    Margarita pizza
    Korrey H.

This place is a small Italian hidden gem! The servers are on top of it and suggesting daily specials each time. The first time I got pizza and calamari. Both were delicious. Pizza was one of my favorites in awhile. the second time we got a margarita pizza to start. I also ordered a special; scallops and shrimp linguine in spicy red sauce! Was amazing...AMAZING. My friend got a pesto gnocchi with shrimp. She thought it was very tasty. This place brings out hot bread to start and it's BYOB (you can get an ice bucket). Check this place out!!! I will be coming back!!

    Salmon and shrimp with risotto

My husband and I came here on a Friday night and there weren't many guests there. The first floor seatings were pretty much full. As confirmed by the waitress, this restaurant used to be a house but it has been transformed to a nice restaurant with a brick oven in the middle and the kitchen at the back. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. First, we got complimentary bread. I was expecting a warm and crusty Italian bread. To my disappointment, it was dry and cold. Appetizer: fried calamari. Really good, it's not rubbery, nice crunchy batter. It had breaded hot peppers too. Pizza: we chose special of the night: octopus with arugula. It came in personal size, nice thin crush but not burnt. Perfect stretchy dough and it's a light meal. Side order of meatballs: I was told that it came in 3 but actually it came in 2. Our waitress admitted the mistake because the meatball salad comes with 3 meatballs. I think it's a bit expensive $10 for 2. They were definitely home made because one was smaller than the other. They were not dense and fell apart easily. I think they needed more seasoning. My entree was grilled salmon and shrimp with risotto and spinach. The risotto was dense and the protein was bland. Nothing special about it. Tiramisu: served with blueberries. It didn't look like tiramisu at all but It's pretty good. In summary, I highly recommend the pizza as their forte but not the entree.

    Sea bass

Wow! Instantly fell in love with this ultra Italian family restaurant! Nestled in a little neighborhood with busy streets with scarce parking. We walk in and are immediately welcomed by a lady who was like my aunt. Felt like we belonged there. This 2 story restaurant is delightfully noisy with people talking (not on their phones!). What a breath of fresh air! I with there was a place like this down south. The food was fantastic! Chilean sea bass is so good! Not enough words to describe. Any good Italian restaurant can make a great eggplant parm. Well, 1731 nailed the parm! Perfect portion sizes, great service, beautifully noisy with friends and family in deep laughter and conversations. I didn't want to leave. I would fly back to Philly just to take my wife there for dinner.

Our server apologized for a delay in taking our drink orders. She was attentive the rest of our meal. I ordered a Charles deGaulle whiskey cocktail. Lemon, aperol and simple syrup added a refreshing twist. For entrees, my wife ordered the pacherri; a simple pork ragu with tender broccoli rabe, Parmesan, stracciatello and basil. The dish was delicious. I enjoyed my plate of sea-inspired tonnarelli nero. Bay scallops in crab ragu with fennel sofrito. Served with squid ink pasta that imparted a slight brininess. The pasta was cooked pangrattato style-- coated in panko bread crumbs and garlic. The dish had many flavors but they all came back to the theme. Cocktail prices and entree prices were very reasonable. They offer happy hour drinks and specials. Certainly a very good choice if you're in the area.

The short rib over polenta was probably my favorite thing on the table - it fell apart easily and the polenta underneath wasn't as heavy as I expected it to be. We got the salted caramel budino for dessert too, and I was glad it wasn't one of those desserts that's so sweet you can only handle two bites. Would go back honestly. Probably order something different next time just to try more of the menu, but I'm getting that ricotta again no matter what.

While I might choose another place for takeout, when the goal is a night of pizza, wine, great atmosphere, and authentic neighborhood vibes, this is usually where we end up. The space is bright, industrial, airy, and thoughtfully designed but unforced. White walls, warm wood, considered lighting, and a floor plan with real breathing room. The vibe recalls Bucktown, Wicker Park, Williamsburg, and Greenpoint: design-forward but genuinely local. There's a great bar, and booths near the kitchen with glass windows that let you watch the staff. Our three-year-old was mesmerized, and the staff was warm and playful, smiling and waving while they cooked. A small detail, but memorable. The crowd feels local. Good music, friendly people, hip but never pretentious. It's just a fun place to be with great service, too. The food is outstanding. We usually order the chicories caesar with grana padano and breadcrumbs, and the lettuce salad with shaved vegetables and creamy oregano dressing. For pizza, we love the arrabbiata (the Angry pie) and tomato pie with sausage and pickled chilies. My wife enjoys the ice cream. A note on bringing kids: I don't think this is a family restaurant, but if your kids are curious and well-behaved, it's absolutely worth bringing them earlier in the evening. We've gone around 4:30 or 5:00 on weekends and always felt comfortable. One time, our daughter had a full meltdown, and we were mortified, but the staff couldn't have been cooler. They packed everything to go, kindly and without any judgment. That kind of grace is hard to fake, and it genuinely stuck with us. Pricing is fair for the quality of the food and the experience. Places like this can seem overrated or overpriced, but this one doesn't. It offers real value for a memorable night out. The whole restaurant feels like a microcosm of Philadelphia's progressive, creative side. There's real ambition behind it, but it still feels human and grounded, nothing sterile, nothing corporate, nothing over-engineered. Just smart people building a cool neighborhood place that others actually want to spend time in. Oh, and make a reservation. Great spot, Joe. We'll be back soon. Thank you!

The hostess took our coats (a nice touch!) and then a rotation of two servers explained the specials and we ordered. I love that the menu is on the shorter side and they rotate the pizza offerings, so even if you're visiting on a regular basis, you'll always be able to try something new. Additionally, when a menu is only about 2 pages, you know everything on those two pages is top notch, as was the case at Pizzeria Beddia. This evening we got the meatballs (didn't take a photo, was too excited, but they were HUGE and excellent) and the beef, pork and veal balls with a rich red sauce was outstanding. Came in an order of 2 but one was plenty for each of us. The Pizza we got had potatoes on it, and we added sausage per the servers recommendation, and it was cooked perfectly and all of the flavors blended so well together. We are so lucky to have an amazing (and nationally recognized!) pizza spot in the neighborhood and it's always nice when you can walk in without a reservation from time to time.

We got the gnarlic knots which were decently tasting, but since it was to go, we didn't check it before it left. They didn't put on the parm-romano cheese and they didn't include the garlic dipping sauce. It just seemed like the running around not knowing who was going what led to oversight. Fortunately, I got booked on a flight out the next morning and found a hotel in the city. Other than running to a drug store, my only other time leaving my hotel was to grab dinner at Pizzeria Vetri across the street. I enjoyed the food, the service, and the ambiance. I was immediately seated upon arriving to Pizzeria Vetri. I was asked if I wanted to sit at the bar, at a table, or at the pizza counter. I chose the pizza counter so that I could watch staff making pizzas. As I was there on my own, the serving staff continued to stop by and check on me. The menu includes neopolitan pizzas (12" feeding 1-2 people) and metro pizzas (28" feeding 3-4 people). They make pizzas, calzones, antipasti, and salads. I chose a Neapolitan-style pepperoni pizza consisting of pepperoni, tomato sauce, mozzarella, and fresh oregano. It was quite filling and absolutely delicious! They also sell pizza kits so that you can make your own pizza at home. Pizzeria Vetri was created to celebrate the art of authentic pizza making.
