Happened upon the restaurant after searching for restaurants in between our drive from Gurnee to home. Seated right away at 5:30. Had a comfortable high-top in the back. Our server, Annabelle, was so delightful! It appeared that the other servers knew their clientele. Everyone was so pleasant and busy. I had the salmon salad and husband had the halibut. Very delicious and generous portions. Band was playing in the front area which made it nearly impossible to have a conversation. Maybe reserve the music for the later crowd. All of the beef is sous vide so you know it's going to be cooked to absolute perfection every time. it's always a treat to have beef topped with blue cheese, which I strongly recommend. We went on a Saturday after a local high school baseball game. The place was relatively empty and I had a feeling the service would be bad because they were not busy. We were right on the money. The server was friendly but took forever bringing drinks, coming back to get our order and then they had trouble with the pizza dough supposedly which made our order take an extra 15 minutes. Think we waited for half an hour for the food. Onto the food itself. And large cobb salad had some pretty tasteless chicken, and was only filled with iceberg lettuce. They could've thrown in a few other greens to add some interest. It wasn't a typical cobb with a lineup the different elements in rows, it was just kind of piled on top of the lettuce. The balsamic dressing they brought out was 85% oil and we had to get another dish of it in order to get some actual vinegar. One of us ordered the two crabcakes for $14 and although the crabcakes tasted good, they placed them hot on top of a small, actual pretty tiny pile of arugula which wilted instantly - not smart. The amount of food on the plate was an embarrassment for that price. They easily could have served it with the arugula salad on the side and given about four times as much and it would've looked and felt worthwhile. The pizza is however very good although again for $14 they seemed a tad small. The dough was a typical Neapolitan crust light and puffy so that the edge crust was pretty much empty as it should be. Might return for pizza but then again there are other options with larger offerings for similar prices. read more

What a great restaurant. Not just great food but the bourbon selection and top shelf alcohol is amazing. Jessika there top Bartender makes the most incredible drinks. She is such a nice person every time we have dinner and drinks we always feel very welcome. When I come to the bar as I'm walking in to sit down there's a drink waiting for me. It is so nice to have such amazing staff like Jessika and her coworkers . They really know what their customers want. The service here really sucks. We could tell our waitress, Kala, is not suited to being a server as she was the laziest waitress I've ever encountered in all my years eating at restaurants. Kala was not shy about showing her contempt and complete lack of respect for herself, her employer, her profession and my family. No water was brought to our table, but we could see that the other waitresses brought water to all their tables as soon as the patrons were sat down. We had to ask Kala to take our food order because Kala was too busy socializing with her co-workers to realize that someone else brought out our appetizers and cleared the table. Our main courses were also brought out by someone else btw, and our food must have been sitting under the food warmer for a while because the pasta in my shrimp scampi was really crispy and my husband's salmon was HOT AF! We ordered a kids Mac and cheese for our son, and it had jalapeños in it so he couldn't eat it. No one came up to check if we needed more drinks or how the food was. 10 minutes after our mediocre meal, we had to flag a hostess down so she could ask Kala to bring our check. If the food is excellent, it is sometimes enough to redeem a restaurant. In this instance it was just ok. The food wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. I chose to bring my family to 129 Center Cut tonight because the website gave the appearance of a local, high-end steak house. They charge the same prices as places like Wildfire or Coopershawk, but they do not deliver on the experience, which was total garbage. They have unprofessional children working there; from the two hostesses standing around looking upset/awkward with their arms folded to our lazy server who clearly didn't understand the assignment. It is the exact opposite of what the pictures convey. My husband said not to expect too much from a restaurant in Grayslake, but I have to say I am extremely disappointed. Recently went back here and they've got a new menu and have repeatedly raised prices so unfortunately I'm knocking a star off my original review. This is a nice spot to grab drinks especially on a nice day with the windows open, but it's hard to stomach the high prices and average quality food. They changed their pizza lineup, dropping my two favorites and no longer carrying the ingredients for them. They've also dropped some appetizers and the ones that remain aren't very, well, appetizing. The calamari was very well fried, but the breading had almost no flavor. A hint of garlic, but mostly it just tasted like flour even after drenching it in lemon juice. We got the white pizza, the Italian pizza and the Texas burger. The pizza dough was again very bland and just tasted like raw flour. The Italian pizza was also mostly just a handful of arugula on a cheese pizza. The burger was fine but the fries were lukewarm and at $17 is overpriced despite being one of the cheaper items on the menu. Stray outside the sandwiches, salads and pizzas and you're looking at $30-$50 per entree. read more

We came on a Saturday and it didn't look too crowded and we were not sure about the lame 3 stars this restaurant has on Yelp. Our server Anabelle was so sweet and recommended some great food and drinks. I don't know what they put in the mashed potatoes but they are delicious, the best I've had in a while. This time I had the Newyork strip it was really good and rate it a 4.5 . What I was disappointed was the service our server was not engaging or friendly. I've been here twice and that was enough. Both times I got a steak that was over cooked from medium rare this was medium well but I will say it was still tender from the wet age. I also didn't like that they put the steak straight on top of the potato and vegetables I got and said it was their serving style. Service was lackluster only saw the server when my order was taken and food was delivered. Despite this I gave it another shot a few months later with some friends and it was the same. As far as ambiance it was quiet which I enjoyed but I don't know if that was because the day we went, but there wasn't a lot of people there, which made the service experience even more disappointing. My friends and I have been enjoying the wonderful ambience, food and cocktails since they opened. Tonight I was shocked and disappointed by the service at the bar. I ordered a bottle of wine for me and a friend. The bartender gave us two wine glasses and an unopened bottle of wine and walked away. (yes, it was a screw top) I got the attention of the bartender and asked her if I was supposed to open and pour my own wine. Her response was "yes,you ordered a bottle , you should pour your own wine". I called to the Bar Manager Jess and questioned the bartenders response. She told the bartender she could pour the first glass. Jess came over and poured our wine. She informed m that the bartenders response was not intentional. This story is sad but true. From the $12 spicy Paloma I had that was literally watered down grapefruit juice with no alcohol, to the goat cheese appetizer that was essentially a three dollar piece of goat cheese but only half of it with four pieces of very skinny, tiny burnt toast with what tasted like a jar of Prego for like $13, onto the entrée which never fails to disappoint either. What an amazing place, the atmosphere was nice and the waitstaff was on point! The food was so delicious, warm bread and whipped butter came out with our water and then we had the baked goat cheese in tomato sauce with crostini's for an appetizer, it was so good! For dinner I had the 9 oz filet cook a perfect medium rare (melts in your mouth) with mashed potato's and steamed broccoli. My husband had the 12 oz New York Strip and loved every bite. We also shared a steamed lobster tail with butter. Can't forget dessert...Crème brûlée that was so yummy! All I can say is wow, and the prices were great; back home in Baton Rouge that would have been almost a $300 meal! Also add 3 beer and a glass of wine to that. I'd like to give a 5 star review, but based on 3 visits it's a 4. The atmosphere is great. Service impeccable and cocktails amazing. The food however is inconsistent in quality. Issues in particular have been the calamari, fried not grilled and soggy on arrival at the table. Also, the steak which they serve as a side option with salads was chewy and grainy all 3 times I ordered it. ( I just wanted to make sure) Pluses where the crab cakes, ribeye with mash, salmon and the wedge salad. We'll be back to try the wood fired pizza eventually. read more
