Sprouting Chefs is new to the Ann Arbor area, and offers hands-on cooking classes for children and teens ages 8-16. Reasonably priced at $45 a session and conveniently located in the spacious kitchen of the Westminster Presbyterian Church on Scio Church Road, Sprouting Chefs offers attendees the chance to make new and theme based meals in a safe, fun and supportive environment. Throughout the 2 1/2 hour class, Lilian and an assistant provided supervision and instruction to the students, as they moved through all of the steps to make three age appropriate, yet creative menu items. In the class my daughter attended, they made a cucumber salad, homemade Southern-style macaroni and cheese, and mixed berry shortcakes with lemon curd. Completely at ease with the children, Lilian infused the class with instruction on technique, such as how to properly hold a knife; kitchen rules, such as to always say "behind" when you are coming behind someone with boiling water or a hot pan; and nutrition information, such as information on the differences between organic, locally grown and conventional produce. At the end of the class, which included a generous tasting of all the dishes, my daughter and her friends left with a take home bag of the dishes they had prepared and a recipe booklet so that they could make the recipes at home with their families. The girls had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend the class to other children and teens who enjoy and want to learn more about cooking.

She can cook different cuisines from French classic to Italian pasta, which will make you wonder why you shouldn't pay more than $15 for a pasta at a restaurant. The sea food classes are from fresh lobsters, clams, etc., from the east coast. She has the seafood ingredients flown in during the right time of the year, that's the reason you'll get limited seafood classes. I highly recommend at least one seafood class. The bourbon class has been a hit since last few years (approx. 7) and you'll understand what can you do with a simple Jim beam. The Indian cuisine is made with the exact Indian ingredients you will get in India, and spoiler alert, she will tell you the exact place you can buy turmeric and black pepper for $2 and not $20. What's the difference between a store bought mayonnaise vs homemade mayonnaise, real vanilla vs the imitation vanilla, when are where you should pay for food and why, and when are where you shouldn't waste your money on expensive food and why. And if you have gotten this far reading the review, you might wonder how do i know these things, and why i appreciate this place so much; it's because Mary and her team has made this business into a family, and experience and you can't beat what you get here. You will hear a lotta stories alongside cooking instructions and you will walk out with an intention to open your own restaurant. We were told we could bring up to 3 knives to be sharpened as well. Chef prepared a Butternut Squash Soup, a Baked Salmon with Vegetable Garnish, and a Fruit Plate. HFWB also offers a series of healthy cooking classes and if this was a preview of what those classes are like, I plan to become very familiar with DK.

You get the theater all to yourselves and if they don't have a kids movie currently playing then you can bring whatever DVD you want and they will show that. The kids each get popcorn and a pop. We also had pizza before hand that the parents of the birthday boy brought in, they also brought cupcakes for after the movie. It was a very fun day! This had been my first time to this theater and it was nice! It feels like you step back in time a little to when there was no such thing as 3D and 20 movies playing in one place! I will be back for sure!
