    Vanilla Chocolate Chip Gelato
    Ashley L.

Went here for dinner with my boyfriend and it did not disappoint! They gave us bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to start. The bread was very fresh. We shared the gnocchi romano and the penne alla vodka. Both were delicious. The gnocchi was pillowy soft and the penne alla vodka had a perfect spice to it. My personal favorite was the penne alla vodka - the sauce was incredible and the pancetta added set it over the edge.To end the night. we got vanilla chocolate chip gelato which you can never go wrong with. Great service and would love to return again.

Overall, we had a really nice experience. The food was good, and their gravy is especially delicious; rich, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the meal. We started with the mussels, and while they tasted good, they were on the smaller side and didn't quite feel like the best bang for the buck. The shrimp cocktail was also good, but it only came with four shrimp, which wasn't specified on the menu. That was really my only qualm. Aside from that, the ambiance was warm, inviting, and relaxing; a great spot to unwind and enjoy dinner. The service was excellent across the board, and I want to especially shout out the young lady who was cleaning and resetting tables. She was phenomenal, incredibly attentive and on top of everything. That level of care definitely stood out.

We stumbled across Dante & Luigi's on a bit of a fluke. It was amazing, and we absolutely lucked out that they had space for our party of three without a reservation. The ambiance and service were awesome. Our waiter George was do patient and helpful. Tip notch waiter for sure!! The food was also amazing. We ordered rigatoni carbonara, chicken Parmesan, crab linguine and fettuccine Alfredo. Everything was incredible!! We ate so fast we forgot to get pictures of everything!! Highly recommend!!

I have wanted to come here for thirty years. We were a party of eight 5:30pm 5.15.25 celebrating my niece's graduation from Widener. The old house is thick with character. Rooms are cozy and a lil dark which I loved. Food was excellent. Our server was very personable and took good care of us. I want to kick myself for forgetting his name. Things ordered at our table - Sausage and Peppers App, Antipasto, Chicken Parm, Linguine Crab Bianco, Baked Rig, Perciatelli Genovese (server recommended this be served with Rigatoni), Rigatoni Carbonara, Osso Buco, and Lasagna. We skipped coffee and dessert because a Strawberry Shortcake from Isgro's was waiting back at the house. Nice experience.

Friends told us about this authentic Italian dinner restaurant. Decided to try, had 6pm reservations for 4. We arrived and there is valet parking which is great. Upon entering we were greeted and taken to a table on the first floor. Our waiter came with water and warm Sarcomes rolls, oil and balsamic. Told us what the specials were and took our drink orders. Drinks came in 5 minutes and waiter left and waited for us to relax for a few minutes and look over the menu. We ordered apps of Caprese salad, anti-pasta plate and chicken livers. These came out within 10 minutes.. and everything was delicious. My wife said the chicken livers were delicious. I don't eat them. They were in a marsala wine sauce with mushrooms and onions. After finishing the appetizers, our dinners all came. I had the special of sausage, meatball and a piece of pork with gravy over pasta. Wife had the meatball and spaghetti. Friends had chicken Parmesan with a side of pasta and Perciatelli Genovese. All came out hot and delicious. The building is 175 years old and beautiful decorated with old vintage Philly picture. It was not noisy. It's like going back in time to your Nona's house for Sunday dinner

A second birthday celebration Our reservations were mistakenly made on 11/1 instead of 10/25. We had to postpone from 10/9 my actual birthday due to illness. It was worth the wait. The service was great from.the moment we stepped in. Our waiter Aarond was amazing, we started with cocktails vs wine. I described how I like my bourbon and it exceeded my expectations. The caesar salad was perfect ratio of greens and dressing. Crispy calamari rings with marinara. The other salad was house salad. We were aeeved appetizers and salad in timely manner. Our entrees ziti w broccoli rabe and Italian sausage and 2nd entree was a seafood medley lobster tails, mussels, clams on top of linguine with a spicy sauce. We opted to do one dessert, chocolate cream cheese cannoli. Everyting was delicious. Authentic Italian food with a wide selection of traditional dishes. The restaurant offered perfect ambiance for a dinner for two. We definitely plan to return to try the plentiful list of traditional dishes. One plus is the valet parking, on street parking is limited in this residential neighborhood.

Every Sunday with my Temple University Crew and family!!

Steve and Frank are the best .....food is excellent service is extraordinary We will return every two weeks for family Sunday dinner .....

