We tried the new food court concept here. I loved it! It was so much fun going to different windows to try so many new items. We got a few items from Cheng's dim sum. I got some sticky rice, a beef rice roll, fried sticks, and tofu skin rolls. From Tabe sushi we got a tempura chicken roll. From Yuan Yang, we got chicken skewers, a chicken sandwich, and two drinks, a mango pomelo sage and watermelon coconut water drink. It was all pretty good, some a bit more expensive than others, but we will definitely be back to try more. We cannot wait to try Mala Town and the yet to open Thai food stall. I was also happy to see the main store food court area is still available. We ordered a to-go plate for my other child. She wanted crawfish. It was such an amazing deal, we got 2.5 pounds of spicy crawfish for $20! You can see the photo below. It was so large, they put it in a metal tray and I needed a box to get it home. Although three of us were eating it, it was quite literally party sized. I love all of the updates they are doing here, including creating a new grab-and-go area where they were placing sushi from the food court, and their updated toy section in the front. It seems like they are making a lot of positive changes here. I do miss the old area near the bakery where you could get Halo Halo. Perhaps they will bring back that dish to the food court?

168 Asian Mart had become the best Chinese supermarket in the state. I like the renovations and expansion. The store is now more spacious and cleaner. They are currently resurfacing the parking lot. 168 Mart would probably do a quicker and better job of fixing our roads than the state. There are now a lot more items to choose from, mostly Chinese but also a lot of Korean and Vietnamese items. I like the Chinese bottled tea drinks and the frozen dumplings and noodles. Fruit and vegetables look fresh. I typically don't buy meat and seafood here but there is a lot of variety more so than at Western supermarkets. I hope they do improve the freshness of the meat and seafood because I didn't think it was that fresh several years ago. 168 Asian Mart has also led to the growth of more Asian businesses in Madison Heights. I'm here for this area becoming the Detroit metro's unofficial Chinatown.

Came to try the new expanded Food Hall. Multiple restaurants all with individual order counters and a large expansive shared eating space inside the grocery store. We tried several items from multiple places. All good! From Yuany Ang: milk tea, chicken skewers and potato tornado. Chicken was super tasty but the mayo and ketsup served on side was tricky to utilize. From Chengs: garlic and chive pancakes were delicious but wish they had been served with sauce or given soy sauce. From Mala Town: my friend loved her shrimp bowl and was super impressed with quantity and price. From Tabe Sushi; got a California roll, cucumber roll and Tabe Roll (Chilean Sea Bass) to go. The Tabe was excellent. Would definitely go back!

Love 168, but FYI it's in the middle of a HUGE renovation to become the 168 Super Center with a Food Court/Hall and everything! It's also getting QUITE the glow up, glam update. What used to be the entrance is now the exit only, so the new entrance means it's very much expanded. However, in its interim state, it doesn't look like everything is out yet and signage isn't added so it's a bit of a treasure hunt. They still have all the pieces though - the bakery, the hot food/BBQ spot (in the back right now), as well as the meat department. They, however, are NOT adding more registers (as of yet it seems) so there's still a bit of a wait but it moves quickly. Looking forward to this renovation being complete, although no est. date was given!

Wow! Business must be good, very good. 168 Mkt is more than doubling in size. Aisles are a bit more spacious. A lot more cold cases too.

3 entree bento box for $9.99. Highly recommend! They have a variety of different entrees to choose from but I always go for the chili fish, shrimp with mushroom and zucchini, and chicken with mushroom in oyster sauce. All delicious and flavorful. They also have a menu for made to order.

It's been a while since I've been here. They've really done a great job on the remodeling that they are in process of doing. You can tell everything is very bright and well lit. It looks very clean in here even though there's still parts that are under construction. There's so many varieties of food and vegetables. There's lots to look at and see. I definitely come back when they finish remodel to check out their new food court. It'll be very interesting to see what they have coming up.

I have visited 168 Asian Market a few times looking for specific items such as egg roll wrappers, various juices, fruit, and snacks. Anything you want, this Asian market has it from spices to specialty items, produce, drinks, and any other grocery needs. I was unaware that there is a hot food court available in the back of the market. Every Chinese dish you crave is available. They will also cook seafood you've purchased in the market for you. On this visit I ordered a scrumptious bowl of bok choy and mushrooms. I also ordered dumplings. All of it was amazing and fresh. I will definitely continue to order from the amazing Chinese food menu as I visit for my grocery needs.

The food is expensive at this stall. The food was mediocre. The spaghetti was ok different taste from the usual Italian spaghetti. The tokiyoki was good I think it is a must, but for $8 too little quantity I think. The coconut milk drink was good though I would get that again. Gotta try this place when you are here at 168 market. There are many other food stalls so more reviews to come.

