Stopped here for a Mother's Day Luncheon with my mommy. I had heard about this place for quite awhile - my Dad really liked it and with short notice and lack of reservations this was a perfect fit. It's located in an area near to other restaurants and dessert spots, in addition to being near to Lavale. Considered a bar and grille, there is plenty of seating, large areas for tables of all types, as well as an outdoor covered deck and what looks like a new addition they are working on. Also there are several televisions on the walls and also above the bar. There was a lunch special for Mother's Day - NY Strip, shrimp scampi, salad, and a dessert cupcake of choice. The waitress alerted us that the steak is not regularly on the menu- but was for the holiday. I ordered the steak medium and even though the steak came with a colored toothpick in it- it was well done. Usually medium means pink the middle, This was well done. I will say it was juicy, and was well-flavored, but I really wanted medium. The shrimp scampi was prepared with penne noodles which was very odd- but was seasoned well. The salad was refrigerated and wasn't prepared fresh- which wasn't a big deal. Cupcake I chose was carrot cake - icing was cream cheese iced and was very tasty. Overall the meal was GOOD but wasn't over the top exceptional. Our waitress was very nice, it looked like she was handling too many tables and still was able to fill our glasses and check on us regularly. I would say just based on food this place is a 3-Star, but the fact we chose something they don't regularly have (steak), I would like to try it again with something they are more noted for. Also the customer service allows me to raise it to a 4 Star.

Worst omelet ever. Overcooked eggs, dried meats and cold cheese. Place just looked old and tired.

We stopped after visiting the NHP - it's a quick walk from the junction of C&O and GAP. I've worked in restaurants - this place is top notch. We had both soups - a GF chicken noodle soup and a vegan kale & artichoke (coconut) cream soup. The flavors were incredible. You can tell they spend a lot of time perfecting their soup. We also had sushi, a Tuna Maki roll and a California roll. The California roll was GF because they use ACTUAL (Maryland) crab instead of surimi. It was super good. Super. Service was easy with both paper menus, or a convenient ordering screen. They have a full bar, too. They have tables as well as couch/chair area. You can get self-service water, too. Super comfy and welcoming.

This time I was passing by at dinner time so checked it out. It was Trivia Night so I opted for outside at one of the small 3 patio tables. The street has an outdoor dining vibe with two other restaurants also with outdoor seating. You put in your order at the bar (at least this Wednesday night) with a welcoming bartender on easy check list for sushi and ramen. I was stopping on the late side and those finishing their meals were clearly enjoying themselves. Many knew each other across tables as lots of stopping by for chats among friends. The pork belly in the ramen was definitely my jam as it had a crunchy top with easy to come apart pieces. Definitely the highlight. Not nearly as big a fan of the Asian greens which fell into almost a paste, the mushrooms not looking like they were fresh (to be fair there is a shiitake option I missed), and the smoked eggplant a little too chewy. And I took a flyer on the "special broth" without asking what it was so that is on me. But the really dark perhaps cinnamon infused (don't hold me to it) version was not something for me. The noodles were ample but not plentiful and were legit. So I think I'd opt for Nori instead of Asian greens next time and go with more traditional toppings. But definitely endorse the pork belly. I tried a smoked eggplant sushi role as something new. Just fine, I've tried it but I'll try another combo they have next time. And I know the economics are tough these days and specialty roles are routinely low teens in cost, but I'd suggest a two tier pricing scheme rather than $13.00 for one with a single ingredient and just 6 rather than normally 8 for specialty rolls. Glad I stopped and I will again to try some of the other fare. Just may be a little more traditional in my choices next time.

We even got to meet the owner who was working behind the bar. Ambiance is cool. They have a little shop area that you can buy local art work, soaps, and jewelry. They have a sitting area with just couches and a table. There are various board games you can play. There are different types of seating. You can sit at the bar, high top bench area, normal dining area with chairs, or sit in front of the ramen bar and watch her chef it up! The food was ok. I give this a 5 star review because my partner was obsessed with the ramen bowl and the sushi (i didn't get a picture of the sushi unfortunately). The corn dip was great. It had a lot of flavor but i will say, the portion size was off. Not happy about how little dip we got. There were tons of left over chips. The chips tasted like they were made in house. The old fashioned was great. We opted for the in house bourbon. The espresso martini was a disappointment. The size of this was very small for the price. I even asked the owner about this, and he informed me it was an illusion based on the shape of the glass. I don't believe that because i was barely buzzed. It also didn't come with a rim like stated in the drink description. The India power bowl was also a huge let down. I opted for quinoa. The butter chicken, chickpeas, and quinoa were super dry. Not very impressed. It didn't have much Indian spice flavor. Best to stick to the sushi and the ramen bowl.

Service was amazing - welcoming and very helpful to orient us to how to order. Warm, friendly and professional throughout our stay. The business area in historic downtown Cumberland is undergoing major work on the street and sidewalks - but it was easy to find free parking nearby and had no problem finding our way here. A really memorable place and great people - highly recommend if you are in Cumberland and looking for good food and a pleasant experience!

I just had two sides, as that was enough. Four pieces of chicken with honey butter drizzled over it with biscuits underneath and then I had the fried cinnamon apples and green beans, and those were good sides to go with it. I really wanted to try the hash brown casserole but I knew that would be too much. Three sides and four pieces of chicken! That's no way. I had the half-and-half: the lemonade and the tea, which was a really great combination, not too sweet. My mother had the fish and loved it. It was a great portion size and it was a great flavor. Our service was quick. The food came out very quickly and our server kept us up to date as to how things were going. She brought the corn muffins quickly although I saved those and took them home as it would have been way too filling. I did have the corn muffins at home and I found them to be flavorless and dry and probably should have tried the biscuits. I was expecting the corn muffin to be very flavorful as it is in other restaurants. We were there in the middle of the day on a Sunday and it wasn't very crowded so we were seated immediately. Luckily we went and shopped for candy in the store after we ate as we would have spent way more money had we done that before eating. Highly recommend a visit here.
