    Whiskey and cocktail menu

1631 is an eclectic bar and restaurant. They open for coffee and breakfast sandwiches Monday thru Saturday. They have a more expansive breakfast menu on Sunday that they are planning to expand to Saturday. Overall, the food is very good across the various menus from morning to evening. My table had a variety of food. The burger, burger patty and brisket was very good. Their sauerkraut was wet and very good. 1631 has an eclectic selection of whiskey as well. They have a variety of normal brands, but also have the oddity of Weller style CYPB, of course, for the right price. I recommend 1631 for the expensive. If you like it, you'll be back.

Quiet little place in a strip mall so it's easy to miss, but the food was good. The burger was recommended by our server and glad I listened. The Mac n cheese bowls are huge however make sure you read the description the Mac bowl had a little kick to it (I think he had a bbq or Sriracha added to it for flavor.

The service here was amazing! Our server was very nice and made a really good drink when I wasn't sure what I wanted! Food was to die for. Chef Aaron was amazing and even talked to us for a few. I don't think I've ever had a burger that tasted this good! Also definitely get the pork belly and pretzel bites. I got the steakhouse burger and like I said was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere gives very high end but not with the high end prices and the music is pretty good and not to loud to where you can't have a conversation. 10/10 would recommend this place to everyone I know!

Back for my second dinner! The burgers are so tasty -- and specialty! You're not forced into the traditional toppings here. I've had the coffeehouse and the Mediterranean! Both at excellent! Juicy, flavorful and overall so tasty! They have other options beyond bourbon or beer!

Great spot my friend and I came across by accident! Great drinks, food and service. We didn't know what to order but the bartender knew exactly what we would like since we didn't drink bourbon before. The drink was light and refreshing without being too harsh as we expected. Great choice! Their food was simple but great. They make their own potato chips that were crisp and seasoned! Plenty of parking too. Not large enough to support large groups but definitely a good size for a few detox get together.

Stoped for a quick bite and to try their bourbons. I wasn't too impressed by the steak bites but the sauce was great. The pork belly bites were delicious and used the steak sauce with that! The burger was also okay. The drinks were good but honestly would've been better if I knew exactly what they were serving. They had a food menu but all the drinks are written on little blackboards above the bar. I didn't feel like getting up and leaving my table to read the whole drinks menu. They should just provide another menu. Decor is interesting - it's supposed to give off a dark cozy vibe with black walls and fire on the tv screens. But it's a pretty open space concept with large windows for light. So it's cozy to your right, sunshine to your left.

Absolutely phenomenal! You walk in and think this is just gonna be a bar with ok food, but that is not the case here! I got the queso dip burger and it was the best burger I've ever had! The meat is seasoned so well, which is so rare at a restaurant. The queso was delicious. Their homemade chips, amazing! Even the kids burger was delicious!! My ONLY critique would be the steak bites. They were good, but I wish the seasoning was more impactful. Service was also great! Highly recommend this place! Also if you like bourbon, they have flights and special cocktails. Very unique.

After the server missing our burger out of our order, the manager was very apologetic and gave my husband a $20 gift card after he had to go back for my Top Shelf burger. Thank you for making it right!

A burger with bourbon is always a winning combination - this hidden little tavern in the "Poquoson Farm Fresh Shopping Center" offers a good variety of both. I tried a Barrel Proof Burger with their home made chips, both were deliciously fresh and flavorful. The service was great... both fast and friendly. I did not try a bourbon although their selection was quite large and other options were also available. The atmosphere was pleasant, dark and moody. It's very small and I imagine it fills up fast at times, the website states they're not taking reservations at this time. I was there for dinner on a Monday night, the bar was full but a couple tables still available. They're closed Tuesday and Wednesday for dining but open 7 days a week in the mornings for coffee. In summary, the burger was extremely good although a little pricey in my opinion... the bourbon selection was extensive and worth a trip in for a try.