I've been here twice, and while this spot is a cute, old school place, the food is kind of underwhelming? Ive had the vodka rigatoni and the Italian sausage ziti, and both were good but not amazing. I couldn't really tell you what was missing, but there's so much good Italian food in Philly, and I think this place falls a little short. If someone was very enthusiastic about coming here I wouldn't say no, but I wouldn't pick it again on my own.

My favorite meal I had in Philly this last weekend. Service ... food .... Everything was just amazing. I'm sad I can't eat here on the regular. When I come back this will most certainly be on the itinerary. There was so much more I wanted to try. Not sure how they have a four star rating when to me they were out of this world. Go here

What an amazing place. The food is among the best I have had in any state, in any neighborhood-in my life! The service is old school caliber-first class all the way. The ambiance is something to be admired-with beautiful details that date back decades. Run, don't walk to get there!!!

    Eggplant rollatini app

Visiting from Texas, we enjoyed the heck out of ourselves at Dante and Luigi's. Our server was attentive but also efficient, and on a busy Saturday night, the energy in the room was high. We both loved the eggplant rollatini appetizer and enjoyed some reasonably priced wine with our entrees. I did the veal bolognese (perciatelli) and my husband liked it even more than his seafood cioppino. The cioppino broth was thicker than a broth, more like a sauce, but had great flavor (he went with the spicy option). We had to enjoy the chocolate chip cannoli while we finished our wine, and enjoyed the dining room ambience, our room had a fireplace in it, and you definitely knew this place had been around awhile. Definitely an old school vibe, but not stuffy and not overpriced. We were able to use a credit card, and they also offer a discount if you pay in cash. Ubers were plentiful and easy to get so you don't have to deal with parking in the neighborhood.

    Tiramisu
    Raman D.

Dante & Luigi's is a good Italian spot in Philly, giving off old school Italian vibes. We ordered the chicken mellanzane and the Dante & Luigi's Signature Special, which are meatballs. I was expecting red sauce with the chicken mellanzane but they used Bianco sauce instead and honestly, it didn't work for me (I would recommend you substitute for red sauce). On the other hand, the red sauce on the meatballs was fantastic. For dessert, we got the tiramisu and it was a letdown. I didn't like the shaved chocolate on top as it overpowered the espresso flavor that makes tiramisu so good. I definitely wouldn't recommend it. One thing to note is that the restaurant accepts credit cards but you can get a 5% discount if you pay with cash.

I actually celebrated my birthday here last year and this place is always a hit, never a miss! We started with the cucumber and tomato salad and the country bread, and what a delicious combination! We also ordered a side of olive oil, and they seriously have some of the best olive oil I've had in a while. I definitely recommend getting some on the side to dip your country bread in. Trust me! We paired everything with a pitcher of sangria, which gives you about four drinks and was much more economical than ordering individual cocktails. I finally tried the chicken Parmesan, and boy, am I kicking myself for not trying it sooner! The chicken breast was thick, juicy, moist, and perfectly crunchy. Some places make their chicken Parm so thin that it barely feels like you're eating chicken, but this was an actual substantial piece of chicken with the perfect bite. Our waitress told me I could swap out the pasta and sauce that normally come with the chicken Parmesan, so of course I did! I got the rigatoni with vodka sauce, and it was DELIGHTFUL. The portion was massive, so I took leftovers home and yes, I absolutely ate them the very next day! My fiancé got the branzino and wanted something lighter so he could help me with the rigatoni. His plate was beautifully presented, the fish tasted incredibly fresh, and it was exactly what he wanted. Overall, we had another wonderful experience. This restaurant will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we'll definitely be back! A special shoutout to our waitress, who was absolutely delightful and told me I could change the pasta and sauce with my chicken Parmesan. You changed my life! You have no idea how happy you made me. The service was good, but there was a wait both times we strolled by (Sunday and Tuesday), so would recommend making a res. The only caveat is that I would not recommend coming here with a party larger than 4 people, the restaurant is very small and rustic and can't fit a larger party. It was fine for us as we were able to push some outside tables together (and it was a beautiful evening), but I do wish we could have sat inside.

