Also, just FYI, most of the restaurants in town are closed Mondays, Tuesdays and some on Wednesdays as well. Or the deli is open till 7pm but you can't order sandwiches past 2pm. ‍ We were only in the area for a day but weird closing times or days were highly prevalent. But I digress, Mad River Inn has lush gardens and thoughtful landscaping throughout the expansive property. It seems like a wonderful place to hold a rustic themed wedding as they have an outdoor chapel with seating and a dedicated indoor hall. The inn, tap room and restaurant are all very tastefully decorated in modern farmhouse style, with a lot of greige (gray-beige) paint that was very popular a while ago. Thoughtful touches are every where. Our check in person was very nice and helpful. We loved our room for our family of three where we could spread out and not be all in the same room all the time. The twin beds were wonderfully soft (my personal favorite) but the queen bed was definitely not as lush. I slept in one of the four twin beds as my husband snores. The bedding was soft and inviting. AC was great as it was a very hot humid day/night. The complimentary breakfast the next morning was next level good served by a very friendly, very accommodating chef. Homemade granola, breads, bagels, pastries etc but also a cooked to order breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon and home fries. Juice coffee etc of course as well. So I would actually give this place 5 stars but took off some for not having a dining room open for guests every day and the fact that our whole family mentioned the constant low level banging noise we heard below us as we were all trying to sleep. As there were no guest rooms below us we surmised that it was probably a washer and dryer making the noises. Husband said an easy fix to this is an arrester on the dryer that can be added to lessen the banging. Or skip doing laundry past 10pm. Still would highly recommend. Wish we could have tried the restaurant for dinner.

Breakfast was very good. People were helpful with suggestions of what to do in the area. I was driving to Maine, so I had limited time. Not sure if all rooms are like that. There's a community fridge behind the bar and it worked just fine for us. 2) Ice is in a small freezer behind the bar that they refill from the kitchen. It worked for us. 3) Breakfast is pretty similar from day to day. Little egg cups (crustless quiche) and an amazing yogurt that you can customize however you wish. Fresh bagels and breads. Coffee setup is well organized and works well. 4) The people are wonderful. As good as it gets. 5) Great rooms. Ours had a very comfortable bed and pillows, a small sitting area where we had a bottle of wine with friends very comfortably and a large bathroom with a great shower and separate tub. 6) No TVs but excellent Wi-Fi. Who has time to watch tv when you're travelling? Not us. I do need to stay connected to work, though, and the Wi-Fi had a reliable connection and decent speed for me. 7) The common areas are very comfortable and as beautiful as you could ever want. So many spaces to settle into without another guest on top of you. 8) Maybe 10 minutes to the downtown area. Not walkable but close enough that you don't really have to plan the trip. We really loved our stay at the Blind Tiger. I would happily return. Just a wonderful place!

Check-in was seamless & very personable - I rang a bell in the lobby & someone (Paige, I think?) appeared in seconds. My room was ready before their stated 4 PM check-in time, so I was allowed to settle in early. I stayed in the Half Pigeon room (all of the rooms are named & have very different vibes) which was very black & white & abstract. The common areas are designed to perfection. The solarium?! Maybe my favorite room I've ever stepped into in the entire universe. There are multiple fireplaces throughout the first floor. There is a small fridge for guest-use in the bar area, as well as an ice freezer. Snacks in a snack cabinet up for grabs. Breakfast was incredible. A full spread of fruits, yogurt, housemade bread (& gluten-free bread by request), flourless quiche bites, & more. Delicious, fresh-brewed coffee & all sorts of milks to choose from. On day two, they did breakfast to-order rather than a buffet. I assume to reduce food waste. I filled out a card with my desired breakfast order & what time I'd like to eat. It appeared on a tray in the dining room exactly when I requested. This hotel is SO worth the little splurge. I'm already daydreaming about planning a trip back to Burlington to stay here again. His enthusiasm was so addictive in fact, that we ended up extending our stay another night in order to sightsee per his suggestions! The Inn at Charlotte is has the perfect location for taking advantage of some really great biking both inland and along Lake Champlain. If you're daring, you can even try to tackle the steep Mt. Philo path. Duker was amazingly helpful in orienting us to the best roads and trails for biking in and around Charlotte, and plan some fun day-trips (including the Essex ferry). Breakfast is not to be missed, and I wanted to thank Duker for whipping some wonderful vegetarian meals. The inn is really relaxing to hang out at during the day - plenty of hammocks, chairs and shaded areas to relax. They're also chickens roaming premises, which were pretty entertaining on their own. I grew up in Bristol and decided that it was about time to return to my "roots" and see what rural Vermont has to offer. After a quick look, I realized that there were really no motels in there area but apparently in the last few years a few B&Bs have sprung up. As we were traveling with a 4 year old, I wasn't sure if it work out or not, but Sue was more than accommodating and the stars aligned in our favor. I'm sure that since I am from the area, I am too easily charmed by the bucolic splendor, but The Dreamhouse County Inn really captures the mood of country living. We enjoyed fireflies in the twilight, the dark and quiet of a country evening, and a delicious pancake breakfast with fresh raspberries in the pancakes. After breakfast, George took us on a brief walk around the property where we had the chance to visit the raspberry patch and also pick a few fresh blueberries as well. I would strongly recommend a stay at this charming B&B to anyone who wants to spend some quality time away from the hectic city life or is looking for a friendly place to stay while on the road.

The grounds are a small working farm - although we visited in early spring, so not much to see there. The inn has the quirky charm of a house that has probably seen many lives. The lounge areas have creaky wooden floors and other original features. The decor is a mix of farmhouse antiques balanced with more recent comfortable pieces. We had the "Love" room which had a giant bathroom with a jacuzzi bath/shower and a comfortable bed with and antique iron bed frame. The room was clean. The breakfast was made to order (eggs, omelettes, pancakes, yogurt or grain bowl) and enjoyed in a spacious dining room that also had self-service tea and cookies most of the day. The hosts are very accommodating. There is a network of trails accessible from the parking lot. Overall a great Vermont experience and a good value.
