We wanted to try something new in the area and haven't had arepas in a long time so we figured WHY NOT! 11 degrees north is the perfect place to go for a variety of arepas. The menu was huge! I was overwhelmed but settled on the Pabellon. It was perfect. Exactly what I was craving and if you're a cheesehead, the amount they put on here is crazy! Both our arepas were made fresh to order and came out nice and hot. The beef was flavorful, not too overcooked and perfectly juicy (careful for the drip out the bottom). We also ordered the Caribbean coffee and the tropical smoothie. Both were good! The coconut milk gave it a wonderful flavor. Definitely different and if you're not a fan of coconut flavors, you will not like this. One caveat for me is I do wish they would serve the arepa on a small plate. I love how they stuff the arepas, but it can get messy and it's hard to catch everything that falls out in the small holder that it comes in. Not to mention I was getting cheese everywhere hahaha Overall, very delicious arepas and I would recommend for those looking to try something new!

Came back for round 2 with my fiance and boy was he delighted. He ordered a breakfast arepa. After telling me how much he loves the food between bites he also made sure to tell me how much he looooves me and how good my recommendations are. I had to go for round 2 on the cheesie sandwich. After extensive breakfast sandwich research in the north side of Chicago, I can confidently say this is my favorite one. From my first bite to my last all I can think is "oh my god this is the best thing I've ever eaten". Demolished in 10 bites. And so satisfied. Horchata latte was not my taste, but that doesn't mean it's not yours, so definitely still try it and make your own opinion! 10/10 on my second visit

I'm visiting with her from NC, and 11 Degrees is her favorite breakfast joint. My Eggie Biscuit was equally tasty, the egg had a flavorful saltiness to it. Overall, 6 out of 6 stars for the food, and the young lady at the counter was great too!

All I can say is what a gem this place is! We'd been eating breakfast at a bagel place close to our hotel... every morning. The place is close and the food is good, but when I saw 11 Degrees North just a short walk the other way I knew we had to go. The space is small, but comfortable. Menus cover the walls and are readily available in yelp pictures. They also have a website with all breakfast and drink options listed with all details. We were the first ones in the door after they opened. After being greeted with a smile, we ordered coffee while we reviewed the menu. So many options! We opted for the Havana and Santa Monica arepas. As we were enjoying our coffee, our food was brought from the kitchen and they let us know to come pick it up. These sandwiches were huge and hot and so delicious. The way my Santa Monica was filled provided different tastes from the top to the bottom. Cheese, egg and bacon were the immediate stars. The sausage was large enough to make it nearly to the bottom of the arepa. The chive cream cheese was more towards the bottom, so that flavor kicked in a little later. The last couple of bites were mostly arepa, which was great. The corn flavor was very fresh. With so many options, 11 Degrees North will be our breakfast go to for the next couple of mornings before we head home.

Curiosity draws me to 11 Degrees North. It looks intimate. 11 Degrees North reminds me of a cafe that I would find in a small town or it would make a perfect backdrop for a film. Joseph uses Ritual, a food app to order for me lunch. Seeing that I follow a vegetarian diet, he orders the vegetarian bowl. This comes with sliced avocados, sliced mushrooms, tomatoes, and lettuce on top of a bed or rice. It tastes heavenly. When I go to pick up my order, the wait staff gives it to me quickly. No hassles and done with ease, I like that. Come to 11 Degrees North for lunch or supper. Bring friends, family or even a date.

Ordered a caribbean coffee. The creme of coconut and caramel is a mixed syrup, so you can't get less of one, and I prefer the real thing. But this place has the best pricing out of a lot of other cafes which is a win for a go to coffee place. After passing this place for years we decided to check it out. Tucked between N Halsted and N Clark is an amazing little Venezuelan Arepa shop with great coffee. We stopped by around 10:30am just as the morning crowd was easing up and ordered the Havana, Island Pork, and La Pelua arepa. Honestly they are all so flavorful and filling you probably just need one per person, but each has a unique flavor. The staff was friendly and didn't rush us as we were browsing the menu. The pork is tender and flavorful while the arepa itself is gluten free but compliments the filling well. We also ordered the Caribbean Iced Coffee and the Dulce de Leche Latte. The Caribbean has coconut and coconut flavoring that you would think would be overpowering but actually isn't and adds a fun twist. The place itself only had about 6 tables and the food comes out in these little metal holders. The only issue we ran into was the table was a little sticky from a prior patron so we covered it with napkins while we ate.

