I was staying at the Hyatt so my co worker and I tried the food at the lounge. It wasn't busy so we found ourselves a seat near a window. We ordered a few appetizers and drinks from their menu. The food was good, I especially loved the herb chicken strips. They were so flavorful and crunchy. My aquarius drink was delicious and so refreshing. Let me just say, Christian is awesome! I had a drink coupon from the other night when I took the "Take a Hike" tour, but I didn't get to use it that night, so I went over there last night instead since I was going to be downtown anyhow. Christian whipped me up a fantastic Old Fashioned and we chit chatted a bit before the yelp event I was headed to. Silly me thought re:bar was walkable, but after looking on both of our phones, Christian helped me realize it was actually in Ohio City. (Turned out this venue USED to be a few blocks away, but that location no longer exists where it once stood). Not a big deal, but definitely not walkable on a cold December night and I would have never figured that out if Christian and I hadn't had that conversation. Anyhow, the 1890 is a nice, warm, welcoming venue at the Arcade. I had a nice seat at the bar and it wasn't too busy that evening, so I had the perfect opportunity to chit chat a bit before I headed out. My friends ordered dinner there the other night after the "Take a Hike" tour, and they all said they really enjoyed it too. Always happy to support a cool local business inside such a historic venue. We arrived at 1890 around 7:15p on a Tuesday night and the bar was empty. We ordered holiday cocktails and food. One staff person was handing the room and bar when we arrived. As the room filled up it appeared a manager was helping expedite orders. The holiday cocktails were very festive. This is picky but two of our cocktails did not fill the glass. The Snow Globe cocktail was very appealing. The staff were nice and friendly. The food was good. The highlight was walking out into the arcade. read more

I'm not sure how they messed up a bacon, egg, and potatoes breakfast, but they did. It was some of the most average tasting stuff I've ever had. They also brought out toast but with no butter or jelly. I had to ask, and only got jelly. Next day, I tried two different breakfast items: chia seed bowl, and yogurt parfait. The yogurt was way too sweet; and neither of them needed to have bits of chocolate on them. The second day's server was better. All in all, one of the worst menu breakfasts I've had as a Hyatt loyalist. Thankfully this was free due to Globalist status. The atmosphere is decent and honestly the only reason we eat here is that its free for hyatt globalists. If you are here on a sunday and they have the buffet, definitely order from the menu. The eggs on the buffet are absolutly inedible and the premade waffles could break a window if thrown at one. From the menu, the standard eggs and poratoes are ok although overcooked. Service is spotty as well. Honestly i would only eat here if you are a hyatt globalist as its included, otherwise go somewhere else. read more

I stayed at the Arcade hotel for 4 days and I absolutely enjoyed having a nightcap with Becky at the 1890 bar. She was a delight, always offering great banter and a wonderful drink when we needed some respite from our busy graduation weekend. Becky's Espresso martini is not to be missed. read more

We arrived for breakfast at 8am because we were staying at the Hyatt and it was convenient. Plus the only sit down food option among the empty storefronts. The ambiance was what you would expect for a hotel restaurant with neutral colors, basic decor and tables. For a breakfast menu it was very limited Oatmeal, Omelets, Waffles and Fruit and overpriced. I liked this place. It was a nice spot to come and grab a quick drink. The staff were really nice and it wasn't too busy. I like the laid back atmosphere paired with the somewhat sophisticated decor. I did not order food, but I would have without question if I didn't have dinner plans. It all started off with The server rudely telling us the main dining room was closed, next all the tables were gross and we had to ask her to wipe them off and she acted like it was the end of the world that we asked for a clean table. Not at all what is advertised online. It's literally just a hotel bar nothing fancy. Food was okay and so were the drinks. But that's about it. The floors, trim, baseboards, and carpet were disgusting so I can't imagine what the kitchen looks like. We enjoyed brunch at 1890 Restaurant the morning after a family wedding at the hotel. The brunch was good but not as abundant as I would expect for the price. They offer made to order waffles and pancakes as an addition to the buffet. The restaurant itself is pretty small but we didn't have a problem getting a table mid morning in a Sunday. I was a little surprised to discover when the bill arrived that coffee was $5 additional something I think most breakfast buffets would include. The service was good. read more

