Bloody Mary was nothing to rave about but the food was good and it's a neighborhood classic

I'm so excited that they opened another Breakfast House further North! I was first introduced to the franchise when they opened the Lakeview location but since moving that location requires a train ride to visit. Plus it is always busy when the Cubs are in season so this new location in Uptown is perfect! The inside of the restaurant is spacious enough for a variety of smaller group sizes. They have ample seating for if you came with a larger party you may have to wait for them to accommodate you. I visited recently so it was well past patio season but they do offer outdoor dining when the weather is better. They have booths, standard tables, and a large counter seating area. The staff was extremely friendly! Our waiter was quick and didn't forget anytime. He even remembered a random add-on that normally doesn't come with the dish. I normally order the chicken and waffles anytime I visit Breakfast House so this visit was no different. This location is special because they offer alcoholic beverages. I ordered the margarita which came very quickly. The drink was well made and I could've easily seen myself order another one if it was that kind of visit. . The drink helped to past time as I waited for my chicken and waffles, the chicken is freshly fried so it typically takes some time. I recommend placing your order for the chicken and waffles soon after you arrive so you don't wait too long. The chicken and waffles was delicious! I was slightly nervous because I've been to the other location and always enjoyed the food so they had big shoes to fill. I was easily able to get a second meal from my order which makes the price reasonable. I look forward to coming back and exploring the menu a little more! read more

First visit to Breakfast House. Our two dishes were the House Hash (main menu) and Lemon French Toast (specials menu). My daughter and I split the meals to have a bit of sweet and savory. The french toast was delightful - not overly sweet, served with lovely presentation of fruit and blueberry drizzle. The Hash was robust and flavorful- great combo of ingredients. Staff we interacted with were all helpful and kind. They have free WiFi should you need it. Nice vibe inside. Not too crowded on a Thursday morning around 9:00. Came here on a Saturday for a party of two and was seated right away. Service was very fast and friendly. They had an extensive menu that included some brunch favorites like omelettes and benedicts but also had some unique specials. I ended up getting the corn cake breakfast plate with two eggs over easy, Virginia ham, and a side of their buttermilk pancakes. The corn meal cakes were nicely spiced and very well constructed, definitely get this if you're looking for something new for brunch. read more

Service, food environment, 10 out of 10. If you are looking for a reasonable breakfast brunch lunch this is the place.. what you see is what you get trust me I'm there at least 3 to 4 times a month. Highly recommend chorizo, hash supreme., the hamburger and fries, chicken Benedicts , Diego's chicken sandwich. Everything is pretty good however, those are my favorites. read more

Staff was nice, my fried chicken eggs Benedict was so yummy. My vanilla latte was also good. They do share a bathroom with the hotel next door and the bathrooms were dirty so that's the only thing I didn't like ... we were able to get a seat pretty easily for 10 am on a Sunday! This place is somewhat newer in the neighborhood and I've been meaning to stop by and try it out. Finally got the opportunity to do so and was very pleased with both the service and meal. We were sat at a two top table in the middle which was fine. Our server (Latino guy) was fantastic and had great little commentary and jokes the entire time. I ordered the chilaquiles but was bummed that they didn't have a more spicy option. The server warned me it wouldn't be spicy but said they could bring their house sauce. In the end, even the sauce wasn't that spicy so that was a bummer, but the taste and size of my food was fantastic. They also kept refilling our coffees which I really appreciated. I was stomping along Chicago looking for a place to chow down and found a diner with room and food big enough to satisfy my T. rex appetite. Jessica J served this big ole boy all mornin'! We stopped in for breakfast--nice hostess and very clean, new looking restaurant. I ordered a couple of eggs and a corn cake which was cooked and served nicely. The trouble is my partner ordered the chef special granola, and honestly this dish is odd. It's served in a shallow bowl with way too much milk. The menu describes raisins and pears in it; no raisins and a lot of very crisp small diced Granny Smith apples which doesn't really go with the granola. Finally the granola really wasn't good, just some sort of hard, bland oats besides the berries and coconut. They serve a corn cake on the side which, while it is good, has nothing to do with granola. My suggestion would be to eliminate the cake, cut the price, put it in a regular bowl and work on getting a better granola recipe. read more

I had wanted to try this place that I was introduced to on the Uptown Restaurant Walk in summer 2024. Went with a friend and we found the place, and our waiter Angel A. warm & friendly. One of their specialties that we sampled on the walk was their Hash. So I ordered the vegan hash, and found it to be fresher and healthier than I remembered. It came with spinach, bro, corn, tomatoes and corn. I chose a side of fresh fruit and am happy to report it had less melon than the average. I wanted something sweet after that so I asked what they had and learned that the lemon French Toast was on the sweet side. I certainly couldn't eat another dish, so the waiter suggested putting in a 'half order' request. I ended up with a full order and brought the rest home. It was utterly delicious not too sweet, but with fruit, whipped cream, lemon zest and powdered sugar dusting. Ambiance was a nice diner style place. Highly recommended! read more

Unfortunately, many people do not have the time or inclination to make a good breakfast. Breakfast House is a breakfast restaurant empire with several locations. We walked to our usual coffee place on Lawrence and saw balloons for an opening. We then saw that Breakfast House has an Uptown location. The space is nicely done and quite large. We were the second customer to walk in, and the service was welcoming. We sat in a comfy booth and ordered coffee (they showcase Intelligentsia) and apple french toast. The food was well-plated and good. Given they are in startup mode, the waiter offered us a tasting of the Chilaquiles and the Chorizo Hash. They make their own hash (which many restaurants do not) and the plating and flavors were great. This is a very good addition to East Lawrence. read more

The food was great and the price was great. Less than $40 for two people in the city? The service was quick and friendly and you can tell the owner cares. The caramel latte was also very good and it is so bright and clean on the inside. They also have the most adorable uptown neighborhood chalk drawing right now with the Up characters. This place is fabulous!! Portions that are out of control, maybe a 100 items on the menu, and each one of excellent flavor and quality.

We've been to some of the other locations and always enjoyed our food so when this one opened up closer to home, we had to give it a go! I'm so glad we did, the food is even better here and the service is super quick and friendly. They have some outdoor seating and while there's not much of a view, it sure is nice to sit outside when the weather is decent. We will definitely be coming back here for more omelettes and their killer chilaquiles! read more

I really liked Breakfast House Uptown's breakfast potatoes. They are these cute little, seasoned potatoes that are so good. Their breakfast, including sausage links and eggs was perfectly cooked. Have to admit I ordered the children's orange juice (it was freshly squeezed). Good food and fast delivery. read more
