I knew I had to book the bus at least 6 months in advance to make sure I got a great price and that the bus was available. The bus tour was one of our family activities for my 3-day family reunion in late July, consisting of 200 people. About 60 went on the bus tour. My family enjoyed the tour and had phrases of how great Steven and his team were. To top the great service we got, Steven even drove back to hotel that my family was staying in to bring back an iPad which one of my aunts left behind. Now that is beyond customer service! Steven, I thank you for taking great care of my family! I will definitely book again.

This was amazing because the level of time, energy and thoughtfulness I was given went beyond what some vendors provide even customers that wind up using them. Our guide, Ansley, was respectful, knowledgeable, approachable, and friendly. She really brought the stories to life and made everyone feel comfortable asking questions. The vintage funeral car was such a cool and fitting touch for the Manson Family Murders Tour (and the main reason why I booked the tour). About 80% of the experience was spent in the car, which was cozy and gave us plenty of time to soak in the history while listening to music from the era. Including Manson, The Beach Boys, and The Beatles, to name a few. We also made three stops along the way to get out, take photos, and see key locations up close. As a mortician, the experience carried an extra layer of meaning. I actually helped funeral direct the service for the LaBiancas' granddaughter (who had the same fate as her grandparents). So hearing and seeing this history firsthand felt deeply personal and surreal. If you're into true crime or Los Angeles history, this tour is an absolute must. Graveliners and Ansley made the experience both educational and unforgettable. We loved every minute!

Needless to say, we arrived 10+ minutes late to hear the buses already backing out. The manager at the office radioed the bus and guide and got them to pull over so my family of 5 could run and jump on. It was an incredible act of kindness, and we were extremely grateful. But then the guide was even BETTER. Brian was outstanding with his story telling and kindness. The tour was nice. The people are Star Line were great.

After doing some research, we settled on the Starline full day tour which encompasses their three main tour routes, Hollywood, Santa Monica Pier, and the Griffith Park Observatory. Doing all three was very reasonably priced considering the amount of time and the area covered, not to mention the hassle of parking at some venues. Our guide, Ross, was knowledgeable and friendly. He also answered all of my silly questions. There were some major disappointments that had nothing to do with our guide. The tour bus was not only dated, but marginally roadworthy, with the check engine light on and the TPMS warning illuminated. This was a 13 passenger van with the roof cut away. Seat pitch was similar to a budget airline seat. My 5'3" wife was not able to sit comfortably due to the narrow seat spacing. There were also no cup holders, or space allocated for purchases or camera equipment. Ingress and egress was an adventure. The floor level was two very narrow steps (maybe 3" wide) down to curb height or two short narrow steps and one big step to street level. I felt lucky and deserving of an award each time I made it out without breaking any bones. There was a 18" to 2 foot wide panel to protect the passengers from the sun, although it often only shaded part of the middle seat passengers. Each seat had a seat belt, but my second row passenger side seat belt kept tightening and locking, so I ultimately couldn't use it. The PA system worked perfectly. The guide was easily heard and understandable. He also was able to speak enough Spanish to help the members of the tour that spoke limited English. The bus rode smoothly over some rough roads. Due to local ordinances some parking locations required a bit of walking to get to the ultimate destination, for example Rodeo Drive and the pier were both required pretty long walks. I doubt any other tour company operating legitimately would be able to do much better. There were plenty of great views and perfectly timed stop overs to allow some exploration. I never felt rushed or bored. Clear timing expectations were given and I think they were well thought out based on their experience. So do I recommend this company- that is the real question. I wish they would get better buses. That would make it a no brainer. With the current equipment I would probably stick with the Griffith Observatory portion of the tour only since parking there is either crazy expensive or impossible to find. With a newer more spacious mini-bus with cup holders, package accommodations, working seat belts, and legally required vehicle maintenance I would definitely take the full day tour.

You may think that's what I want . ACTUALLY , the closed windows were great because of the air conditioning! The windows were plenty big enough to see everything and you didn't smell marijuana all day. . 2. We saw everything ! We leaned a lot from our driver and.he knew pretty much everything. 3. The bus was clean and comfortable especially for an all day tour . 4. I thought we had plenty of time at each stop and the stops were perfect IMO. -Santa Monica -Venice Beach -Beverly Hills -Farmers Market -Griffith Park -Hollywood 5. Our driver cared about everyone . One of our stops , a couple ( from another country) was lost . He made contact with them , made sure they were ok BUT did not leave !! We started with everyone and returned with everyone ! 6. It didn't affect us BUT he was bilingual and very good at spanish with his other guests 7. Very important - Our driver/ tour guide was amazing ! His name was John G. Very knowledgeable about everything LA even the history . He knew something about everything . Plants , trees , buildings , where stars lived , gee wiz things, even things about the other guests states they were from . Everything !! Too much too list . He enjoyed his job . We did not have a vibrant bus but that didn't stop his overall enthusiasm and motivation . I hope everyone have him a tip. He earned every bit of it . Always felt safe , he had road detours , that didn't matter , he found a way around !! Our one time in LA after several trips so why not !! This company is top notch. Why this company with so many out there . It was recommended by Universal Studios . Then we researched . Over 7,000 reviews with 4.8 stars out of 5. Thank you John G!!! And thank you A Day in La!! Arrived Early, Treated Rudely, Safety Issues, 30+ Minutes Late…read more We prepaid for the 11:00 AM open-air tour 4 days in advance and arrived at 10:40 AM with printed confirmation stating the bus leaves on time and all late arrivals are bumped to the next tour. Instead, we were repeatedly told to "come back closer to 11" and then that there was a "bus issue" and come back at 11:15 am. We wandered around in the cold. We checked in 3-4 times because we had lunch plans after the 2-hour tour. Staff claimed another group was late (which turned out NOT to be true). Meanwhile, employees were trying to recruit more passengers. Only after we said we were canceling 30 minutes late, did they send us to board a bus. The driver was nice, but one seat behind him had no working seat belt. Three blocks after leaving, the bus was called back to pick up a group of 8 even though there were only 7 seat belts available. We were pressured to give up our safe seats and wait for another bus. We refused to exit. We refused to sit without a seat belt. The older male staff member was aggressive and extremely rude. The tour left over 30 minutes late. Disorganized, misleading, RUDE older man and unsafe. Horrible experience for the start of our vacation. Would NOT recommend.