It's the main restaurant in the arcade for the hotel. I primarily came for breakfast and had decent service. The staff is very friendly and quick. They're pretty accommodating for breakfast but there aren't a ton of options. The menu is pretty limited and there aren't a lot of vegetarian options. But if your standard fare is bacon and eggs, you're pretty good to go. I wouldn't say it's a cheap place to eat but you don't have a ton of options in the area. All in all, not a terrible place to eat. read more

We got in very late but the 1890 was still opened and we were starving, so we went straight to the bar, had some drinks, and ordered dinner to go even though they were 30ish minutes to closing. Another good restaurant find in Cleveland. They are Kayde is an incredible sample of old architecture and craftsmanship heading downtown. There are not many stores left but there is a restaurant adjacent to the Hyatt. Wait staff was friendly and accommodating. Food was fantastic. I have the mac & cheese bacon it was a huge surveying an excellent comfort food. I would highly recommend this restaurant anyone visiting Cleveland. read more

I enjoyed a very nice brunch at the 1890 at my hotel, the Hyatt Regency Arcade this morning. The food was delicious and the service outstanding. Ashley was super fast and friendly. She made great menu suggestions and checked back on me frequently. I do a lot of business travel and when I am away from home, cheerful service makes all the difference in the quality of my stay. Ashely certainly earned an A+! Overall, the brunch is a great value. There is a wide variety of items and there is something for everyone. Later in the evening I stopped back at the 1890's bar for a beer and a snack. Lynnd was the bartender tonight and was outstanding! She made a great beer recommendation and was super fast and friendly. Overall, the staff at the 1890 are superb. Highly recommend. read more

We stayed at the hotel on Thanksgiving and everything was closed, after a movie around 10pm we stopped by because my husband was hungry, we asked a guy at the bar if they're still open and we can order some food and he said yes. I didn't order anything but my husband. The guy asked if we want anything to drink or just water and my husband said he wanted some water. He gave a glass of water to my husband, only my husband, not me. Maybe if you didn't order food you can't have water! What a service. read more

We went for breakfast since we were staying the hotel. The view of the arcade was nice. We had two waitresses. The first one was great and she refilled our coffee twice, waters and my son's apple juice quickly. She was very pleasant. The 2nd waitress took our order. I ordered the 2 egg breakfast, my husband ordered the breakfast burrito and our son ordered the chocolate chip pancakes. It took 40 minutes for the food to arrive. My son was only eating the top of the pancakes and I asked him why. He said they are burnt. I proceeded to turn them over and they were burnt on the other side but my son was ok just eating the top and we didn't want to wait another 40 minutes for more pancakes. My husband's breakfast burrito was amazing. My two egg breakfast with sausage was good too. The chef came over and asked how everything was. I told him about the burnt pancakes and he agreed to make more but again we didn't want to wait. Our bill was $76 for breakfast for three plus tip totaling $90 for breakfast. Very expensive for breakfast and very slow service. The staff was nice though and so was the view. read more

This was a pretty standard hotel breakfast. My family and I came in because it was the closest breakfast place near where we were staying. It's actually located in one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen, so the view is quite nice. I ordered an omelet for breakfast and some bacon. The omelet was decent. It wasn't something I'd write home about. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food. I was mostly intrigued by the imported jams they had at the restaurant which were from Austria. The jam was very good. Service was decent, kind of awkward at points. Overall, not a bad place to eat breakfast, but not a place that will blow you away, either. read more

I found this in-house restaurant/bar just delightful. Barb our waitress both mornings, could not have been nicer, cheerier, or more of a delight early in the morning. She was attentive, did not rush us, and explained the lay of the land. They open for breakfast at 6:30 which gave us time before our flight to fill out tummies. The items available at the buffet were plentiful, hot, tasty, and they would even make an omelet if you wanted one. The fresh fruit was in season and sweet, not in need of ripening as is often the case. When you enter, the restaurant is to the left and the bar is to the right. You can also enter the bar from the arcade after the restaurant closes. Enjoyment at the start and end of your day. read more

I was not happy with our experience here. Stayed at the Hyatt ARcade while in town and stopped in here one night after dinner for a drink. There were only two other parties here, one, a football fan from the wedding downstairs (obviously more interested in the game then the wedding) who was yelling f bombs the entire time he was here, and a father and his 9 year old son sitting at the bar, yes at the bar, not in the bar area. The staff saw our annoyed looks at the continues antics of the pig in sheep clothing (AKA The wedding guest) but did nothing to calm his words or his tone. They also did nothing about the 9 year old bellying up to the bar with dad. We opted for room service after this fiasco. read more