I have visited cigar lounges and shops across the U.S., Asia, and Europe. I saw some good ones and some bad ones. I am in the mindset that you must experience bad ones so you can recognize the good ones. On a business trip to Hampton, VA, I visited Tailored Smoke Cigar Lounge. Without a doubt, Tailored Smoke (https://tailoredsmoke.com/) is the WORST "cigar lounge" I have ever visited. I am loathed to call this a cigar lounge. The bad experience starts before you enter. It is trying to be a private lounge so you must pay a fee to make a reservation to get in. Once you are there, you are patted by like a common criminal. I do mean patted down. This off-duty cop seemed to take pleasure in slapping your private areas. Once in the door, you will find that you must pay another fee for a cover charge on top of the online fee for the reservation. However, you can use the online fee against the cover charge or your bar tab. Biggest issue is that they may not be able to find your reservation. Additionally, when the reservation was found they were confused whether it was for the smoking or non-smoking side (really???? Is this a cigar lounge or not?). We had to wait and got shuffled around for 30 minutes until they could find us a place to sit. We were shoved into a corner where people trampled over us as they navigated around high-top tables. My friend made the mistake of lighting up a cigarette. Instead of politely telling us cigarette smoking was not allowed, a woman in brown velvet-like jump suit got right up my face pointing her finger at me yelling to put the cigarette out. She was yelling so loud and so animated that she was spitting in my face. The waitress had no idea what spirits were available. We would be told one thing only to have waitress come back and tell up "ohhh we do not have that." Did I mention that in addition to the entry fees, you are required to purchase two cigars. Now, do not let the website fool you. The cupboards were bare. There were approximately five (5) labels to pick from. I only recognized a couple. I am talking about real throat burners. Overall, this is NOT a cigar lounge. I am not sure what to call it. After about an hour of the rude, unprofessional staff, the worst ambience (those pictures on the website must be from some other Tailored Smoke location), and poor service I had enough. I was ready to go after getting slapped in the junk on the pat down outside, however, my friend had arranged this, so I decided to give it a chance. Huge mistake. That is an hour in my life I will not get back. Cigar smokers....DO NOT GO TO Tailored Smoke Cigar Lounge, 605 Pilot House Drive, Newport News, VA 23606. It is disappointing that this place is allowed to call itself a cigar lounge.

It's the kind of establishment that understands both execution and consistency--two qualities that are increasingly rare and always appreciated. The shrimp and grits remains a signature highlight. The Creole sauce offers a restrained heat, balanced by a layered depth of flavor that speaks to careful preparation rather than excess. The shrimp are properly cooked, retaining a delicate snap, while the stone-ground grits provide a well-seasoned, creamy foundation. Each component is thoughtfully prepared, and together they form a cohesive dish that feels both composed and satisfying--an authentic nod to Cajun tradition without unnecessary embellishment. Gershwin's stands as a reliable fixture in the downtown dining scene. For those seeking a refined take on Southern and New Orleans classics, it is well worth the visit--and a strong example of the quality found within Norfolk's local restaurant community.

If this restaurant was in an area that was even moderately competitive they would have been put out of business. The bar seems adequate but it was almost like they stopped serving food and forgot to tell anyone. I swear I'm not making this up, this actually happened: 1) it took over 2.5 hours for the entrees to come out. One came out so early that by the time the second set came out they were already done. 2) The only appetizer that was ordered that actually came out, arrived after the entree was done. 3) One person's order had to be changed 5x because the waiter kept coming back to say they're out. When his pork chop finally arrived, it was undercooked and not eatable. 4) Nothing was offered in any way as a comp, nor any real apology If you go, be wary. There is no way they were this thoroughly incompetent in every single aspect of the food services industry without practice.

This has been high on my "want to try" for a long time and finally saw an opportunity with an available reservation, went for it and am so happy I did. I dined solo, which I rarely do, but this was the perfect place for it. It was apparent that most people dining were regulars. The owner was chatting with just about everyone and diners were popping over to other tables to say hello, as well. Felt like a very small town. Service was perfect - not overbearing, but perfectly timed for a good flow throughout dinner. Their menu changes often, so some of the items I loved, may not be available - but it does seem like their fried oysters are a mainstay and holy moly, they were delicious. I had one cocktail - I believe it was called Watermelon Sugar. It had vodka, aperol and fresh watermelon. Refreshing and smooth. I tried two apps: the fried oysters and the bao buns. Both were fantastic. Perfectly prepared, so much flavor. I think that next time, I would stick to the appetizer section and try many rather than getting an entree. I got the scallops, which were delicious, but the apps wow-ed me more. Prices aren't low, but you get what you pay for - really high quality dishes with lots of thought and execution embedded. I don't say this lightly - this has been added to my top 10 list in all of Hampton Roads!