Before today I only got smoothies at 11 degrees north. Probably some of the best in the area for the price and ingredients. The employees are always pleasant and it's pretty quick to place an order, check out, and recieve your order. It's a small little place but there is definitely plenty of seating for you to sit by yourself or grab a bite with a friend or two. It's in a really good spot too, right by the Belmont red line station so you can grab some breakfast on your way to work!

This place is spectacular! Small cafe with about 6 tables & a huge menu of different sandwiches, drinks, and smoothie bowls. I had the La Pelua Arepa and it was incredible. The shredded beef was so flavorful. My friends loved their biscuit & bagel sandwiches as well. It seems like you can't go wrong with what you pick - everything is amazing! Arepas were terrific - tasty ingredients, cornbread sandwich so good. I had the lox / cucumber/ avocado / Venezuelan cheese arepa. My wife had one with pork, cheese, more - called the "Pelau" we think. There are a couple dozen arepas to choose from, all in the $9-11 range. Coffee was excellent. The staff were lovely. Fun location in Lakeview / Belmont theater district, walkable from Lincoln Park. Definitely a find. One star off - only half a star, really - for the beat up furniture and having to be let through to restroom - so consider this a 4 1/2 star rave. I would become a "regular" if I lived here. read more

It is in the most crowded junction in chicago. But this tiny cafe has to be my favorite Arepa joint in a 300 mile radius. It has a tropical vibe and the staff is very sweet. The food is extraordinary. Vegetarians and Vegans, you have something to cherish as well. Dont miss out on the Drinks. They are an adventure themselves. My recommendation: Pick an Arepa you like. But have it with a Cocada. Dont think there is a better way to start your weekend. read more

I strolled in here to get some work done on my laptop and grab a tea, and I was so surprised by this unassuming coffee shop! There is PLENTY of open seating with outlets galore, for anyone looking to study or work. While I was in I decided to order a bacon egg & cheese bagel. Although they were out of almost all of their bagels and it was only around 5pm... the bagel itself was so so good. This place offers a ton of different specialty tea options as well, which I appreciate. Side note, I LOVE the fact that they have acai bowls on the menu too... and it will definitely be the first thing I order next time I'm in. Overall I 100% recommend anyone to stop into this cute little shop, although part of me hopes I can still keep this best kept secret to myself :) read more

Ok a couple of things. The food here is absolutely delicious, don't get me wrong. Prices are good too. Unfortunately this place is extremely dirty though, I'm not sure if they ever really clean. Also, the girl working the register was oddly saving one of the tables with her phone, fanny pack, and tumbler while people were waiting to be seated. She'd just go over there to text, but was not actually using the table. It was odd. Also, they don't have a bathroom. Anyways the food here is great, it's just a couple of odd things that make me not want to come back read more

we accidentally stumbled upon this cafe just walking around for a healthy smoothie. The windows were a bit dirty but it did not stop us. They readily customize your smoothies to your liking. The sandwiches are reasonable with a lot of filling. We are lucky to have found this place. Highly recommended and we will be back. read more

Found this quaint like restaurant spot while looking for some breakfast spots in Lincoln Park area. I'm glad we chose this one out of the few we had in mind. The staff was very friendly and patient with us. Cold brew was delicious! We tried the Eggie sandwich on bagels and it was just what we were looking for. Would love to come back and try some of the other sandwiches on the menu. The atmosphere is classic coffee shop. There's the student studying in the corner, the couple out for breakfast and coffee, and the friends catching up on the latest gossip. Seems like the perfect place to grab a quick coffee or sit down for lunch. read more