Pretty good Asian supermarket but pales in comparison to the ones in Cali or Texas (I guess size wise and food court offerings wise). Still wide selection of Asian goods and wares, one cafe with interesting Asian cuisine selections and random goods stores located in the front (although most were closed on a Sunday). Recommended and check it out bruh!

I have been going to Chengs since I was a kid . So excited to see there have a second location . The food is good and the staff is always the best !!! A great addition to 168 . Also check out the original 168 food mart at the back- great quick service and food.

Looks like they made some small improvements in the store. Majority still the same. You can order seafood online now. Some items are expired so still have to watch out for those. The supermarket is full of items, shelves are stock all the time. Price is cheaper than Walmart overall.

Ask the Community - 168 Asian Mart

I LOVE item #2 from the restaurant, I want to buy the ingredients to make this, however the kitchen staff was not able to communicate which adult I could find the sauce. Any chance you can share what's in the noodles?

I am sorry I don't know. I will ask around to see if I can find out,

Is there a picture of the recent menu in the food court area? It's a specific area it's the place you sit down?

each stall is individual so no group menu was posted. Each Stall has Its Own Menu.

Has anyone had their live crab? I would like to buy some but am cornered about the tanks. What is the process to buy them and do they clean and cook it on site? Does the crab taste clean?

the tanks seem a bit murky when you look at them, and we know thats what bottom feeders like - ie crab. I've watched others get the crabs packed live in a bag and take them to pay at the front. someone ordered some fish and a few crabs which was…

Has anyone ordered electric appliances from here? Do they ship out of state?

As far as I know they are a grocery store. I have not seen appliances sold there.

    Did they close?

I shopped at 168 Market in December and they were open and fully stocked.

Do they have boba pearls for sale?

Yes, I've purchased the dry ones there. They also sell boba milk tea where the bakery!

Hello community Is there a price list…

Yes on the duck and I've seen some aloe Vera products.

I bought a wok there today and am wondering if it's carbon steel or teflon?

I would love to help, but honestly, I think I would have asked someone before buying it. Asian like to cook at high heat so I doubt a teflon would be your answer.

Does their Bakery carry those cream buns that you can get at a dim sum place?

Hi Mel B. Though one to answer. They have their staples, but they also mix it up periodically. I've seen cream buns there (with finely shredded coconut), but I don't know what you're referring to. I've never had a cream bun at dim sum, where do you…

    Do they carry Soursop?

    they carry soursop juice

Does anyone know if 168 will be open during the holidays (25-31)?

I believe they should always be open :)

Do they carry cooked suckling pig?

Yes they do. I think they sale $168

Two questions. (1) What is the origin of the frozen fish, and particularly the squid? (2) Does the store carry any gluten free Asian sauces other than soy sauce? Particularly…

Not sure of origin of their meats, it may say on the packaging if it's not from the store...probably China though, if I had to guess? No idea on the sauces, you're probably…

If I'm being completely honest, during my recent week long stay in Troy, MI for work, I stopped by…read morethe New Saigon Market 4 of the 7 days. And the primary reason was their ah-mazing banh mi sandwiches. IMHO, the best in the entire city!!! The majority of the square footage at New Saigon Market is dedicated to the grocery portion of the business. There are aisles of Asian goods such as sauces, instant noodles, a refrigerated section of produce, and a freezer case of all types of dumplings, meats, etc. There was also a fun display of figurines near the window, including a Pikachu, which I purchased for my niece. Using both the Yelp app and recommendations from locals, they told me this place serves up legit and surprisingly, bargain priced Viet sammiches. When you walk in, the kitchen portion is near the registers. After perusing the menu, I ordered a number one combo and a chicken, since the roasted pork was sold out (boo!). And I was SHOCKED that in 2024, you can still find a banh mi for $5. In the DC area, you can't find one priced for less than $8.00!!! Tip: you can order your banh mi's either toasted or untoasted. Get the toasted. After approximately 5 minutes a friendly worker came out and presented the number one banh mi, in a foil wrapper. My chicken was not toasted so it was in a plastic bag. I couldn't wait, so I unwrapped the number one combo and literally DEVOURED it in the parking lot. The bread (which they make on premises) was toasty outside, yet had a flaky and soft interior. And while these aren't the biggest sandwiches, there was plenty of meat filling and pickled veggies, with just the right amount of pate smeared. Again, did I mention (as of this review) that it was only $5? They have a special menu on the weekends, so I also stopped by get some Bánh Bò Nướng (Vietnamese honeycomb green cake), Goi Cuong (summer rolls) and the Xôi Mặn (sticky rice with Viet ham and sausage). Everything was delicious and I walked out for about $20; which again, this would have been at least $10-$15 more in the DC area. If I lived here, I'd be at New Saigon Market several times a week. It's a true hidden local gem. Five well deserved stars!
