Good food and service at reasonable prices. Nicely placed antiques adorn the walls. Will definitely be eating here again.

The salad bar has also changed up a bit but thankfully the excellent bean salad remains on it and the large cubes of cheese which are really a nice addition to any salad. The decor is nautical, the atmosphere country as is the music on the radio including often older country hits (think Dolly, Conway, Waylon, early Reba, even Lacy J. Dalton now and then). It's cozy, family-friendly, and you're likely to see people you know. The waitstaff is super-friendly too though promptness varies--normally good service, sometimes someone will disappear for lengths of time, though--I like to say when that happens they've gone over to the springs to catch more mullet. The real winners on the pretty long menu: fried shrimp, stuffed shrimp, really anything they do with shrimp. The fried mullet, too, which is local. The shrimp po'boy or fish sandwich. The salad bar which, as salad bars go, is very varied and good. Best sides: sweet tater fries, swamp cabbage when in season, fried okra. All in all, a solid place for a good dinner and certainly nice people working there day in and day out--which, by the way, they're open seven days a week which can be a rare find out here in the country.

I've always kinda liked Bett's Big T but also used to have reservations about it. Back circa 2015,…read moreit was pretty run down, looked pretty grim honestly. I guess it began as a truck stop decades ago and then became solely a restaurant. Anyways, they have had a cosmetic refresh, painting the building, adding cute signage including some features explaining Bett's long history, and just made the dining rooms a down-home but clean and inviting place now. This goes a long way: I am all for hole-in-the-wall restaurants but you don't want a place to look dirty, either. Bett's no longer does. It looks comfortable and plain-spoken, honest, and home town now. The food has always been good. You get a menu dinner or daily special--things like chicken fried steak or liver and onions or fried mullet--and a choice of three sides. The sides range from mac-n-cheese and collards to normally a couple homemade desserts: the peach cobbler and strawberry cake both are not to be missed. Portions are generous. Their Friday and Saturday all-you-can-eat seafood dinner is also a real deal and good food. Red velvet cake, caramel cake, and lemon cake are hits too but less frequent in their menu appearances. Ford hook limas sometimes show up too, slowly cooked with bacon or ham and are awesome. The painting and general interior and exterior refresh really went a long ways with me to have greater confidence in Bett's. It's now easily a place I rank with some of the region's best country/Southern cooking restaurants.

Bless their heart, they tried. We visit the area regularly and visited Bett's at the suggestion of…read morea friend. We knew it was a renovated truck stop so we weren't expecting much decor as we walked into the messy dining room. However, I was still looking forward to a yummy homestyle meal. Unfortunately, from the sticky tables to the slow waitresses, the visit only went down from there. My daughters ordered the chicken fingers and boneless wings, and both were barely lukewarm and lacking flavor and proper chicken texture somehow. My husband ordered the patty melt, which was literally just that...a hamburger patty and some cheese melted on top on white bread. However, the star of the show was my liver and onions, a classic from my childhood. It doesn't take much to impress me with this classic meal though, and it didn't overweigh the slow service and filth of the restaurant. All of our tummies were a little bit upset after leaving, so we won't be visiting again.
