    CORN MEAL CAKES
    Dawn A.

Came here on a Saturday for a party of two and was seated right away. Service was very fast and friendly. They had an extensive menu that included some brunch favorites like omelettes and benedicts but also had some unique specials. I ended up getting the corn cake breakfast plate with two eggs over easy, Virginia ham, and a side of their buttermilk pancakes. The corn meal cakes were nicely spiced and very well constructed, definitely get this if you're looking for something new for brunch.

Service, food environment, 10 out of 10. If you are looking for a reasonable breakfast brunch lunch this is the place.. what you see is what you get trust me I'm there at least 3 to 4 times a month. Highly recommend chorizo, hash supreme., the hamburger and fries, chicken Benedicts , Diego's chicken sandwich. Everything is pretty good however, those are my favorites.

Clean restaurant, big portions, excellent service! Chilaquiles were delicious, as was the French toast.

It was my first time at this location, I am an avid Breakfast House goer. Similar menu and same vibe. Love eating here!

Staff was nice, my fried chicken eggs Benedict was so yummy. My vanilla latte was also good. They do share a bathroom with the hotel next door and the bathrooms were dirty so that's the only thing I didn't like ... we were able to get a seat pretty easily for 10 am on a Sunday! It started getting super busy afterwards though!

I was stomping along Chicago looking for a place to chow down and found a diner with room and food big enough to satisfy my T. rex appetite. Jessica J served this big ole boy all mornin'! Service with a smile, which isn't easy when you've got a T. rex staring you down. Rawr. The Mexican omelette was delicioso brought me back to the good ol' diner days of the Late Cretaceous era. I'll be coming back with some Triceratops buddies another day! Rawr

What a lovely little Breakfast House location! The interior is clean and bright. The staff was helpful and service was quick. Manager, Lauro, introduced himself and ensured our meal was excellent (it was). I really appreciate the hospitality and community vibe (: I will definitely return, with friends and family in tow.

Lemon french toast with whipped cream & lemon zest

I had wanted to try this place that I was introduced to on the Uptown Restaurant Walk in summer 2024. Went with a friend and we found the place, and our waiter Angel A. warm & friendly. One of their specialties that we sampled on the walk was their Hash. So I ordered the vegan hash, and found it to be fresher and healthier than I remembered. It came with spinach, bro, corn, tomatoes and corn. I chose a side of fresh fruit and am happy to report it had less melon than the average. I wanted something sweet after that so I asked what they had and learned that the lemon French Toast was on the sweet side. I certainly couldn't eat another dish, so the waiter suggested putting in a 'half order' request. I ended up with a full order and brought the rest home. It was utterly delicious not too sweet, but with fruit, whipped cream, lemon zest and powdered sugar dusting. Ambiance was a nice diner style place. Highly recommended!

Very tasty new breakfast joint in Uptown. The food was good, the service friendly, and the coffee strong. What more could I ask for?

There is outdoor seating under a pergola lined with semi-private planters, while the inside features a bar, high tops, low tops, and large booths. The music was upbeat, giving the space an elevated lounge vibe that pairs really well with the upholstered booths and vintage industrial design. I ordered the Wolf Burger, which is a whopping three-patty burger. That first bite was juicy and pure bliss--a total explosion of great flavors. It was a little messy (like all burgers with an egg), but the extra liquid was perfect for balancing the density of such a meaty burger. The soft bun soaked in a lot of those juices with each bite, intensifying the flavor as I ate more. The fries were thin and on the greasier side--not my personal favorite, but they worked alright as a vehicle for the sauce. Speaking of which, the chili aioli served with the fries was fantastic. We also got the mac and cheese, which hit a great balance between rich and creamy without feeling excessively wet. The boat it came in was a bit small, making it a little messy to scoop out with the serving spoon, but it was soooo good. Overall, it is absolutely a fantastic neighborhood place for comfort food and drinks with friends in a great space!

