their food, but hey my experience was great and the worker was super patient and helpful.

After passing this place for years we decided to check it out. Tucked between N Halsted and N Clark is an amazing little Venezuelan Arepa shop with great coffee. We stopped by around 10:30am just as the morning crowd was easing up and ordered the Havana, Island Pork, and La Pelua arepa. Honestly they are all so flavorful and filling you probably just need one per person, but each has a unique flavor. The staff was friendly and didn't rush us as we were browsing the menu. The pork is tender and flavorful while the arepa itself is gluten free but compliments the filling well. We also ordered the Caribbean Iced Coffee and the Dulce de Leche Latte. The Caribbean has coconut and coconut flavoring that you would think would be overpowering but actually isn't and adds a fun twist. The place itself only had about 6 tables and the food comes out in these little metal holders. The only issue we ran into was the table was a little sticky from a prior patron so we covered it with napkins while we ate.

Before today I only got smoothies at 11 degrees north. Probably some of the best in the area for the price and ingredients. The employees are always pleasant and it's pretty quick to place an order, check out, and recieve your order. It's a small little place but there is definitely plenty of seating for you to sit by yourself or grab a bite with a friend or two. It's in a really good spot too, right by the Belmont red line station so you can grab some breakfast on your way to work!

This place is spectacular! Small cafe with about 6 tables & a huge menu of different sandwiches, drinks, and smoothie bowls. I had the La Pelua Arepa and it was incredible. The shredded beef was so flavorful. My friends loved their biscuit & bagel sandwiches as well. It seems like you can't go wrong with what you pick - everything is amazing! Came here for a grab n go breakfast. I went with the Eggie biscuit sandwich. It was priced well for what you got. It only took 5-10 minutes to be served and I was out the door. The sandwich itself was just okay, I probably would have gone with the arepa to try something different than the biscuit. It needed a little cheese or hot sauce, neither of which I had while traveling. Service was friendly! read more

Small business with a huge menu! :) I was a little discouraged they are only open for breakfast and lunch, but was blown away with the breakfast options when I was able to stop by over winter break! I absolutely loved everything about the Santa Monica arepa - The chive cream cheese is something special!! Service is a little slow because they are making everything from scratch, but they are up front about that and it's well worth the wait! Seating is pretty simple since it's counter service, but we found space for 6 people comfortably! Will definitely be back! read more

Check out this cool little cafe, where they crank the flavor up to 11! 11 Degrees North is a Venezuelan restaurant with smoothies and arepas as the main things to get here. It has a pretty big menu for a small place. Good place for plant based choices. The prices aren't too bad on most things. Any of the smoothies are good. It has quite a few, with fresh ingredients. The one I got was the Bam Smoothie. It's about $7 for a small one. This is pretty thick though. It makes it seem like there's more in it. This has almond butter, avocados, blueberries, chia seeds, coconut water, and mangos. Full of protein and fruit flavor. The arepa I got was the Palm Shade. It's about $8 for arepas. This one has avocados, hearts of palm, hummus, mushrooms, red onions, and spring mix. It didn't look like much but there was a lot on it. This made a pretty satisfyingly good lunch. Has a few tables for indoor dining. It's a small place so it's not good for big groups. They currently are only open for breakfast and lunch and close early in the evening, so get here in time for some Venezuelan. read more

I had the mixed berry smoothie, and two donuts. I really liked the smoothie, they had a lot of really great options. The donuts were pretty on par for a decent Chicago cafe. Service was super nice, but it is a bit crammed in the space. There aren't a lot of seating options. I also wish there were more caffeine free options besides smoothies, as I am unable to have caffeine but love tea (so herbals, non-caffeinated teas are a great and usually common option). Super reasonably priced too, i'd say it's pretty on average. Nothing crazy fabulous. read more

