    Chicken Arepe Sandwich
    Tom G.

I really like this place, it's very clean and the staff is very accommodating. I ordered the Chicken Arepe sandwich, it was very good with a good amount of fillings. I also ordered a cheese & potato empanada, I really liked how good the crust was cooked to perfection. I finished off my meal with strong coffee and Flan Dulce de Leche, it was delicious, smooth and creamy. I will go back in a heartbeat.

This is a new spot that I hadn't seen before. What drew me in was the passionfruit juice and boba - two of my favorite things. When I stepped inside, I was greeted with the comforting smell of arepas and a large menu to choose from. The owner, Lili, was working the register, and the other owner was in the back making each meal fresh to order. EVERYTHING is fresh and made in house. All the baked goods (the alfajores, my favorite!) the empanadas, and even the juices made from scratch. Those were the best empanadas I've ever had in my life. They actually change out the frying oil every theee days to preserve freshness. They were so light compared to the usual heaviness of an empanada. They were perfect. And the sauces were divine. My favorite is the chipotle and the garlic sauce mixed together. Many Venezuelan places in the area tend to be "upscale" and therefore cost a pretty penny. This is well made "street-food" and is a nice way to eat food from the motherland without breaking the bank. The atmosphere is perfect. It's a well-lit place to get some work done without the music blaring like many other cafes. There is something for everyone there. I went back the next day and plan to take my family there soon. Buen provecho!

Came back to try the food and more coffee! The drinks here are very good. This time I tried the horchata latte and an arepa with shredded beef, black beans, and vegetable mix. They have tasty homemade sauces too.

I loved this place! The empanadas where amazing. The chicken one might have been my favorite and the pabellón a close second. Even the cheese and potato was amazing. I recommend you ask for the tomato sauce for the empanadas. I had the strawberry mango smoothie and it was made with real organic fruit and delicious. My friend had the peanut butter latte and she loved it too. The severs were very nice, attentive and flexible to my needs. I highly recommend it!

Loved this place, desserts are amazing and the owners very friendly!! 10/10

Tostones with pork, queso blanco and sweet plantain. Amazing combo!

I bumped into this little place while visiting my parents in the city thinking I would just try their coffee. I was so delightfully greeted by one of their owners who took her time to explain her Venezuelan/Columbian menu to me. So I asked her to give me the tostones the way she would eat them and I had to try their carne mechada empanada. Both new things I have never had. I sat at the table and she brought me house sauces from the back not on the menu, I felt like a guest of honor! Nonetheless I had what I like to call a "Ratatouille" moment if you ever watched the film. My taste buds exploded with so much flavor in the pork and the combination of the sweet plantain and fresh queso texture on the crispy tostones. I can stay there eating that all day! The coffee was just a drip coffee but excellent!! I have never had carne mechada so I tried it in the empanada it was also delicious!! I can't remember the last time I had such a "moment" trying new foods and this was it!! Please check it out for yourselves!! I will be driving 50 minutes just to have that moment over and over again!! - Tinley Park girl

They had a very nice bread server with four individual oval French loaves with very tasty butter. We tried the provoleta with peppers because we like that a lot in Argentina, but this was nothing like it and I guess that was to be expected. There they have a bunch of drier version of provolone and they grill it directly on the grill grates and it doesn't really melt too much. This tasted like standard provolone cheese and it was melted in a bowl. It was tasty, and unfortunately they probably can't get the Argentinian version of the cheese they would need to do it correctly. Our friends got the beef brochette with asparagus and the outside skirt steak and both were fabulous. Well seasoned and grilled and tender. My husband and I got the 2 pound stuffed fillet! It supposedly had ham in the filling but I couldn't taste it or see it anywhere. Unfortunately it had a really strongly flavored sauce along with the portobello mushrooms. We expected something with fewer herbs, which kind of overpowered the beef. It's a shame because the way they described it on the menu is not what came out. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't what we were expecting and unfortunately, the beef flavor was hard to discern because of all of the herbs in the dark brown sauce. We brought our own wine and they didn't even have a corkage fee, which was amazing! We saw other plates go by with copious amounts of tomatoes and onions on salads and the filet mignon platter, it seemed like it was three or four pieces of fillet it had to be nearly a pound for one serving. The prices are pretty steep for the beef and they do charge $10 for sharing, however it might be worth just getting one of the larger plates and spending the 10 bucks to share as opposed to getting an entrée each and taking home lots of food which we did.

The warm table bread and butter was pretty good so it was an effort to keep from eating too much and ruining our appetite. We split a chicken empanada to start which was really good, especially with the chimichurri sauce. For mains, we split the parillada para dos - a large meat platter meant for two. It was came with a little house salad and was a super good deal with all the meat they gave you (we ended up with lunch the next day, too!) The best part of the dish was the short ribs. Super soft and sort of fatty tasting, but not in a gross way, in a really yummy way. We also really liked the chorizo sausage. The flap tastes good, but was a little tougher than the other meat. The beef sweetbread and blood sausage were different, a little bit of an odd texture, but still good.

Intimate setting with just 7 seats at the chef's counter and 12 in the dining area. 9/13 dishes were great. There's no "smoke and mirrors" at the chef's counter. For an additional $20, we received two extra courses and an intimate look at a high-functioning, high-pressure kitchen. Chef Norman Fenton's exacting expectations are on full display. It's a masterclass in attention to detail, though the transparency comes with a side of tension. I loved the honesty of the experience, but if your goal is a serene conversation over dinner, the main dining room is the play. 5/5 Would be sad to never have again (1) * Chamoyada: Palate cleansers are always refreshing, but this was next level. Fruity and fresh heaven. 4.5/5 Great (8) * Chips and Salsa: Impressive to finish like a true salsa and chip. My wife loved * Chicharron: Rich corn and cheese dip. * Aguachile: Stunning visually. Lovely chile broth. * Quesadilla: Truffle uses well to round the dish. Super rich with black garlic. * Lamb: Super rich glaze. Great accompaniments from the beets and sauces. * Pineapple dessert * Horchata chai: Banana pieces were incredible. Good sweetness level. * Finishing bites: Nice 33% and 66% chocolate. Fun little bites. 3/5: OK (3) * Ravioli: Ravioli inside was rich, but overly so. Nice corn sauce but there was a corn component on the outside of the dish that had an unpleasant chewy flavor. * Tacos Dorados/Bluefin Tuna/Toasta: Love the idea of taco flight, and a great mix of textures. But none of the taco flavors hit for me. * Black Cod: Great components, but a sum that added up to less not more. Ultracrispy kale, but it tasted far better on its on. Nice green sauce and cod. Chayote texture felt out of place for me. 2/5 Not good (1) * Michelada: The Modelo beer foam dominated what I'm sure was lovely oyster.

I'm happy to report that when I went recently, we still really enjoyed it. It was my boyfriend's first time and he is now a fan and we both recommended it to our friend who lives in the area. You can also make reservations if you'd like although the times I've been, walking in is also fine. Last time we got the Bienmesabe Sampler, which is enough appetizers to share with four people lol. Our ranking of the items in the sampler were the tostones (soooo good), tequeño (my boyfriend loved), mandioca, and then the empanadas. The empanadas are my least favorite - I'd prob see if I could sub it out for something else in the future. I do like that they provide an assortment of empanadas. Then we got a cachapa with chicken - the cachapa itself was so good although next time we would try a different protein. Lots of delicious cheeses to be found - lactose-intolerant people should prepare accordingly.
