The absolute only complains I have are not getting the weekday menu on the weekends (the Acai Bowl is absolutely life changing) and it is a bit confusing for newcomers on where to stand to wait for a table. This is probably our fourth time coming here, and I haven't taken a single picture because the food is gone before I can remember to. Tried this place on a whim, found it by searching diners in Poquoson. I'm overwhelmed at how satisfied I am at this place. First time we got the Can I Have a Bite of Yours (a sample platter of eggs, meat, and a pancake or French toast) and the Hangover Plate (biscuits and gravy with all the breakfast foods on top. I'm VERY picky with my eggs and pancakes. So much so that I rarely eat either. These were perfect. Soft, fluffy, scrambled eggs that weren't runny. Pancake like sweet fluffy pillows in each bite. The Hangover plate was gone and my husband was very satisfied, even sending his dad a picture of the empty plate. The jalapeno grilled cheese is to die for, and has quite a bit of kick. The burger is hand crafted and smokehouse mayo really adds a nice flavor to it. The French toast is like the pancakes--syrupy perfection. The coffee is great and they have a wide variety of creamers, unlike many places around here it seems. But the staff is honestly my favorite part. They are friendly, attentive, and always greet you with a smile. I fear this place gaining popularity, as it usually has no line/no wait. But the small house style restaurant has several tables, so they seat folks pretty fast. Tl;dr: go here for an epic local mom and pop breakfast. read more

Just gotta watch out for the crazy neighbor on the right side of the building. I parked in front to pickup my food and the guy was yelling at me saying he was going to call the cops. This small neighborhood place is packed with fresh meals that are only topped by the amazing hospitality they provide each table. The food is so fresh and amazing that I felt like they went to the store just before making my meal. Every person working was full of energy and spark that I actually felt better when I left. I also left full as I felt the need to try everything on their amazing menu. The inside atmosphere provides a relaxing home style feel and the outdoor seating made me feel like I was relaxing at home all while being served by a 5 star establishment in regards to the food. We came here yesterday, not our first time, and had the Bacon, jalapeno grilled cheese and fries. Omg! That was the best grilled cheese I ever had. You have to try it! My fiance had an omelet with smashed potatoes and he said it was really good too. Definitely ask for their special sauce to dunk those fries into. Never had a bad meal here. I use to roll up napkins back in the day and I didn't find that germ friendly. I got the burrito and honey got the 185 plate. I love when your tortilla is grilled. I have never understood why most restaurants never grill their tortillas. The tortilla should never be cold so I am so grateful for this place for making the tortilla warm. read more

I've been here many times. The food is always very good. Today was no exception! The service was terrible. The waiter was sent just poor he was rude and disrespectful. I brought friends from York County to enjoy breakfast. They were insulted and treated rudely. They asked for water and were told that the tray is only so big. Then when asked about the sweet tea the waiter said we are a restaurant not a tea house. I felt awful for them. He was an ambassador for Bull Island and he failed! The best food I've had in a while! 185 is very unique and is easy to fall in love with. Youcan tell it's run by a tight knit group that cares about the food they put in front of you. The food is 5 out of 5! I got the sweet heat chicken and it was the perfect mix of sweet, savory and heat. I started our brunch with a tequila sunrise which was subpar you can see the bartender who was also the hostess trying their best but didn't have the right tools to succeed since there is no bar located in the restaurant. The service was also very average. It seemed like the waitresses were covering every table leave some unattended for long periods of time and some getting an unnecessary amount of attention. I'm definitely going to come back but it will most likely be on a weekday where it's not as busy. read more

Decided that I would give this place a try. A lot of my friends raved about this place and I really wanted to see if they were as good as they say they are. The place is kinda small, so if want to dine in, you better get there early. That wasnt an issue for me as I placed an online order. I live in Newport News by the James River Bridge, so it gives them plenty of time to prepare my food before I come get it, so I thought at least. When I arrived, I went inside to get my order and the young lady working the register told me 5 more minutes. That wasnt a problem at all, I stepped outside and made a phone call. I talked on the phone for about 10 to 15 minutes and when i hung up, I went inside to get my order, remember it only needed 5 minutes. After standing at the counter for another 5 more minutes before another lady asked if I needed help, she checked on my order and said it was on the way. She seemed annoyed by me and mumbled about being busy. I get it, most places with good food are typically busy. However, its no reason to treat me like I'm bothering you or annoying. I was only standing at the counter because it was communicated to me it was almost done. Aside from the order pick up hiccup, the food was really really good. I had the smoked brisket breakfast burrito with bacon added and it was well worth the 19.00 I paid. The smashed browns are out of this world good too, I could eat those by themselves. If your looking for good brunch food, I highly reccomend this place, just know they get extremely busy and some of the staff seem to get lost in that and forget you're the customer. All in all I would totally eat there again, maybe next time I order earlier and give more time. read more

For my first time visiting, I REALLY had high hopes based on the reviews of my friends. I am here for work away from my kids so my friend's husband treated us to a Mother's Day brunch. After 20 minutes, I had to hunt down a waitress to even take our drink order. That took another 15 minutes just to get the drinks. Our food took another 25 minutes to get and we didn't even get all of our food (my friend is celebrating Mother's Day and did not even get her food). Although the waitress said "they are rolling your burrito right now" that was a lie because it took another 20 minutes to it to come out.
