We stopped after visiting the NHP - it's a quick walk from the junction of C&O and GAP. I've worked in restaurants - this place is top notch. We had both soups - a GF chicken noodle soup and a vegan kale & artichoke (coconut) cream soup. The flavors were incredible. You can tell they spend a lot of time perfecting their soup. We also had sushi, a Tuna Maki roll and a California roll. The California roll was GF because they use ACTUAL (Maryland) crab instead of surimi. It was super good. Super. Service was easy with both paper menus, or a convenient ordering screen. They have a full bar, too. They have tables as well as couch/chair area. You can get self-service water, too. Super comfy and welcoming.

This time I was passing by at dinner time so checked it out. It was Trivia Night so I opted for outside at one of the small 3 patio tables. The street has an outdoor dining vibe with two other restaurants also with outdoor seating. You put in your order at the bar (at least this Wednesday night) with a welcoming bartender on easy check list for sushi and ramen. I was stopping on the late side and those finishing their meals were clearly enjoying themselves. Many knew each other across tables as lots of stopping by for chats among friends. The pork belly in the ramen was definitely my jam as it had a crunchy top with easy to come apart pieces. Definitely the highlight. Not nearly as big a fan of the Asian greens which fell into almost a paste, the mushrooms not looking like they were fresh (to be fair there is a shiitake option I missed), and the smoked eggplant a little too chewy. And I took a flyer on the "special broth" without asking what it was so that is on me. But the really dark perhaps cinnamon infused (don't hold me to it) version was not something for me. The noodles were ample but not plentiful and were legit. So I think I'd opt for Nori instead of Asian greens next time and go with more traditional toppings. But definitely endorse the pork belly. I tried a smoked eggplant sushi role as something new. Just fine, I've tried it but I'll try another combo they have next time. And I know the economics are tough these days and specialty roles are routinely low teens in cost, but I'd suggest a two tier pricing scheme rather than $13.00 for one with a single ingredient and just 6 rather than normally 8 for specialty rolls. Glad I stopped and I will again to try some of the other fare. Just may be a little more traditional in my choices next time.

From the moment we walked in, the ambiance set the mood perfectly--dim lighting, warm and inviting, with Sinatra Christmas tunes playing softly in the background. It felt charming and intimate, especially welcome given the extremely cold temperatures outside. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive, checking on us regularly without ever feeling intrusive. The cocktails were excellent and did a great job warming us up, which was very much appreciated. The food was absolutely amazing. Everything we tried was rich and flavorful, with a standout Gorgonzola sauce that was truly delicious. The creamy burrata with pesto and balsamic was perfectly balanced, and the scallops were easily some of the most delicious we've had--cooked beautifully and full of flavor. Ristorante Ottaviani is such a comfortable, charming place to enjoy high-quality Italian food. A wonderful spot for a relaxing, special meal, and we're already looking forward to going back.

I will say that the wait staff is fine and deserves a fair amount of grace. They can only do so much. If I were the owner I would fire the kitchen manager, the bar manager, and myself out of embarrassment. The entire system needs thrown out and redone. Perhaps just sell the building to someone who actually cares about the business and wants to make proper changes. Once again, the food took forever to come out, and after well over two hours we only got two of four items ordered. The quality of the food was fair to poor at best. You will never find yourself craving anything from here. Then you have the poorly stocked bar. They ran out of three things while we were there. All before 8pm on a Saturday. Their whisky selection is embarrassing for a place with a Cigar Lounge. At this point we will only go back for events and we will be either eating before or just taking our own food to eat there. Probably our own drinks too since they can't seem to do that right. Mismanaged. Uninspired. Underwhelming. Embarrassing. Wasteful. Shameful.

We even got to meet the owner who was working behind the bar. Ambiance is cool. They have a little shop area that you can buy local art work, soaps, and jewelry. They have a sitting area with just couches and a table. There are various board games you can play. There are different types of seating. You can sit at the bar, high top bench area, normal dining area with chairs, or sit in front of the ramen bar and watch her chef it up! The food was ok. I give this a 5 star review because my partner was obsessed with the ramen bowl and the sushi (i didn't get a picture of the sushi unfortunately). The corn dip was great. It had a lot of flavor but i will say, the portion size was off. Not happy about how little dip we got. There were tons of left over chips. The chips tasted like they were made in house. The old fashioned was great. We opted for the in house bourbon. The espresso martini was a disappointment. The size of this was very small for the price. I even asked the owner about this, and he informed me it was an illusion based on the shape of the glass. I don't believe that because i was barely buzzed. It also didn't come with a rim like stated in the drink description. The India power bowl was also a huge let down. I opted for quinoa. The butter chicken, chickpeas, and quinoa were super dry. Not very impressed. It didn't have much Indian spice flavor. Best to stick to the sushi and the ramen bowl.

We stopped in for a bite of lunch and ended up spending half the afternoon! Amazing wine and beer selection and very creative food menu. The place is actually a collective - with various independent small businesses under the same roof. They make it easy to open a single tab and purchase from multiple places but pay all at once. Service was amazing - welcoming and very helpful to orient us to how to order. Warm, friendly and professional throughout our stay. The business area in historic downtown Cumberland is undergoing major work on the street and sidewalks - but it was easy to find free parking nearby and had no problem finding our way here. A really memorable place and great people - highly recommend if you are in Cumberland and looking for good food and a pleasant experience!

First, when we walked in, the greeting was, "may I help you?" I thought we may have been in the wrong place. We were seated, but took a while before a server came over to take our order. By this time, we had time to peruse the menu and decide. When we went in, the room was empty. By the time our server came, the room had filled. I asked if the sweet tea is sweet. I was told "not very sweet" strike one. Then was told only Pepsi products. Strike two. I knew it wasn't looking good at this point. I noticed they have a French item on the menu as well. Very odd selections. I settled on the Seafood Scampi. Bad choice. We were told the kitchen was "backed up." Hoped the toilets weren't. So, the bread will be out in a while. They should have kept it. It was very "doughy" and like chewing "Big League Chew." The food finally arrived, after a very, very long wait. The food was luke-warm at best. There was absolutely no seasoning, so was very bland. The menu stated, "our secret scampi sauce." Well, it was quite a secret, I couldn't see or taste it. Our security clearance wasn't high enough. The shrimp was over-cooked and like rubber. The mussels were salty, but at least had some seasoning. Our server was overwhelmed. She did not do a good job, but I still gave her a tip. The place is super noisy. They had music blaring, so everyone talking very loudly. I have been to Italy, and this place is as far from Italian as it gets. I did finally find the secret sauce. It was pooled in the bottom of the plate. Also, I never saw a manager the entire time. They need to step up and help the poor servers and talk to diners. The prices are high, for the low quality food. I read reviews that say, "best Italian food..." Evidently, they have never had good Italian food.
