Even though it was busy, you can tell the team is doing their best to stay calm and provide good service. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. It also felt very family-friendly. They even offered free ice cream for the kids, which was a really nice touch. The iced tea with fresh mint leaves was also refreshing and made the experience even better. The whole place has a warm, family atmosphere. The Cơm Tấm Sườn Bì Chả was great, but the Bò Né Lạc Việt was even better. The only small suggestion would be for the pate to be a little softer. The banh cuon was thin, fine (translucent) and soft. I liked the fried shallots they gave and the spicy paste. The pork patty was yummy too. The bread for the banh mi was very fluffy and light. When toasted, it crumbled like dust. The bad: The drinks are definitely on the sweet side so you need that ice to melt a lot before you drink it. When they first opened, they were great, but ever since they stopped using the fancy to-go packaging, things have slowly gone downhill overall. I came on a Saturday around 12:30pm with surprisingly no wait for dine-in. We were looking for a new spot to try bo ne or the sizzling plate for brunch and stumbled across this place. I didn't come in with much expectation since it wasn't as highly rated as other trending places for bo ne or banh mi chao, but I'm glad I did! We ordered one bo ne and one crispy pork belly banh mi. The sizzle plate came out sizzling and the baguette on the side was warm, toasted, and super fluffy inside. Even after cooling, the bread was crisp outside and soft inside, not stale or hard at all. The sizzle plate itself seemed to be a bigger portion that I was used to, no complaints. I enjoyed the tender meat and multiple egg yolks to mix with the sauce and dip my bread in. Sauce is a little on the sweeter side. I must say, this dish has impressed me more than other places that charge +$8 for a similar, maybe less impressive dish. This spot is on my list of go to places in Orange county. It's a small area so there's always going to be a little bit of a wait, but it's always worth it. They only have a few things on the menu but they do it very well. Me and my girl went here at the end of our visit and I wish I found it earlier because I would come here at least once a day. No matter what time of day or which day I come , it is always packed. When we ordered the Bo Ne, meat version only, they keep bringing out the version with shrimp included. My husband and I waited almost 30 minutes from when we ordered to receive our food. His coffee came out super quick, but I had to remind the waitress to bring out tea and utensils for us. This has been one of my favorite new finds! We've been here twice but both times were memorable. Very simple menu but everything is good. Both the Com Ne and the Bo Ne are tasty but I find I like the Com Ne more. The rice they serve is delicious and with the sauce it's more satisfying than the bread. Was craving bo ne so I went to this place that I found on Yelp. Parking lot was a bit small but I was able to find parking easy probably since I came here close to 2pm on a Saturday. There was limited seating but since I was a party of one, I was seated pretty quick. There wasn't much on the menu, but that's ok because I only came there for one thing. The beef sizzling plate was pretty good and I would definitely be back, but I think the only thing missing was pate? Other than that, the customer service was great, they provide free ice green tea, and the restaurant was clean. Checked out Lac Viet Concept after spotting it on the way to lunch. We were early, so we decided to stop by and see what they had. It seems like they're in a soft opening phase (or at least I hope so) because things felt a bit disorganized--there wasn't even a menu to look at. We ended up just grabbing what we saw in front: sweet sticky rice and spring rolls. The sticky rice was solid--coconut shreds, mung bean, sesame seeds, and a creamy coconut sauce all came together nicely. For the spring rolls, we got one of each type, and the bi (pork skin) spring roll was definitely my favorite. The others were decent, and I liked the peanut dipping sauce. But you definitely get your food and drinks pretty fast! But I was only like third in line and it wasn't popping like other days that I have heard from other people. My Vietnamese coffee (cafe sua da) you can tell by the color that it was going to be some strong coffee! The cup had a bunch of ice but it was the nice small crunchy ice. Makes it easier to melt for you to casually sip on your coffee. It was strong coffee flavor, not acidic but dark and roasty and smooth. And then you get hints of creamy sweetness from the condensed milk. Depending on my mood is when I want more condensed milk or not. But that day I needed the fuel for the drive back to San Diego. The color was a bit on the darker side (less milk) than the lighter side (too much milk). Will I come here again? Maybe? Was the drink that memorable for me? It was all right. They should label each shelf, so you don't have to open each shelf seeking a specific utensil. The cabinet isn't well grounded, so you could accidentally slide or knock it over. - The ice water is chock-full of ice. The liquid to ice ratio should be higher. - They placed the sizzling steak skillet on the table but away from me and then walked away. So, I had to kind of shimmy the skillet towards me so I can eat comfortably. The handle was still hot, but I didn't burn myself too badly. - When prompted for a receipt, entering my phone number for a text receipt didn't work. Made me think they had to make the to go packaging so fancy to make up for the lack of quality good tasting food. Definitely save your money and spend it somewhere else! This review is not for the food but their hours. Went on multiple days for the past 2 weeks at 11-12 and everytime, the place is closed without notice.... Website says "temp closed" read more
