Château Pétrus & Friends Bordeaux Dinner w/ Christophe Émé | Friday, March 17th at 6:45pm OVER…read more$15,000 WORTH OF WINE by Ian Blackburn, Sommelier, Wine Entrepreneur, Wine Educator.  Well noted Chef Christophe Émé né Guide Michelin Étoile Restaurant Ortolan, Kass, Chef de Cuisine of legendary L'Orangerie prepared an impeccable, sumputous 6 course Menu Dégustation using Truffe Noire, Sevruga Caviar, etc. that was fit for royalty paired with extremely well known ultra premium Bordeaux wines.  What made for a very unusual pairing is not just having one wine but two of the same wine from the same vigneron but of two different years for a mini Vertical Wine Tasting that was so educational in being able to contrast and compare.   For me, having the privilege to dine many times on Chef Émé's rarified Nouvelle Cuisine Française is a sensory delight along with Ian Blackburn's selection of superlative wines. It reminds me of the heydays when Patina rocked with warm hospitality by Kevin & his kind staff, exquisite cuisine, paired wines by the incomparable  Silvestre Fernandes. Our day started when Maurice picked us up in San Diego and drove us over the border (a super easy and simple ride). Once over the border, Maurice took us to three wineries, all of which were amazing. Our experience included live music, dancing, a four course meal, a stop at a local cheese market, incredible wine pairings, and of course the wonderful company of Maurice who knew all of the owners of the wineries and we were treated as valuable guests. Such a good price, too! Simply cannot wait to go back to the Mexico wineries with Maurice and will take my parents next time.

The class was super welcoming and not intimidating at all, even if you've never made a cocktail before. The Mixer Mama walks you through everything step by step, from how to properly use the bar tools to how different flavors work together. I loved that we used fresh ingredients and premium spirits, which made the drinks feel really elevated. We made 3 cocktails and learned techniques I actually feel confident using at home now. The recipes were creative but still approachable, and the whole vibe was relaxed and fun. Everyone was laughing, shaking cocktails, and cheering each other on. Another thing I appreciated was how interactive the class was. It didn't feel like a lecture. It was a hands-on experience where you're actually learning while having a great time. You also leave with recipes so you can recreate the drinks later, which is such a nice touch. Overall: amazing atmosphere, delicious cocktails, and a really unique experience. Kristi created a special drink menu based on Star Trek and it was amazing. Kristi made Beam Me Up Coffee, Pickard's Infusion, and Klingon Bloodwine. And she had no alcohol versions. I was blown away and the cocktails were amazing. She even used the right pictures and fonts for the menu- high levels of art and craftsmanship. Kristi also donated one of her mixer kits as a door prize. She really made the party special and I would hire her again in a second.

Montrose has long been a wonderful destination for shopping and this was their first ever Wine Walk! I really love walking around Montrose with a beer in my hand during their famous Oktoberfest so when the Wine Walk folks offered me a free ticket to a Wine Walk of course I said hell ya! Grab a glass, walk down Honolulu and sip away! The Wine Walk was a wonderful event including very generous pours of amazing wines including Fess Parker and Mumms. Each ticket entitles its owner to 15 one ounce pours which is actually quite a lot. I could only use half of mine ! It's also a super way to find out about new businesses in the area. For example, I had no idea that Casa Cordova has a gift shop! And it's lovely. While this is the inaugural Montrose Wine Walk, I certainly hope they have another one because it was really fun and a super idea.

There were 31 pouring stations throughout the Montrose Shopping Park. There were some appetizers, which was a nice treat to go with the wine tastings. Thanks to this event, I walked into shops that I never knew existed! Casa Cordoba had some eats. Montrose Candy gave out some samples of candy. I also got a certificate for $10!! We used it to get something to eat. TY also for the shopping bag. Some were lucky to get a free wine glass. LUCKY!! Plenty of free parking. Looking forward to attending again.