The whole dish tasted homey, like what you would get at an Italian family's house. The veal braciocle was small, and I wished there was more protein and less pasta to be more balanced. For dessert, everyone raved about their gelato. Their pistachio flavor was clearly a favorite, as it had intense fresh pistachio flavor. It was also tan in color, as you would expect a pistachio nut to be, not the artificial green color added to other pistachio gelatos. I had the amaretto cherry flavor. It was good too, although I wished it had more cherries. A few people got their espresso, and really enjoyed it. They roast their own coffee on-site, so I am not surprised again how fresh it tasted. Tip: Pour a little of their fantastic coffee over your gelato to make your own fresh affogato. I came here with a large group and despite the tight space, we felt cozy. Service was spectacular. We had multiple food allergies in the group, and the waitstaff took each one very seriously, asking down to the detail if the allergy was by consumption or cross-contamination. We have had the great fortune of dining here multiple times. What sets this particular establishment apart from other dining experiences we have had in Philly is their attention to...everything. From the flatware to the glasses to the greeting, service, and knowledge of their food...the dining journey you embark upon is unparalleled. When we arrived, our waiter, Eric, greeted us warmly. We have had the pleasure of meeting Eric on many occasions. Why is Eric so special? He knew our names. Remembered our conversations. Recommended items based on our previous dining habits. He provided interesting details about the products. Explained why and how dishes were created in the manner they chose, and frequently checked back to ensure our meal was as magical as we hoped. Chef Vetri came out to warmly greet us and thank us for returning. Maybe some would see that as a small gesture, but to us...it made us feel important and valued. For such a talented souls to take time to say hello, knowing how much it had meant to us on prior visits, underscores their attention to detail and service. It was appreciated beyond words. One of the hostesses, Diana, also made sure to check up on us. She asked questions based on prior conversations, she laughed and joked with us about life and home ownership. She sought out my wife to say hello when Rachel had stepped away for a moment. The exceptional steps the staff took to ensure our night was a step above others was clearly notable. We couldn't have been more appreciative of all of the efforts of the entire restaurant. We walked away feeling on top of the world...if only for a few short hours. The restaurant itself is such a warm, hospitable environment...how can you beat a rustic row home in Center City on a cozy Friday evening? The decor is inviting and familiar...like walking into a family's living room. It's quaint, it's beautiful, and it certainly pays homage to the heritage of the city. As for the food...that's the easiest part to review. There wasn't a misstep on our plates. From the oyster amuse bouche, with a horseradish crema that stayed in your chest just long enough to tell you hello but not hot enough to tell you it's a bad night, to the molten pistachio cake....the menu took us on a winter/spring journey a ride at Disney plant replicate. The gnocchi with black trumpet mushroom and smoked goat with polenta were my stars. Rachel loved the foie gras and wagyu. But really...what can beat the spinach gnocchi or the tortellini or the onion crepe or the....younger the point. The attention to detail, blending of flavors, and notes that accentuate one another is unrivaled in this city. Yes, it's that good. I can't thank the staff and Chef enough for providing us with a night we will not soon forget. Five stars was a no brainer. Simply the best place to eat in the city, hands

Vetri Cucina was absolutely delicious! entrees and pasta ~5/5, everything else was 3/5. came to…read morecelebrate an anniversary and got their pick 4 menu for $165 pp. throughout the course they also served little complimentary things like spritzes, table top bread, watermelon gelato. we also had a nut allergy so they were able to accommodate us. a side note that was disappointing was that all the other tables got a card and a polaroid taken of them for their anniversary, except for us, so take that as you will :) here's what we picked: Antipasta: scallops w mango 4/5, refreshing and quality, but expected it to taste what it sounds like. sweet onion crepe 5/5!!! there's a reason why they kept it on their menu for so many years. incredible and the sauce tasted really good with the tabletop bread pasta: pappardelle w bluefin mango 5/5, perfectly balanced. spinach gnocchi 4/5, well executed but texture is a bit soft since it's spinach based Secondi: duck breast 3.5/5 a lot saltier than i expected and i've had salty duck before. it was ok would not get again but it was cooked very well. american waygu 3.5/5, good but basic, what tout would expect. Dolci: the dessert was a bit disappointing, Ricotta cheesecake and chocolate budino were both 2.5-3/5, would recommend trying their other desserts instead. ambiance: could get a little loud when ppl start to get drunk off wine (especially with their wine pairings) so we would have to raise our voice to hear each other. service: generally friendly and what you would expect if you're paying $400+ for dinner but as mentioned, since we weren't treated like the other guests, i'd give it a 3/5 :) would i come back? debatable. but im glad to have tried it to know since this restaurant is famous in the area. this is the feedback id give to all my friends that want to try vetri.
