Within walking distance from the Hilton Downtown Cleveland, this is a small diner tucked away inside of an old building. There were a bunch of regulars sitting at the counter and chatting it up with the servers. We grabbed a table and were greeted right away. The server checked on us often but didn't smother us. We also witnessed a lot of folks coming in to grab to-go orders. The menu is very simple and straightforward. They serve breakfast all day and lunch service begins at 11am. We both had breakfast. Between us, we had scrambled eggs with cheese, eggs fried over-medium, bacon, French toast, pancakes and potatoes. Everything was decent. I wished that the cheese had been cooked into the scrambled eggs and allowed to melt, but that was okay. Also, the texture of the breakfast potatoes were like mashed potatoes that had been smashed and burned on the flattop grill. We weren't a fan of those. Overall, the place was cute and quaint and the staff was friendly. Everything was priced very reasonably as well. Also, anywhere you can find the locals at is usually a good sign! read more

Addy's Diner is a classic diner tucked inside the heart of The Arcade. It's super cute with a cozy vibe, especially with the bright neon "Addy's" sign glowing in the space. The food is exactly what you want from a diner, comforting and done right. They have my favorite style of French toast, and everything was cooked perfectly, including our extra-crispy bacon (which so many places somehow get wrong). Very busy! There is a home baseball game on the day we came, so that may be why it's so hectic. We put our name in and had about a 20 minute wait. We were quickly given a menu. It took a short bit to get our order... maybe 20 more minutes? But, they were short staffed. They had one waitress, one working the counter, one chef, and one person cleaning off tables and resetting. I think they purposefully staggered seating to make it more manageable for themselves (understandable). The food was good and we didn't feel the need to eat again for several hours. Rock solid diner food and a good find in downtown. I had breakfast there while in town for a convention. I ordered a special which came with two eggs, bacon and a chocolate chip pancake. Service was prompt and coffee refills flowed like the Cuyahoga. The pancake had lots of chocolate chips, bacon was crisp and the eggs were cooked as I ordered them. I'm sure the locals like this place, maybe (unfortunately) that says something about the locals, but Addy's didn't meet expectations. The food was less than eatable. I had blueberry pancakes that were undercooked. Meaning that the batter around the blueberries was just that...uncooked batter and not cooked pancake. You could eat the edges, but dive into the center of the pancake at your peril! The coffee, which you would think any establishment called a DINER would have mastered, was terrible to the point of being undrinkable. My wife asked for a "replacement cup of coffee" which was just as bad. The ambience is not something worth judging. It's a diner with a counter in one of Cleveland's many reclaimed or repurposed "arcades" and for that they should be commended. The buildings like this one are largely empty in Cleveland and deserve to be reused. Addy's is just wasting the opportunity by not serving good food or coffee. Walk by this place and instead go to the coffee shop on the right as you first enter the arcade. I don't remember its name, BUT IT WAS PACKED WITH PEOPLE which means the coffee might be worth the wait! read more

Delicious and filling breakfast in an indoor strip of stores. Very busy and for good reason! We were seated fast, served quickly and had plenty of good food. We both had Addy's grand slam, one with chocolate chip and one with blueberry. Both were loaded with the goods. The home fries were super crispy, good bacon and sausage, and nice fluffy scrambled eggs. Prices are fair. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed, good service but also enough space for seated parties. Addy's diner is a Cleveland classic. I went for brunch with my then-boyfriend at the time, and the food was basic, but done very well. It kind of reminds me of a more homely/homemade Denny's? We got biscuits, ham, eggs, etc. and there was nothing wrong with any of it! This is the reason I give four stars actually -- it wasn't particularly spectacular, but I left full and it was all done well. The staff were friendly, and I could tell working very hard because the place was actually quite full and had a bit of a wait (I actually didn't succeed in going with a friend the first time I'd tried because it was so packed and the wait was long). The location in downtown Cleveland is fun so that you can get brunch, and then go out to do things if you like hanging out downtown. Overall -- solid brunch spot, but there are others in Cleveland that I did like better since they had more unique/creative items on the menu! The hostess was so sweet and kind and kept us in the loop about the wait. Our waitress, honestly has the worst customer service I have ever had. When we told her there was a sticker on the lemon, she doesn't apologize, has a complete attitude. Never came to check on us or communicate to us on why our food was taking so long to come to our table. Addy's Diner is located inside of the 5th street arcade. It's right in the middle so you can enter from either Euclid or Prospect. Upon entering they have a few seats where you can sit along the diner to the right, some half booths along the left and back, and a few tables to the center of the room. Great usage of a quaint space. All of the staff here were friendly and welcoming. I love that breakfast is served all day and the prices are beyond reasonable. I had their One French Toast ($6.99) with includes an egg and bacon, sausage or ham in which I picked sunny side up and bacon. Yum. Since the weather was so cold, I also asked for a cup of Coffee ($2.50) in which they generously replenished the whole time I was there. The meal was prepared quickly and everything was delicious. The French toast was well soaked, the bacon was crispy and my sunny side up was perfectly formed. The experience was very warm, both emotionally and physically since I was able to escape from the cold outside and enjoy a delicious meal. It just tasted like dirty water. The food was just ok but nothing to write home about. The best part was probably the toast.