Service is not good. The waitress will take your order, never check on you while eating, and then you have to leave. Luckily I had $25 in free breakfast credit thanks to being a Hyatt diamond member and left my room number on a post-it note, but if you have to pay a bill, be sure to ask for it right away when you know you're done ordering. The last morning during my week-long stay was the only time I received an actual bill thanks to a better waitress (prices noted at the end). Your breakfast will typically take about 15 minutes to make. Overall, the breakfast is not very appetizing. I ordered the corned beef hash with Hollandaise sauce, and it was okay. The skillet was filled more with potatoes than the corned beef hash. The "hash" was more like shredded, small pieces of of corned beef, like pulled pork. I really wish there had been more of the corned beef. This would've also added more salt and flavor to the dish. Without a lot of meat, the skillet was bland. I also tried the lox bagel, which also was tasteless. I think I am too used to an everything or poppy seed bagel, which help add flavor. This does come with onions and capers, not listed in the description on the menu. I do realize that onions and capers are standards for a lox bagel, but the menu stated it was only served with tomatoes. I would've asked for no onions and capers if I'd known. This was okay, but just be aware there's no other side served with this lox bagel. In constrast, the chorizo burrito is served with a side of fruit (not listed on the menu). This was actually very good, but of course, how can you not have a flavorful dish containing chorizo? Containing potatoes (same cut as the corned beef hash skillet), mushrooms, bell peppers, and eggs, I would definitely order this again. I should also note each morning I also added a side of bacon. The fact is, is that I'll be eating breakfast here again because I will be staying at the Hyatt when I return during the summer. So, there's really no choice, and I am unsure if there are any other faster breakfast options within walking distance (especially when you factor in walking time). At least I'll have my own review to reference for next time. A word of advice - if the restaurant is out of newspapers, just go across the arcade to the hotel's concierge and pick them up there! They are open late on a Sunday - so, that's +1 star from me, since they actually fed me after my delayed flight. If it wasn't for the welcoming and helpful service, the place would be a 2-star with a stretch. The food is average, if not below... and the wine list is overprices and very limited. Since when the salad is a pile of oldish greens on a plate with some sprinkled cheese and dry flavorless croutons? Oh, it's a Cesare? We had breakfast here and should know better. Most hotel affiliated restaurants leave a lot to be desired. The eggs were over cooked and crusty. The sausage links were very interesting, they were larger than a hot dog and I'm not sure what type of sausage they were other than inedible. My wife's bacon was raw and the potatoes were burnt. The bill for this was $49 and change not counting a tip. Never again. read more

We went here for breakfast after staying at the Hyatt after our engagement. All of the staff were super pleasant and happy to chat with us and were very attentive. I had the apple cinnamon French toast and it was fantastic. My fiancé had the All American Breakfast which was equally delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the hash browns were the best part; sometimes they are hard to cook right. They also offered us coffee to go. Top notch. I recommend this place fully for breakfast. My work team held a Christmas lunch at 1890. It's been years since I had been to 1890. Things have changed. We arrived at approx 11:30 and were seated right away. The wait staff was super attentive. The group of 8, proceeded to order. I personally ordered an entree, Salmon, quinoa and brussel sprouts, 3 of my favorite dishes $22. Everyone else at the table mostly ordered sandwiches and fries. The food took a little bit of time to arrive, and there was no bread service while we waited. My salmon was overcooked and the quinoa and brussel sprouts were mushy and tasted as if they had been left-over from the day before, broth added and re-heated. The meal was dull, unappetizing and a bit pricey for lunch. I don't think that anyone was really "wowed" by their meal. I probably would not re-visit. read more

My wife and I stayed at the Hyatt and our room included breakfast at 1890. What a nice assortment of breakfast dishes! We were only expecting bland buffet style breakfast. I had eggs Benedict with their homemade breakfast potatoes, a mix of white and sweet potatoes cooked with lots of onion and peppers and served with Siracha Ketchup. My wife had a spinach and chicken sausage egg white omelette. Both dishes were good and they give you a large portion. The service was great too. The decor is a bit odd, I think they need to redecorate to make the restaurant fit in better wth its historic surroundings. With some remodeling, this place would get 4 stars. read more
