I have been driving old Saabs for 10 years now and I love them. I could probably fix many of the problems better than a 'generic' (read: non european car specialist) mechanic. Most mechanics look at my car and laugh at me. Literally. A number of them have actually given me a ton of free service because they can't figure out the right thing to drain for a simple oil change (this has gotten me, among other things, a free transmission fluid service and a radiator flush). What this means is that when I need something big done to my nearly 20 year old car that I love dearly, I need to find someone who isn't going to make whatever problem worse than it is. Or send me home with a handful of new problems that I subsequently won't be able to afford to fix. Enter European Motorsport. Other than the guys back at home in CT who have been fixing my many Saabs for as long as I have been driving them, this is the first place I have been in the area that actually knows what they are doing, and won't rake you over the coals the way a dealer will. Don't get me wrong: This doesn't mean they're cheap. What this does mean is that you know they are fixing the problem you actually came in for, using quality (Saab or Bosch, usually) parts, and leaving happy instead of wondering how long its going to take you to notice that something is MAJORLY wrong that wasn't when you went in. For simple oil changes and the like, I usually head to a quickie, no appointment place (because planning ahead is NOT my forte) but for anything requiring a half a brain and actual experience with foreign cars, this is where my old Swedish friend comes. I feel much better knowing the person working on my car has actually seen one before! If you have a Saab, Volvo, BMW, or any other European car that needs some tlc, bring it here.

I can say that he has literally saved me $$$ doing the work that he has done. I brought in my vehicle with a check engine light on at 6:00 pm on a Friday night (yup, after the shop closed) and he worked on it for forty five minutes, fixed the wiring issue and treated me fantastically. When I reach out to Jimmy, receipt in hand to refer to, he claims that because it was just over a year ago there's nothing he can do about it. My mistake was paying them cash and not by card to file a dispute. Will never make that mistake again. Jimmy never apologized and never took accountability-- that's the part that took me aback b/c I honestly felt like Jimmy was a nice guy and seemed honest. Not sure who's to blame but I don't appreciate shelling out $300 only to find out none of the work was done and no apology. I do believe that they are overwhelmed with the amount of cars that come in everyday and the guys are possibly overworked. Still doesn't excuse what happened! Gave me a bill of sale, said I'd contact my bank and off the transaction goes. Should've been done before End of Business day. I tried to contact the owner and he ghosted me for three days (Friday thru Monday) and finally said he sold the car to someone else, shortly before opening on Monday. Refused to talk or discuss what happened since. Careful and buyer beware of the bait and switch this guy does. You'll only waste your time and money.

One of the bays is open from time to time, but all of the traditional doors are locked tight and nobody is ever there. After trying the conventional doors, I finally waded into the garage and called out several times before the lone mechanic emerged from the far side of the most distant bay. I tried to explain my problem and interest in having him look at my car, but he seemed totally uninterested. I'm not sure if it was my heels, my short skirt or just the fact I was female, but he was incredibly condescending. As the daughter and granddaughter of a mechanic, with years of experience working on my own cars before moving to Boston, he was incredibly flippant, unprofessional and sexist. Not only did he refuse to look at my car, he was incredibly leery and unprofessional. This is a hobby garage and nothing more. This is a terrible garage. I would never recommend it to anyone.

if i had a kid in boston, i would INSIST that harry was the only mechanic working on their car…read more why? because he treats it like every car that comes in his daughter's car and goes above and beyond to make sure it's safe. it doesn't matter what you come in for - he's going to check your tires, top off your fluids, put the car on the lift and inspect the brake lines, hook up the compressor and blow all the leaves out from under your hood, etc. now i'm fairly capable when it comes to car stuff so i don't go to harry because i need babying. i go to him primarily because he does quality work at a fair price, but also because i'm interested in car maintenance and harry not only tolerates, but encourages my "what's that do? why'd you do it like that? what happens if we did this? why can't we do it that way instead? what was that thingy called again? can i try?". now i personally like going and hanging out, but if you want a quick in-and-out then harry's not your guy and you should probably hit up some corporate chain that won't bother you with things like asking about your family, and remembering your name. wouldn't wanna waste time that you could otherwise spend staring at a backlit screen.
