The food was outstanding. We had the 1720 fries, cheese fries, Philly cheese steak, fried pickles, wings and the daisy burger at the table. The wait staff was friendly and the service was fast. We requested some changes to the menu items and all were completed without any problems! We also had a few of the beers, which all were delicious and the variety was vast. We were staying at a nearby hotel and were craving burgers. This place popped up on Yelp! We ordered take out. I got the Daisy, a burger with fried onions, piemento cheese and bacon. Hubby got the Rocky burger with ham, bacon blue cheese. Both came with fries and a house dipping sauce. Burgers we're good. Fried were soggy because they were take away. I love their different arrangement of burgers. All of them are unique and oh so delicious. Try changing it up by substituting a beef patty with chicken. Order the tater bombs. They are a must try. The 3 stars is because of the wait staff. They are typically slow, they aren't concerned with being very friendly, and they don't remember any extras you ask for. The only plus we're the different varieties of wine, which I rarely find at places like this. My BIGGEST complaint was the bartender. We ordered pickup while staying at a local hotel on our way through town, and we were very pleased. Di had the regular burger and L had the Terminator. Mom had the pulled pork sandwich, dad had the Philly, hubby and I split the optimus prime burger (good call that thing was huge!) We all left full and with a huge to go box. One star is only for the food. The waitress would have received 2 and the decor 5. If u like your burger well done u will love it. I do not. I like mine rare. Tolerable at medium rare. We tried the fried pickles first. As most yelper's suggested. Good. Then three different burgers two asked for rare and one med rare. They ALL came WELL done. I can't eat it this way. I asked the waitress if she could just bring a new burger rare (no bread or fried onions or pineapple). She was kind enough to offer and insist on a whole new one. Ten mins later another WELL done burger. I showed it to the waitress. She offered to do it again. I lost my appetite. She said she will try to have it removed from the. I stopped into 1720 Burger Bar for dinner last night. I was impressed with the beer selection and the menu options, however the service left a little to be desired. More on that later... After much deliberation, I went with the Dolly. This delightful number consists of a 7oz beef patty cooked to perfection, topped with pimento cheese & grilled onions, on a pretzel bun. I also decided to indulge with a chocolate & peanut butter shake which was surprisingly good for a bar type place. Although everyone I encountered on my visit was pleasant, they seemed disorganized. It took a while for my food to be prepared and the servers didn't seem to know where they were delivering orders. This was most noticeable when I was brought a salad I didn't order. All and all this place is worth the visit. Even with the mildly sub par service the menu is definitely worth it! read more

Great burgers. Fries were ok, more on the hot and soft side, but seasoned well. Ordered a cup of coffee, which came in a large styrofoam cup, just like the kids cup of milk. One of the menus we were handed was dirty and sticky. When we informed our server, the just took it away and didn't offer a new one. Tables were clean and so were the bathrooms. Service was ok. They could have smiled more or at least appear somewhat happy. Large televisions around - which was nice to be able to watch the games. Place wasn't loud. Nice long booths, plenty of room for a party of 6 to sit comfortably. Burgers were delicious. So many choices and you can build your own burger. The bacon jam was the best. The kids burger came as two small sliders with a side for $5. I'm glad we stopped here on our way back to Virginia. read more

I had high hopes for this restaurant, but sadly none of my expectations were met. Sure, it's a small restaurant in a small town, you can't expect the best, but my experience was not even decent. We arrived and were seated right away (the only plus) and we had to wait 15 minutes before we were even seen. The waitress seemed dazed as we had to repeat our order several times. I ordered a milkshake, tater tots to start, and a basic cheeseburger cooked medium. At first, she brought out a sweet tea that we didn't order instead of the milkshake, and she said we could have it and that she would bring the shakes. The milkshake was supposed to be my drink, but despite reminding her about it three times, it came 35 minutes later AFTER my meal. Service was extremely slow, and the waitress didn't seem concerned about the customers or being friendly. We also ordered tater tots as an appetizer which, again, came AFTER our burgers. Not to mention by burger was grey all the way through and tasted like charcoal, even though I ordered a medium. Once the milkshake finally arrived at long last, it tasted horrible and had tiny frozen pieces of something I couldn't identify in it. The waitress just seemed all over the place and didn't even apologize for her countless mistakes, instead she seemed annoyed with us. When we got the bill, she charged us for the sweet tea that we didn't even order and that she said was on the house. Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody. Wait staff is apathetic, food is terrible, and don't expect anything you order. They just make it however they want, not how the customer wants. It seemed like the staff was concerned with anything that wasn't helping customers. Seemed like she was just wasting time doing random things instead of fulfilling orders. If I could rate this place negative stars, I certainly would. read more

I came here based on the Yelp reviews and because it is next to the hotel Where I am staying. The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly: The Good: Beer selection. There is a wide range of interesting beers on tap. Including Bud Light seriously, there are about 20 good beers. The burger was also good. The Bad: How long does it take to cook a hamburger when the restaurant is nearly empty? Too long! Maybe they went to Switzerland for the cheese? they comp'd the burger because the order was lost. The Ugly: the power kept going out while I was there. Storms? Perhaps...... Not sure how they have 4 stars. I will visit again to see if this was an anomaly. read more

Food was ok - fries were a tad greasy and the burgers good but nothing above & beyond. Service was a bit slow, I would give them the benefit of the doubt because it looked like they had more help attending to tables by the time we finished our meal. While they are wheelchair accessible, the threshold & flooring in front of the restrooms was difficult to maneuver and the cleanliness of their restrooms was lacking.