SOOOOO GOOOOD! I saw a review on The Food Guy and Steve was right, DELISH. I had the Pelua Arepa and Papelon Caribeann drink. The arepa was perfectly crispy and slightly chewy, well seasoned shredded beef with plantains for added sweetness topped with gouda. I mean, how can you not love that. Since I was up north, I swung by Amici (featured on Keith Lee) and said nope to the line. This spot came up on Yelp and I'm glad I came. An arepa is a sandwich made with hot water cornbread. The chicken was juicy and seasoned without being overwhelming. Everything was fresh and blended well. I also had a chai spiced horchata. I love chai and I love horchata, but it was not what I was expecting. A bit thick, and not the flavor profile I was expecting. Subtle worked for the chicken seasoning but not this drink. The space has seven tables and is very cute. Service is friendly. If I lived near I would add them to my lineup, especially for breakfast sandwiches. Ordered the Santa Monica breakfast arepa and the food came out very fast. The arepa was thin and crispy so kind of like an English muffin. They had a very large menu so I asked for a recommendation and went with the suggested. I love the quaintness of it. I go there to write sometimes. It can get pretty loud, but for me it's not a problem. Their coffee is so good and affordable. And the arepas and sandwiches are really wonderful too. Came here for something to eat leaving Brown elephant. Cute space and warming smile from cashier. I got the Chicken arepa with mayo, cheese, and avocado. I wanted to like this sandwich so bad. The chicken was so fatty and no flavor but mayo. It was very mushy. The sandwich I thought would be hot/warm but no, it was almost cold. Best Arepa I've had in Chicago. Everything is so fresh, hot and wonderfully delicious. I loved that there's an extensive gluten free menu, especially for someone that is gluten intolerant. Service by the staff is kind, and though the food takes a minute to come out, it's definitely worth the wait. I recommend ordering a coffee to hold you over while you wait. If you're in the Lakeview neighborhood, this place is a must! 11 Degrees North serves Venezuelan arepas and wowww I'm in love with these pockets of mouthwatering joy. I got the Island Pork arepa, which is a fan favorite according to the friendly cashier, and it was full of textures, BBQ saucy goodness, all packaged in a neat handheld meal. Perfect amount of food for a great price. The establishment was clean but they didn't have a bathroom so I went across the street to Target. It was a busy lunch hour so I was told it would take about 20 -25 minutes, which was the perfect amount of time for me to browse and get sucked into looking at random things at Target. When I came back the rush of people were gone and my meal was piping hot and waiting for me. This place is such a treat! Definitely recommend for a casual lunch or dinner. It also has a lot of fun coffee drinks on the menu that are unique and sound delicious! read more

Eleven Degrees was great! Tucked away in a cozy corner on Belmont, the warm atmosphere was inviting on a cold day. I ordered a chai latte and the Island Pork arepa, which were both delicious. The staff were super friendly when ordering and getting our food. The flavors in the arepa all blended together perfectly despite being so different. My one complaint would be that for the price I would've loved more food. Otherwise, I had a great experience dining here! read more

Please go check out 11 Degrees North if you have not already. The arepas are the best I've ever had, my favorite is the Pelua sandwich. It's a shredded beef sandwich with fried plantains and a cilantro sauce. They have a huge drink selection as well, I'm a huge fan of their lattes. The espresso is good quality and even the speciality drinks are really affordable. I'll definitely be back to try their smoothies in the near future. The employees are always very nice and the inside pretty spacious. There's lots of seating but sometimes it gets pretty packed. Definitely worth checking out if you're nearby :) read more

Second time at 11 Degrees North. Even after all the delicious arepas I've eaten across the Chicago area, 11 Degrees North still stands out for their variety of flavor combinations (seriously, SO MANY combinations), value, and convenience. I've tried La Pelua and Catirota. You can't go wrong with either, but I'd recommend La Pelua if you are in the mood for a sweet & savory option and Catirota if you want something that's lighter or love garlic sauce. Another standout of my experiences at 11 Degrees North has been the drinks. I've had an iced chai and a warm matcha latte, and both have been comparable to those I've had at my favorite coffee shops in Chicago. You really can't beat the price either. Next time I visit, I hope to try their specialty drinks or acai bowls. read more

This place is a staple for my husband and I. I moved to Chicago ~5 years ago and have been getting the Santa Monica Arepa delivered almost every Sunday for as long as I can remember. I'm celiac and finding a place that I can have an amazing breakfast is a luxury. Thank you 11 Degrees North for fueling my husband and I's Sunday hangovers for the past 5 years! A short walk from the iconic Wrigley Field you will stumble apon a quant little Venezuelan breakfast place with great food and even better service. Everyone needs to stop at 11 Degrees North for the best Venezuelan food in Lake View, hands down. This Latin owned business knows how to pack so much flavor in every single bite. We got the Porkie biscuit sandwich which had the fluffiest biscuit and bacon that melted in your mouth. We also got the Havana arepa sandwich that was recommended by the worker and it was so delicious. The pickles had a nice vinegar pairing with the tender pulled pork. Immediate thoughts walking in was this place is so cute not like your traditional Chicago cafe. It's so hard to find an authentic arepas restaurant, but 11 Degrees absolutely nails it. The decor fits in so wonderfully with the menu--which is MASSIVE and so unique. I could not decide on which of the arepas to chose and eventually went with the Ocean Breeze. Definitely one of the best arepas I've ever had (the avocado sauce was killer) and I can't wait to come back and try their others / açaí bowls. The coffee menu was also a standout. I work in the area and finally got the chance to try this place :) soooooooo good!!!! I had the 'island pork' if i remember correctly, it was pulled pork, plantains, and goat cheese. The staff was super sweet as well, and the wait wasn't too long. I was on my way to the movies, and I saved my arepa to eat there. I've eaten at 11 Degrees North a few times while visiting my sister in Chicago and their arepas and lattes are absolutely delicious! My personal favorite is the Santa Monica arepa and the Turmeric Latte (don't knock it before you try it). The variety of arepas that they offer is outstanding, and they even have an option to build your own. The reason for my 4 stars instead of 5 is because they're often short-staffed and it takes a while just to get your order placed. Additionally, I've found that the folks at the counter are usually a bit dismissive and rude. While the wait times once you place your order are usually a little slow, there's trade-off for the quality of arepa that you receive! Overall, this is a staple whenever I visit Chicago, and their food is delicious! However, I think that the folks there can be a little bit friendlier and their service would benefit from a couple of other hands on staff read more