Let me start off by saying this was not a business I would…read morehave thought of going to because I don't just do salads as a meal unless it is a big giant taco salad, but for a work meeting, this was the place that lunch was ordered from. I got the Chicken Avocado Ranch for my selection (Antibiotic-free blackened chicken, avocado, pickled onions, apples, tortilla chips, white rice, chopped romaine, seed oil-free green goddess ranch) and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. As I was home on the Friday after the Xmas Day celebration, hungry, didn't want to cook/heat anything up, I decided to order this salad for dinner through Grubhub. While I was placing the order, I decided to try the Fish Taco for the next day's lunch (Antibiotic-free miso glazed salmon, avocado, shredded cabbage, cilantro, tortilla chips, herbed quinoa, spring mix). This bowl comes with a sweetgreen hot sauce & lime cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette, but I opted to switch that out for the Green Goddess Ranch and the Miso Sesame Ginger. I loved the fact that I would add or not include certain items. For example, I love goat cheese, so I add that to both bowls and it was delish. Delivery was pretty smooth, with the driver coming up to our floor to drop everything off. Both bowls looked visually pleasing and the overall taste was pretty good. The flavors were nice and there was a freshness to both bowls, even the Fish Taco one on the next day. FYI the Fish Taco bowl can only be ordered online, not ordered in the store...not sure why, but since I will not be going to the store, I am good with that. You also have the option to order a slice of bread with each bowl and that was nice. Next time I will see if I can get a second slice. Total cost for the two bowls, with some add-ons and service fee and tip was about $58. I will say it will be cheaper to go to the store and pick it up yourself, but I will pay to have stuff delivered to me for peace of mind. They do have an app for placing orders, but I will stick with Grubhub because that is free for me through Amazon. I realize sweetgreen has a mission statement about eating healthy, lowering their carbon footprint, a commitment to animal welfare, but before I knew any of that, I still would say the bowls were pretty good. Not that I crave salads or bowls that often, but if I do, this will be the first place I order from.

The dinner menu was quite different from the all-day menu; in particular there were more sides and entrees. I ordered the mixed grill for one ($36) with smoked lamb. The cut was lamb shoulder. Came with five thinly sliced pieces. I saw some reviews complaining that their lamb was too fatty. For lamb shoulder, however, I think the amount of fat was acceptable. But I wish there could be more meat. The meat was served over bejeweled rice. Basically it was an aromatic, turmeric & saffron spiced rice with dates, cashews and a tiny bit barberry (only found two). I wish there could be more barberry and fewer dates, because now it was purely sweet. This, together with the oil in the rice and my fatty lamb, made the dish a bit greasy. On the side I got some grilled long hots, grilled tomatoes, pickled cucumbers and tomatoes, ezme, zoug, tahini, and some freshly baked pita. The pita was soft, moist, chewy and paired well with everything else. I wish they could check if the pita was burnt, though -- one of my pita was burnt! Service was OK. Food came out quickly. It was chill to sit at the patio in a late summer, but they should put more lights. Indeed for half of my meal I had to use the flashlight on my phone for lighting lol.

Highly recommend the crab rangoon + soulful platter. ===== Stopped by one weekend near opening and was able to get seated right away! They have a good number of tables outside and inside and seem overall fairly popular since there were already a few tables before us. The menu is huge and had seemed to be mostly Asian-ish, with some other items sprinkled in. We ordered: - crab rangoon - 5/5 - very tasty and light, sauce was a great complement - soulful platter with 'chicken' wing - 4.5/5- loved the variety of components. The 'chicken' wing was a highlight and had great texture and flavor; cornbread was also really tasty. Mac and cheese had a strong nutritional yeast flavor, which I enjoyed, but kind of wish it were more cheesy. Mashed potatoes were ok. Generous portion of collard greens. - mush love - 3/5 - huge portion, but the breading was very thick and crunchy. I wish the individual pieces were split up more and the breading a bit lighter; i also wish the sauce were the same as the one for the crab rangoon. This one was more of a bbq. Definitely would come back to try more items on the menu! I was intrigued by the drinks, though they were extremely expensive (e.g. 9$+). I will not only never say that, but I will ALWAYS try something new. You should too. ON TO THE FOOD. I had heard talk of their Ramen, so I immediately ordered that. OH MY GAWD. It is so good. It tastes like "regular" ramen, but is 100% vegan. There was a strip of stuff (it was seitan) that looked like the pork belly that typically comes in Tonkatsu ramen. How is this not meat?! It was SO GOOD and had the texture of meat. But it wasn't meat. The broth is silky smoove, savory and . . . my gawd, I drank every single drop. The noodles and veg things that typically come in ramen were there, and just delicious. Writing this review, I am now craving this ramen. I took home an additional order of this ramen for my BF and he became obsessed as well! We had a couple other appetizers that were fantastic too! Some breaded mushroom app that was super tasty. I'm typically not a breaded food fan, but this was light and crispy and really tasty. The interior is spare, uncluttered, full of light and spotlessly clean. The staff is so helpful, friendly, and earnest with answering any questions. No booze, it's BYOB, but they have a lot of Kombuchas to try! A neighborhood gem that I will now keep in rotation when dining out.
