The French bread is fresh and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It is probably the best banh mi I've ever had that is why we keep coming back. Service is good. They added other menu items such as soups, vermicelli salad, crispy pork rolls. They removed the long counter ( bar height) and replaced it with a couple of table seating. Everything here is cheap and affordable. But service is a hit or miss depending on which lady takes your order that day, especially if you're a young woman. Well my luck, always end up being served by the same rude lady because I go super early. She never acts nice or friendly toward me, maybe because I look like a "kid". She's only smiling at other customers including those "men." Like today, she gave me attitude because she was serving me but made coffee for the guy behind. Thanh Tam Bakery, despite the name, also offer a variety of prepared grab-and-go foods, which is super convenient if you're in a hurry. Their customer service sucks. The lady working in the morning definitely seemed like she didn't want to be there. The food is decent for the price, so I have nothing bad to say about the food. But the customer service was a completely different story. I called to place an order, but no one picked up. That was fine, so I decided to just go there and order in person. When I arrived, there was only one other customer inside. She took his order and then walked away. She didn't say "good morning," "I'll be right with you," or even "give me a second." She just walked away. I didn't say anything because I was fine waiting. Then she started talking to the other customer, then someone in the back, then the lady making the bread. About 8 minutes went by. During that entire time, she could have easily taken my order so the bread could start being made. Finally, she started walking toward me, and guess what? The phone rang. She immediately answered it and started taking the phone order. At that point, I was done. I decided to just walk out. I understand that people get busy, and I'm usually pretty patient, but at least acknowledge the customer standing right in front of you. A simple "I'll be right with you" would have been enough. Instead, I stood there watching her talk to everyone else and then prioritize a phone order when I had already been waiting. Third time this month coming back for the cheesecake! This time, I noticed they had a new peach panna cotta and got some to try. The cheesecake isn't too sweet and has a very rich, decadent flavor. Definitely a good dessert or treat to beat the heat! As for the panna cotta, the top flavor has a very strong and tasty peach flavor. Dear Thanh Tam Bakery, The sandwich is too wet, asked for no sauce but the meat is too wet overall. Shaken beef should have been lifted to dry before taken off before put in sandwich. Pork sandwich was better but would have loved meats a little bit more tender meats. The matcha latte is creamy and honey is yummyz. I saw her pack the leftover curry they had on the hot tray for the employee who was working in the back which was nice they weren't greedy. They had a buy 3 get 1 free special on their pate chaud and their sandwiches that aren't on special. By the time I got there the pate chauds were sold out. I ordered 2 dac biet specials, 1 grilled pork, and 1 char siu pork. My husband tried the grilled pork the next day and said it was a bit dry and his bread was falling apart but gave benefit of doubt because he didn't eat it fresh. I ate the dac biet special the same day ordered but a few hours later and was surprised it had a thin fried egg inside it. I arrived about 10 minutes before their store hours at 5:20 AM on a Wednesday morning, but they were already open for business and had a line already. People are serious about getting their morning fix at this place and now I know why. I got their buy 3 get 1 free banh mi (xa xiu, nem nuong, thit nuong, xiu mai), chicken pate puff, and a mung bean pastry. The puff was nice and cripsy on top and fluffy on the inside. I usually order pork pate, but they only had chicken available. The meat had a soft texture, and less flavorful than what I'm used to with pork. The mung bean pastry was still soft and very sticky. I'm not sure if this means it is more or less fresh than the ones at the supermarket, but it tasted less like hard plastic. The mung bean in between was still creamy and had the grainy texture. Their thit nuong and bbq pork / xa xiu banh mi were my favorite. The thit nuong had amazing flavor and I was surprised at the fresh xa xiu in my banh mi. I've been to so many places that gave me hard, dry, and old tasting bbq pork. Seeing the fresh color on the xa xiu made me feel so good about this place already. The nem nuong is a little different from what I'm used to, looked like sliced marinated tofu. The flavor was on the sweeter side and less meaty. The xiu mai reminded me of creamy stuffing and typical pate spread on the bread. Their carrots and radish were light in flavor. Overall, the prices were super affordable, banh mi prices starting at $4.50. I know people mentioned a wait (mine was about 20 minutes), but it is understandable considering they had customers waiting before they opened and they were pumping out fresh food for the steam table and making fresh banh mi.