I don't leave many reviews, but I couldn't leave the restaurant without saying GOODNESS ME, was this the most incredible brunch. I LOVE bagels, but am constantly disappointed by lackluster "best in town bagels" and the fact that these are not the main attraction says something in how amazing they are here. The arepas, the biscuit sandwiches, the smoothies... all crafted so beautifully and taste even more amazing. Absolutely deserving of five stars, and recommendations all around!! I've walked by this place so many times and for whatever reason never stopped....until today! After reading a neighbors recommendation on a Lakeview Facebook group, I just had to. And it did not disappoint. I ordered the breakfast sandwich on a bagel which was unique in that it had both cheddar and cream cheeses. It sounded weird, but certainly didn't taste weird. It was delicious! My husband had the Parrot Arepa which was amazing as well. I will certainly be back to try other arepas as they have many more lunch/dinner (non-breakfast) options that sound equally as good. Also had the cold brew which was great. As an added bonus they're on Ritual so you can order ahead...which I recommend as arepas can take a little time to make. read more

This is one of my favorite places to get breakfast and a coffee (though they offer a lot more than just breakfast and coffee). My personal favorite is the Santa Monica arepa with a Caribbean iced coffee. You can't go wrong with either of those. Their coffee is delicious and they have a full menu of coffee drinks and different types of lattes. The environment is very nice and a good place to complete some work or study. Every time I have visited 11 Degrees North, everyone working there has been very kind and completed my order quickly. I definitely plan on coming back soon to try their lunch menu, as they do offer many other arepas that I have not tried yet. If you're in the area, definitely stop in! read more

My husband was so disappointed that he suggested we just leave. We went inside to pay for the drink and saw that there was hardly any customers inside. Our waitress was chatting with the cooks. The hostess was quite kind and they escorted us to another room that had multiple floors, two I believe. We were sitting in the main dining area where dining tables were set up and the ceiling lights and decorations were super-duper colorful. It was brightly lit and festive. Seriously, the colors alone could make anyone happy and do a serious dopamine overload which was fine with me. We sat down, was introduced to our server, Oscar and then given menu's. I digress, now that we had our menu's-- Let the party begin!! We started with the ceviche tasting which included four types of ceviche; shrimp, Yucatan style hamachi, salmon and tuna. To top the night off, they gave me a little birthday treat of cotton candy and carmel popcorn. We also had some tres leches which was so yummy because the fruit was fresh and you could taste the milk in the tender cake and then we had the chocolate cigar. Prosciutto Croissant (4.5/5): Pastry again impeccable with sharp saltiness from the prosciutto and cheese. Still absolutely delicious, but hard to recommend with how good the other items were. Longanisa Breakfast Sandwich (5/5): Another life changing bite. Hash brown add on is unbelievably crunchy against the egg bite that is pillowy soft and fluffy roll. Longanisa is salty and sweet, just the best way to start your morning. Lumpia (3.75/5): Comes out piping hot and the meat still stays juicy and bouncy. Good, not crazy. Filipino Breakfast with Longanisa and Tocino (4/5): Garlic rice is fluffy, but heavy on the garlic exactly like I love it. Sunny side up eggs were perfectly cooked and the two meats were actually the weakest components, a bit chewier than expected. Chicken Adobo (4.25/5): Chicken has almost a nice char on the outside and doused in a tangy sauce with crispy garlic bits. Tender and juicy, personally preferred this over the longanisa and tocino. Sweet Corn Hojicha (2/5): Only real whiff that we tried. While you could really taste the corn, unfortunately ended up being wayyyy too sweet and I couldn't have more than a sip or two.

Which makes sense given the sheer volume of people they serve, so you'll have to try and snag one of the few seats along the edges. Once we finally ordered, the service was incredibly fast. The sandwich came out in less than 5 minutes! It was definitely a good, tasty sandwich, but I wouldn't say it was amazing. Ultimately, while I enjoyed the food and the beautiful space inside, I probably wouldn't wait 45 minutes in the blazing sun to get it again.

The crust was thin and crispy, with a large air cavity, making it very soft and fluffy. The salted egg yolk has just the right balance of sweetness and saltiness, and wasn't too cloying. Garlic Cheese Brioche Bun蒜香奶酪麵包: Perhaps its more Taiwanese name is "八蒜包" (Eight Garlic Bun). Its appearance and taste were very similar to those I've had at Taiwanese bakeries in mainland China. The cheese and garlic flavors were very strong, but the bread itself was slightly coarse. Hojicha Latte: The whole milk was very milky, but the hojicha flavor felt a little weak. However, it's already great to find a tea latte that's not very sweet.

Best coffee in town! Used to be dollop coffee and now 11 degrees north has one upped its predecessor... great tables to study or do work on your laptop. Wifi is brilliant not spotty at all.
