I have been going to 168 Khô Bò (Vietnamese beef jerky) for several years now. They are much better than Vua Khô Bò. This shop is family-owned and they are very friendly. They are not super pushy like some of the other beef jerky shops. They are located in the shopping center next to the Asian Garden Mall or Phuoc Loc Tho. This is a great place for dried snacks and preserved fruit, and serve as nice gifts if you are traveling out of town or state. Located in the heart of Little Saigon next to Asian Garden Mall, it's conveniently located. Parking in the lot is limited, but there's plenty of street parking nearby. The shop was clean, well-organized, and stocked with a huge variety of jerky and other treats. As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted and offered generous samples. They were NOT pushy at all like at other places (ehem Vua Kho Bo), and they even weight the bags again at the counter to make sure you get exactly what you ask. We've been to several dried preserves stores looking for the perfect ones because my mom loves them. She can't find such places in San Francisco. She's been to stores in Los Angeles, San Gabriel Valley, Arcadia mall, but in particular, Westminster where we came across 168 Kho Bo. We marveled at how the dried ginger, spicy and not spicy, were fresher and not old-looking like the ones in the store we had just visited. 168 was newer, had more light, more customers (a good sign) and the prices were reasonable. My mom asked me to buy some jerky when I visited the mainland last year. During that visit, my experience with the service staff was positive. The quality of their food was also pretty good. The store was clean. None of the food I brought back to Hawaii got moldy or old, compared to this other popular jerky chain I shopped at from the same area. Anyway, this time, my mom asked me to check if there's an option to order online for shipping to Hawaii. I placed my order online late Friday night. They called me on Saturday morning to notify me that an item was out of stock and offered a replacement. They then mailed my purchase on the same day. The lady on the phone, whom I spoke to, sounded friendly and courteous. Today is Monday, and I received my purchase. I'm very impressed with the speed of service and professionalism of this business. This jerky place is very different than other chains like vua kho bo. I always feel welcome every time I come in here and someone is always to help. Place is organized and clean as well. I usually come here for xi muoi, coc ngam, and or dried green mangos. They will let you sample whatever you want, just have to ask. This is also the only place that will ask if you're ok with going over the quantity that you asked for when they ring you up. Today was my 5th time back at this store. Fantastic beef jerky and dried fish. A nice employee offered to let me try everything but I was only interested in a few flavors of beef jerky. Everyone should come here instead of Vua Kho Bo. No aggressive upsell and no "accidental" overweighing. I asked for a lb of this beef jerky and another half lb of another jerky and got exactly that. The employee actually under estimated the dried fish. I asked for half a lb, she scooped the fish into a bag and it came out to be 0.39 I think. The bag looked filled but the fish was light. When you come to this store, you'd better buy a lot, because if you don't, the staff treat you like trash and talk down to you. We will never come back. The employees are extremely rude and have no respect for customers. Paying money just to feel insulted is unacceptable. Management seriously needs to reconsider how they train and supervise their staff otherwise, it might be better to shut the place down. We normally go to Vua Kho Bo but decided to try 168 and I have to say it was a pleasant experience. Price, quality, selection is comparable but the service was different because 168 wasn't pushy. They didn't shadow and micro manage your every move and then try to up sell every ounce and pound. It could be due to who we had at the time but that was more than enough to convince us to come back. Either way, it just depends on the convenience and where you're at because both places offer the same thing. We always get the crispy jerky and this product is always pre packaged by one pound bags. At 168, they also offer in half pound which I like. It's also so easy to spend more than you like here. Average pound is about $18 and the jerky that we got were $36 a pound. We walked out with 4 different types for a total of $80+. What also sets 168 apart from the others is that they ship out of state. read more

I appreciate that they're bilingual. I got 4 types of jerky. My favorite is the one with the sesame seeds both spicy and non-spicy. The place is clean, open, and friendly. The staff were very professional and helpful. They have dried meats, fruits, candies, and vegetarian options. When coming in someone greets you at the door, asking if you are looking for anything in specific. They greeted me in Vietnamese but switched over to English once they realized it was easier for me to understand. They will allow you to sample and they will be the only ones handling the scooping. My husband and I went here for the first time today. They ladies were so nice and helpful and let us try the dried beef and fruits before we buy. We ended up buying two types of dried beef, dried mango and dried son tra (hmong apple). The son tra dried fruit had a sweet and sour taste, everyone must try this! They look like tiny wild apples. They have all sorts of jerkies(fish, squid, mini crabs, chicken, vegan) and dried fruits and vegetables. We're definitely coming back to try more goodies! We love this place! read more

Great service and they are super friendly! Good quality stuff and they let you try things before you decide to order it so you know what you're getting! I'm not Vietnamese but they really helped me understand what I was trying and showed me all of the great things to buy. They even have candy that is better than what you would buy in standard stores! My spice tolerance is pretty low so some of the stuff was too spicy for me, but they have tea that you can drink to help ease the spice. They will also tell you if they think about the food even when it not good, they also don't get offense or change their attitude if you say that the food doesn't fit your taste. Store visit on 2/7/2022: No sample was given for tasting, so I bought a 0.5lb bag of 168 Khô Bò Crunchy Beef Jerky. The bag looks flashy, but its content leaves much to be desired. Having enjoyed quality beef jerky sold at Hàng Giấy in Ha Noi and An Dong, Ben Thanh markets in Saigon, I had high expectations. And the beef jerky from 168 Khô Bò truly disappoints; besides tasting somewhat hot and sweet, this overdried product is really bland, perhaps because of the incorrect flavoring. I went there and spent almost $150 before Tet to buy snacks for my aunts and mom. The wrapped o mai candies were spoiled and my mom took it back to let them know. The pickled mango in the jar that I brought for myself was not fleshed and it had a weird after taste. My mom has been a loyal customer at that place for years. They accused my mom of returning the candies because she simply got bored with the taste after enduring herself. They told my 83-year old mother not to come back! Is this how you treat you loyal customers and the elderly? They not only lost one customer but my siblings and relative's as well. They refunded my mom $5 for the rotten candies but they lost more than $5 that day!
