A Truly Exceptional Experience at 1900 Ocean Club -- Thanks to Cynthia We moved into 1900 Ocean Club in August 2024, and while Cynthia wasn't our original leasing agent, she has become the reason our experience here has been nothing short of outstanding. We were scheduled to pick up our keys on a Sunday, but our assigned agent was off and the staff had no idea we were coming. Cynthia stepped in immediately. She made calls, arranged to have the locks changed, and personally ensured we had copies of every key we needed. When we learned--at the last minute--that we needed our power turned on before receiving keys (something our agent never told us), Cynthia didn't miss a beat. She sent us the link, walked us through the setup, and had us fully registered within minutes. Since move‑in, she has continued to go above and beyond. She helped us secure on‑site storage, coordinated multiple repairs that were handled quickly and professionally, connected us with an excellent cleaning service, and even arranged to have our carpets cleaned. Every interaction with her is friendly, warm, and efficient. She remembers us, she remembers our dog, and honestly--she seems to know every resident and every dog in the building. It might seem like an odd shout out, but I am getting ready to relocate after having lived here for almost 9 years, and there hasn't been a day that the maintenance crew hasn't been there for me when I needed them. And that is in large part due to Jaime, who is the head of the maintenance department here. Jaime is wonderful. He is attentive, thorough and kind, and he takes amazing care of the entire complex. The "application process" feels like an obstacle course designed to destroy your credit and your will to live. If you're self-employed, good luck -- they'll treat you like you're trying to rent the moon. The staff's communication skills could use their own renovation, and "beachfront" technically means "you can see the beach if you squint and survive the staircase." I never even lived there and still got a move-out bill. 10/10 do not recommend unless you enjoy chaos disguised as coastal living. read more

I'll start off with saying the people and staff are really great. I've lived here for 5+ years and almost all of them (leasing and management change often) are great, especially Cynthia, a longtime resident and leasing agent. She's the sweetest and really makes you feel welcome, and also has a big heart for all the dogs in the building. The maintenance crew is fantastic as well; Richie, Jaime, Rinferri, all of them! They respond fast to work requests and some live in the apartment and can answer emergency calls. The building itself is old, so a lot of baggage comes with that, such as single pane windows and poor insulation. I face west, and it gets incredibly hot in the evenings. Studio apartments also don't come with central air (or laundry in-unit) so you must get a portable A/C and hang it out the window. Even then, it won't cool down below 85F, as the sun beats directly in, regardless of black out curtains or window treatments. The building itself just heats up and radiates in. There is asbestos in the ceiling, but that comes with all old buildings. The paint is 100 layers thick on the cabinets and walls which is annoying, and begin to flake off as you use everything. Tenants smoke in the smoke-free building. Leasing tries to talk to them but it generally always persists until they move out, as it is hard to kick them out. There are cockroaches every once in a while in someone's unit, but they have a guy that comes every Monday that checks and helps trap/spray/get rid of them. Every building in California gets them, hard to avoid. Amenities are nice; hot tub, grills, pool, game room, working room, printers, in-house restaurant, etc! The beach access is unbeatable. 1900 is one of the very few large apartment complexes in this location and not downtown, where you have direct beach access from the garage level. Speaking of garage, Lyon living price gouges the hell out of parking spots. They used to be $75 for one spot, but then they doubled it in recent years to $150! There are no state laws preventing amenities like this to rent control, so they can charge whatever they want. read more