I finally had the chance to try this place before a event in Halsted last night. Pictured is the veggie bowl and horchata latte. So good! The veggie bowl has hummus, mushrooms, onions, lettuce, a sauce and cucumbers. Just the right portion served in a container made from recycled material. The horchata latte was iced and oh so good. I placed my order and had time to have my eyebrows threaded next door. Great flavor, great service, great location near North Halsted formerly Boystown. Women owned. Some seating. You can pass by this place 100 times and not notice. It's very unassuming. However, each time you pass would be a mistake because this expertly crafted South American cuisine is one of Chicago's hidden gems. While they do offer lots of coffee, smoothies, and bagel sandwiches- I come for the Arepas sandwiches. My personal favorite is the La Pelia which is packed with shredded beef, Gouda cheese, fried plantains, and garlic-cilantro sauce. They say they're gluten free but that's naturally so, which means no weird taste, just savory goodness that will make you let out some soft moans of enjoyment -- so maybe don't come here with people you don't know that well. The Arepas are perfectly portioned as well - making this place a great lunch option. In any case, the venue's ambiance isn't particularly special and it's just a casual counter services - but the food alone rates the 5 star review. read more

RATING: 9/10 WOW!!! That would be my one word review for 11 Degrees North. We ordered the Catirota and La Pelua arepas which were mouth-wateringly good. The Catirota was my favorite--the chicken was so tender and the flavors were insane!! If you like sweet and savory things, highly recommend the Catirota arepa! La Pelua was also a wonderful experience--it had a strong tomato flavor that was wonderfully balanced by the plantains. I also had a chai latte which was super flavorful and had just the right amount of spice. This place not only has arepas but also smoothie bowls and a wide selection of cafe drinks/smoothies. I will definitely be coming back often in the future to sample all of the diff arepas!! read more

It's hard to miss this lil' shop with its fun window decals. I was immediately greeted with a friendly smile when I walked in, so the vibes were already good. I ended up ordering an iced hazelnut latte w/ oat milk & it was super tasty (a bit on the sweeter side though). Despite it being a lunch time rush (they had like 20 online orders come in at once!!!) it didn't take too long for my drink to be done. I stayed for a couple hours and it did get pretty packed inside, so come before lunch if you want a seat. We stumbled on 11 Degrees North completely by accident. We were hot, tired and hungry and they met all of our needs. Cold AC on a surprisingly hot Chicago afternoon. We ordered arepas - one with pulled pork and the other shrimp - and they were both great although the pork was better. In fact it was so good, we brought an extra one home with us. read more

Arepas and lattes were all delicious! I had the Ocean Breeze, Venezia and Palm Shade. We were in town for three days and enjoyed breakfast/lunch at same place. My daughter's favorite is the Pabellon. The arepa shells were so fresh. It was just the right amount of food. I typically don't drink lattes but the days were so hot and hadn't had my morning coffee. So I had the chilled Dulce de Leche Latte and the Rosemary Honey Latte two different days. I asked for one shot of espresso. Two would be too many for me personally. I highly recommend this place. I will be visiting again when I go back to Chicago for sure. read more

This cafe had the best arepas in town! I ordered the santa monica breakfast arepa, which had eggs, sausage, bacon, and cheese. It paired perfectly with the chive cream too. The arepa was like a thin corn muffin. Only complaint is that service is a bit slow, they must have a small kitchen in the back. We saw a lot of people have to go orders. Cafe space is small too. We were lucky to snag a seat only cause a few people left before us. read more

This is the best coffee I've had in Chicago. The breakfast items were fantastic including bagel sandwiches and arepas. There were only a few tables and service was quick and accommodating for our preferences. It's also one of the least expensive breakfast restaurants we've had in the area. A casual experience, there were lots of locals coming in this Saturday for coffee and other items. We will definitely be back. read more

Consistently delicious and prepared to a very high standard. The people who run this place obviously care deeply about the food. Today I got the Catirota arepa. The avocado and cheese is warm and creamy, the plantains slightly sweet, and the arepa itself both crispy and spongy. I recommend considering this place instead of Starbucks when you want a quick breakfast and coffee. read more

She left and we figured she would be back in 5 min to get our order. 15 minutes passed by and she did not come back. There were no other tables being serviced. Why would she take that long? My husband was so disappointed that he suggested we just leave. We went inside to pay for the drink and saw that there was hardly any customers inside. Our waitress was chatting with the cooks. Such a disappointment. She didn't even look back to acknowledge us. I just found the next waitress to pay for my drink. My husband never wants to come back. Sorry Bienmesabe.

