    Margarita pizza
    Korrey H.

This place is a small Italian hidden gem! The servers are on top of it and suggesting daily specials each time. The first time I got pizza and calamari. Both were delicious. Pizza was one of my favorites in awhile. the second time we got a margarita pizza to start. I also ordered a special; scallops and shrimp linguine in spicy red sauce! Was amazing...AMAZING. My friend got a pesto gnocchi with shrimp. She thought it was very tasty. This place brings out hot bread to start and it's BYOB (you can get an ice bucket). Check this place out!!! I will be coming back!!

    Salmon and shrimp with risotto

My husband and I came here on a Friday night and there weren't many guests there. The first floor seatings were pretty much full. As confirmed by the waitress, this restaurant used to be a house but it has been transformed to a nice restaurant with a brick oven in the middle and the kitchen at the back. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. First, we got complimentary bread. I was expecting a warm and crusty Italian bread. To my disappointment, it was dry and cold. Appetizer: fried calamari. Really good, it's not rubbery, nice crunchy batter. It had breaded hot peppers too. Pizza: we chose special of the night: octopus with arugula. It came in personal size, nice thin crush but not burnt. Perfect stretchy dough and it's a light meal. Side order of meatballs: I was told that it came in 3 but actually it came in 2. Our waitress admitted the mistake because the meatball salad comes with 3 meatballs. I think it's a bit expensive $10 for 2. They were definitely home made because one was smaller than the other. They were not dense and fell apart easily. I think they needed more seasoning. My entree was grilled salmon and shrimp with risotto and spinach. The risotto was dense and the protein was bland. Nothing special about it. Tiramisu: served with blueberries. It didn't look like tiramisu at all but It's pretty good. In summary, I highly recommend the pizza as their forte but not the entree.

    Sea bass

Wow! Instantly fell in love with this ultra Italian family restaurant! Nestled in a little neighborhood with busy streets with scarce parking. We walk in and are immediately welcomed by a lady who was like my aunt. Felt like we belonged there. This 2 story restaurant is delightfully noisy with people talking (not on their phones!). What a breath of fresh air! I with there was a place like this down south. The food was fantastic! Chilean sea bass is so good! Not enough words to describe. Any good Italian restaurant can make a great eggplant parm. Well, 1731 nailed the parm! Perfect portion sizes, great service, beautifully noisy with friends and family in deep laughter and conversations. I didn't want to leave. I would fly back to Philly just to take my wife there for dinner.

A few additional cookies tossed in our delivery for free, made it feel like a better value since we had some leftover to enjoy with morning coffee. Anticipated a long wait given the time & day, but a friendly face handed them to us in less time than Domino's. The Deluxe cookies were a treat w/ the peanut butter varieties a fav, but ALL the cookies, including the ones I didn't pick, were delicious. A little annoying the upcharges for deluxe varieties when I thought that was the point of picking an option that includes them, but the additional free cookies helped soften that. A must for any overnight stay in Philly!

After we finished, they handed us a whole box of cookies just for hanging out and giving feedback. That was a solid surprise and super generous. I swing by Insomnia Cookies on random days too because sometimes you just need a warm cookie to reset your mood. They always come out soft, gooey, and fresh from the oven. The store itself is clean and kind of cool to look at. There's a whole wall covered in giant industrial-style on and off switches. I still wish I could have pulled one just to see what would happen. Staff was chill and genuinely helpful. They were patient while we tried to figure out which cookie was which during the ranking, and they kept the energy light and fun. Same when they handed out the free boxes. Whoever runs the HQ location clearly knows how to make the experience feel special.

He is exceptionally friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. His warm and professional service made both of our visits even more enjoyable, and we were delighted to have him as our waiter again. They definitely seem consistent, which I really appreciate. I came with a couple of friends on a Saturday afternoon, and wow... this place was packed. Even with the crowd, the staff stayed friendly and worked quickly, so we didn't have to wait too long for our drinks. One thing I still love is the seating. They have giant plushies sitting in the booths, so if you're by yourself, you're not just awkwardly staring at an empty seat across from you. Maybe I'm the only one who appreciates that, but I think it's a cute touch. The matcha here is the real deal. It's bright green, fragrant, and has that rich, earthy flavor with just enough natural bitterness that you know they're using quality matcha. A lot of places advertise matcha, but this one actually delivers. I ordered one of their matcha desserts with ice cream, and it was creamy, refreshing, and let the matcha flavor shine instead of burying it under sugar. My only complaint is that it was pretty warm inside. It was a hot summer day, and I honestly couldn't tell if the air conditioning was running or if it was just fans. Either way, it wasn't very cool inside. Thankfully I had ice cream, so it didn't bother me too much, but it's something to keep in mind if you're stopping by on a really hot day. Overall, another great visit. Friendly staff, consistently high-quality matcha, and a fun atmosphere. If you're a matcha lover, this is still one of my favorite spots in Chinatown.