Was highly considering this place to be closer with my bestie, but will rebuke that thought because of the roach infestation in this place. I wanted to share my experience during a recent review of apartments at 1900 Ocean Beach Club. Some of the best customer service received during an apartment search. We toured several apartments with Nyaa, and she was well-versed in its history, culture and commitment to the residents. As we were walk-ins, she took time to understand our needs and showed us some outstanding apartments that exceeded our expectations! This community, located right on the beach, is excellent. Do not let the exterior fool you-this community has some amazing views, amenities, and the location is fantastic. Complimentary paddle boards, bike, top tier restaurant (brunch only at the moment), resident-only gatherings, amazing gym with classes such as breath work, HIIT and yoga, with 24-hr maintenance onsite. I almost forgot about the grocery store located inside, too! If you are in the Long Beach area and need a place to call home, please reach out to the team at 1900 Ocean Beach Club and ask for Nyaa. Leasing agent was great. One of the best. However there was a miscommunication regarding a rent concession that was offered by mistake, then retracted. When trying to advocate for some sort of compromise, the manager seemed bored and irritated having to speak with me on the phone directly and made no accommodation. I understand how corporate housing works and that it's about the bottom dollar and making money, but I would have appreciated a more humanistic approach from the manager given the state of the world these days. BETTER OPTIONS IN THE AREA FOR THE PRICE YOU PAY We lived at 1900 for a 12-month lease. While the location is convenient, the overall experience does not justify the high cost, especially when compared to other properties in the area that offer better amenities and service. When you first visit, the front lobby will amaze you and the customer service in general is good most of the time. There are important inconveniences however that should be considered especially for what you pay to stay here: Maintenance & Service: Over the course of the lease, we submitted 10+ maintenance requests for issues including repeated AC malfunctions and plumbing problems with the toilet, bathtub, and kitchen sink. Some of these problems recurred, and one maintenance staff member attempted to shift responsibility to us and charge for repairs, despite the issues being building related. Without AC your apartment will get HOT during the summer. Overall maintenance team is exceptional. The issue is with the building itself. Amenities: Several amenities originally advertised were removed during our lease, including EV chargers, bike rentals, and a guest suite. EV chargers were specifically advertised as an amenity when we toured the property and were also listed in the 1900 app, where residents could make charging reservations. After the chargers were removed from the app, management stated they were never amenities but instead a temporary courtesy. The last EV charger was taken away with less than 24 hours' notice, and the EV charging option was later replaced with a $350/month rental space. These reductions occurred despite consistently high rent. The gym is beautiful although the cardio equipment could be upgraded. Rent & Parking: Our 1-bedroom unit was rented for $3,205/month, but total monthly charges came to $3,618.92 with added fees. Parking is $150/month for one spot, and we were denied a request for a second space. This led to having to park on the street, where our vehicle was broken into. The surrounding street parking is limited with street cleaning occurring every Monday and Thursday so be prepared to move your 2nd vehicle weekly and have a solution for car storage when traveling. On several occasions, parking near the building was unavailable and we had to park several streets away and walk to the apartment. Enforcement is strict for parking temporarily in the front of 1900 depending on who is working that day. Even briefly unloading groceries prompted a tow warning, despite our vehicle being registered. If you need more than 1 spot I highly recommend get a 2+ bedroom with more than 1 spot included with the lease Additional Notes: *Extra storage is $75/month depending on size *The complex requires a 60-day notice to vacate. *Sound insulation is poor. You will hear your neighbors and they will hear you. *Balcony use is limited due to wind and sand, and residents are warned of fines if water or debris falls below to other balcony's when cleaning. Note: Management requires you to clean your balcony when moving out. *Exterior windows were never cleaned after we moved in. Management said it was our responsibility to pay for the exterior window cleaning services. *It took 32 days to receive our security deposit refund. California law requires deposits to be returned within 21 days, yet ours was issued well past the legal deadline. Summary: The location is a plus, but the overall value is low for the price. Upkeep, amenities, parking, and service are below expectations. No doubt you will feel the 5/5 stars when you first move in; however, if you do not properly plan for the above considerations you will want to leave after your first lease as many people do. There are stronger alternatives nearby at similar or lower price points. read more

We had the pleasure of touring 1900 Ocean Beach Club this afternoon after accompanying our daughter to the Pacific Aquarium. We were surprised at how close it was to all the hustle and bustle downtown. Located about a mile South, we pulled into 1900 Ocean on the beach side. We really enjoyed the feel of the amenities on site like ocean front pool and gym, but decided against it due to the dated interior from the older build. Although renovated, this property still has low ceilings and antiquated tight elevators that make other properties more appealing that its ocean view. If you like this property, you'll love the Shorline Gateway or the Current on a few steps North from here. read more

I wasn't surprised finding tons of negative bad horrible reviews about 1900 Ocean and it's management company Lying/on Living all over the internet. I did see one positive review from Naya as a resident who also happens to be the assistant manager so just a tad bit of conflict of interest. Run like a dictatorship, there is no way to get fair treatment should you disagree with the building management. And it's an old building, constantly broken elevators exasperated by a constant flow of move outs, smoke smells in a non-smoking building, never hot water in the shower especially in the evening, and no pressure...my friends who lived on the top floor left because they had feces come up in their shower, not once but twice!! You can however hear the sound of of your neighbor's shower and music and arguments thanks to thin walls and ceilings. Dog pee smell and drips in the elevators, especially the back one, false advertising as there are no working bikes and paddleboards and not always heated pool as pointed out by the leasing agents who are only nice to their favorites. I saw a perfect summation review about 1900 on Reddit, "Luxury Living my ass!" And no recourse when damaging things are said about you, or if you are charged for something that isn't correct like an extra day when you were on a plane when you moved out, or don't get your money back for a deposit for a security fob you gave in good faith. Lots of better newer buildings on Ocean Blvd. Unfortunate that the final 6 months of my long term stay were so horrific that it took the formerly positive review right out of my writing. read more