When we first got there, the outside was very unassuming. Some awesome graffiti on the wall (yes, angel wings included) and lots of color which made me so happy! As we entered, we were greeted by lots of colored flora on the walls and the floor. It led to a beautiful lounge where we checked in. The hostess was quite kind and they escorted us to another room that had multiple floors, two I believe. We were sitting in the main dining area where dining tables were set up and the ceiling lights and decorations were super-duper colorful. It was brightly lit and festive. Seriously, the colors alone could make anyone happy and do a serious dopamine overload which was fine with me. We sat down, was introduced to our server, Oscar and then given menu's. I genuinely thought that this place was pretty small initially because it looked small from the outside but boy was I wrong! This place was MASSIVE. But! I digress, now that we had our menu's-- Let the party begin!! We started with the ceviche tasting which included four types of ceviche; shrimp, Yucatan style hamachi, salmon and tuna. All were really good with their own really distinct flavors but our top favorites were the salmon and the tuna. The salmon had a kick while the tuna had a great balance of heat and sweetness. The mashed potatoes were soft but not too soft and buttery. They were really good and then the Purvian Jalea was another favorite, super good! The calamari, fish and shrimp with the Purvian Jalea were absolutely delicious; fresh, tasty and well breaded. It was absolutely yummalicious. To top the night off, they gave me a little birthday treat of cotton candy and carmel popcorn. We also had some tres leches which was so yummy because the fruit was fresh and you could taste the milk in the tender cake and then we had the chocolate cigar. The chocolate cigar was also really good, everything except the label was edible, It was smokey, chocolately and delectable. It's presentation was also so creative. We all loved it. Overall, this restaurant is SUPER PRICY but SUPER WORTH IT. I am so glad that I was able to go there to celebrate a special occasion because it would not be a place that I could go to on a regular basis but as much as I wish I was, ya girl ain't rich like that. The service was superb, the employees were kind, the food was fire and drinks were scrumptious. Then there a bigger room with lots of dinner tables and another upstairs.

Truffle Croissant (5/5): A must get, super intense black truffle against a perfectly flaky and chewy buttery croissant. The large bits of pearl sugar add pops of sweetness that I loved. Mango Tart (4.75/5): Mango really shines through with melt in your mouth texture and fruity sweetness. Coconut pasty cream adds almost a nutty flavor and luscious mouthfeel to contrast against the lightly crunchy cookie crust. Prosciutto Croissant (4.5/5): Pastry again impeccable with sharp saltiness from the prosciutto and cheese. Still absolutely delicious, but hard to recommend with how good the other items were. Longanisa Breakfast Sandwich (5/5): Another life changing bite. Hash brown add on is unbelievably crunchy against the egg bite that is pillowy soft and fluffy roll. Longanisa is salty and sweet, just the best way to start your morning. Lumpia (3.75/5): Comes out piping hot and the meat still stays juicy and bouncy. Good, not crazy. The outside is super cute too it actually caught my eye when I first found them on Yelp, and it's just as charming in person. I tried the Teddy Graham latte on the barista's recommendation, and I'm so glad I did. It had great flavor without being overly sweet, and I got it with whole milk which made it perfectly smooth and comforting. Quiet and adorable, this place is fantastic! The coffee is good but the arepas are WONDERFUL! I've been here a couple times now and have loved everything I've gotten. New place, with a great tropical vibe. I got their coconut smoothie,Called a Cocata or something, it was amazing, very refreshing. They also have what they call Buddha Bowls, I have never heard of them but they sound good. I will definitely return for those. I did have a biscuit sandwich and it was really good. Best coffee in town! Used to be dollop coffee and now 11 degrees north has one upped its predecessor... great tables to study or do work on your laptop. Wifi is brilliant not spotty at all. Prices are absolutely amazing. Nothing over 5$ on the coffee side. My new go to study place. Highly recommended! read more