I used to come to the beautiful, beachfront Plunge Restaurant on the 2nd floor of 1900 Ocean before I was a tenant and I was always impressed with how well maintained the property is. When I moved into the building last year I met the wonderful people who keep this place running and make it an awesome place to call home. Cynthia was the leasing agent who originally showed me around, but everyone I spoke with during the leasing process was brilliant. Just yesterday I was being helped by one of the newer agents, Jack Kurt, and he was just as helpful and kind as they come. I know this photo from my living room window looks doctored, but it is not! This building is lovely, the people are wonderful and the community they have built at 1900 Ocean is a fabulous place to live. read more

OMG......At this place people must take happy pills from the staff to the residents. From the time I took the tour with Cynthia, I left feeling as though she was already my neighbor. On the second visit, I met Nyaa and left feeling as though she was my long lost sister (I don't even have a sister). We had shared the sad experience of loosing our moms recently and the words of comfort Nyaa shared were priceless. I had to move in! As one knows, move-in day can be hectic; however, Jaime made it so smooth. Jaime is one of the smoothest maintenance guys. I put in a request, usually late at night, because I'm a night-owl. I leave and come back and it's done. It's like he has a camera on my apartment. I LOVE IT! And then there's Ranferi. I met him on the first day of my tour and he's just a bundle of delight. I had no idea he even worked here. But once, I moved in, his graciousness and professionalism is outstanding. When he was doing a maintenance duty, I was trying to tell him how to do the job. While smiling he continued getting the job done..... not the way I told him but correctly lol! I could go on and on about this place being a refuge and a wonderful place to call home. 1900 Ocean, far from luxury In a word, disappointing. Started off loving this place but ended up truly regretting it. Serious warning to all future tenants. The apartment building is old with superficial upgrades. Don't be fooled by the nice lobby; the luxury ends there. It's been mentioned by prior reviewers, but the walls are truly paper thin and despite having quiet hours management does little to nothing to consistently enforce. They advertise being pet friendly, but there's constantly dog urine in the elevators and hallways. I'm embarrassed to invite friends and family over. Gym is nice but more often than not filled with drunk 20-year-olds messing around with the equipment, the "luxury" pool is ice cold with chipped paint/plaster and needs to be cleaned. "Beach club" is literally music from a speaker while a maintenance staff employee hands out warm white claws. Management has changed 2-3 times since I've lived here with the new staff (except for Cynthia) being the worst so far. Nyaa Bruce behaves like a used car salesman with the only goal of renting out apartments without care for tenants afterwards. She will not follow up or follow through - you've been warned. They also engage in questionable landlord-tenant practices so again, be forewarned. All in all, this place is far from Luxury. Plenty of other "Luxury" apartments on Ocean Blvd. read more

1900 is amazing, I've lived here for 5 years now I've lived on the west side that faces the queen Mary and the east side that faces Orange County .This building just gets better & better every year! I love living here & the staff is absolutely amazing !!! shout out to Paige, Cynthia and Jack for making my experience amazing. Ray the new PD is already making great changes to the community and so helpful when I have a issue he's there to listen and make the changes right away . The maintenance team makes sure that everything is done in a timely manner and the building is always clean especially with the amount of dogs in the building living here. One of the best perks living in this building is the events that brings the community together and we all have a good time . They also have events for the doggy's which is totally cool and they also serve snacks and drinks daily . I absolutely love this place and I plan on not moving ever !!! I've lived at 1900 Ocean almost a year and have loved every second of it. This place is more than just an apartment building, it's a community and a family. Jack and Cynthia in leasing never fail to make me feel better when I'm having a hard day (and care about my Dog Theo just as much!) to Richie who I don't know if I've ever seen without a smile on his face while he works. This crew plans the most amazing community events from cook-outs to puppy-pawties that bring the community together in the most beautiful way. Then you have people like Ranferi in Mantenience- I've never put in a work order that wasn't addressed within 12 hours, and when I'm at home when he comes by he's happy to walk me through any problem I've had (I'm a girl who loves to understand). There isn't a person on the staff that I don't enjoy running into and having a conversation with. If you're considering a move and looking for someplace that is more than just a place to sleep, I highly recommend joining the 1900 Ocean community.
