Since moving here a few years ago I have had a great experience. I have felt safe and located in a convenient part of Long Beach. I would recommend living here to all of my friends and family. The staff has been incredible to work with. From the operations team, to the security team, and to the management team, everyone has been friendly. She has been attentive to any question or concern with speed and grace. She has also done a great job bringing the whole community together. Plumbing does not work here. * The water for the entire building is shut off all day a couple times a month. As of March 2026 now we are getting THREE consecutive days in a row of water shut offs per week. * The AC does not function consistently when it's hot outside. Maintenance has repeatedly stated the system can't keep up when multiple residents use it, which defeats the entire purpose of air conditioning. The thermostat will sit at ~76 all day while set to 70 and just run constantly. * Hot water does not work at all in the shower or washing machine. * Plumbing backs up weekly. I've had soap water from other units bubble up into my sink and toilet multiple times. * The parking garage gate was broken for roughly two weeks, leaving the garage unsecured. For the first several months, maintenance came into my unit 3-5 times per week only to confirm the same issues still existed. They are polite, but they are not actually fixing anything. They just verify the building systems can't handle normal usage. Management communicates scheduling windows but avoids putting repair explanations in writing, so residents are left with constant entry notices and no resolution. The building looks nice and the location is good, but the infrastructure does not support daily living. At this price point, basic utilities should function consistently. Move-in was unnecessarily chaotic. Property management did not reserve an elevator for us, even though we had scheduled a move-in time, and then tried to make us stop moving shortly after our movers arrived. There is no loading dock and no dedicated freight elevator in this building, moves use the regular lobby elevators, so it didn't make sense why we were being told to stop moving in when nothing was reserved or blocked off to begin with. We also had trouble getting basic info from Property management. Property management would not tell us where the dog spa was located (it's tucked away in one of the garage levels), and we had to ask several tenants passing by with dogs. When we tried to talk to PM to set up the ButterflyMX call box app, they were dismissive and would not register our email until asked repeatedly over weeks, even though the app specifically says management has to activate residents emails. Pros: Nice appearance, decent location, friendly maintenance staff Cons: Unreliable AC, unreliable hot water, weekly water shutoffs, plumbing backups, garage security issues, constant maintenance entries without repairs, move-in chaotic, property management is unresponsive beyond dismissiveness verbally and over email. I would strongly recommend asking current tenants about utilities before signing a lease. read more

Amazing complex! The Current is clean, well maintained and well priced. Denisse the community manager is well spoken, kind and super helpful! I've met her maybe twice and she already knows my name and my face! She's definitely one of the reasons why I chose The Current because her demeanor, warmth and honestly is like no other manager I've come across whilst searching for a home. I also want to shout out Alex/Ernesto because they really push through for their residents. I once lost my keys in the chute and in a short matter of time they quickly rushed into action to retrieve my keys. What an amazing tour at this beautiful complex with the tour guide Gisselle. First let me say how attentive Gisselle was with showing all the available option for lease, she answered all my questions with no hesitation. She was well versed in the building history and the community as well as invents near and around the area. Each unit was unique and nice. The property is immaculately maintained by the maintenance and cleaning crew, who are always so friendly. The gym, parking garage, trash room, mail area, and free dog wash station are kept clean and tidy as well, which makes it comfortable for everyone in the building to use. The members of the maintenance team, led by Alex, are on top of work orders, and take the time to answer questions you might have. The location of The Current is unbeatable, offering immediate access to Downtown Long Beach, while also being steps away from the walking path at Alamitos Beach. There are a ton of coffee shops, restaurants, and bars within walking distance, making it easy to be social while not having to worry about driving or parking. These apartments are beautiful but this review is focused on Raelle setting the standard for leasing agents. Raelle was incredibly helpful and her communication was amazing. She answered any and all questions that I had about the apartment, etc. She allowed us to tour multiple units to decide which would've been a fit for my partner and I. I was so set on this place but unfortunately, I needed an additional parking spot and parking on the premises has limited availability. The Current offers a lot of convenience with its prime location in the middle of DTLB. The connected retailers, including Hi-Lo Liquor,  Qargo coffee, Sushi Beluga, and BMore Pizza, make everyday errands and dining out incredibly convenient. The amenities are outstanding. I can enjoy a relaxing day at the beautiful 4th-floor terrace or take a dip in the pool on the 17th floor, both offering great spots to unwind and take in the views. Additionally, The Current hosts a variety of events, from the big Grand Prix party to smaller gatherings like yoga on the 17th floor, which adds a vibrant and engaging community feel to the place. The staff at The Current, particularly Raelle and Denisse, always make me feel welcomed and valued. What went well was the quick response time for a maintenance request on the weekend for an A/C repair. The technician arrived promptly and immediately got to work. The diagnosis of the issue was quickly identified, and a clear plan of action was put in place. While waiting for parts to complete the full repair, a temporary solution was provided, ensuring we could stay comfortable in the meantime. Alicia, Raelle and Denisse provide the highest level of customer service. Always willing to go beyond to assure that things are running smoothly. The Current is a great place to live in! The move-in process was easy and seamless. I contacted the building through their website and got a response from Summer within an hour of reaching out. She helped us schedule a tour and guided us through the application process. Summer was very attentive to our requests while moving in, turning a process that can usually be difficult into a nice, smooth experience. The staff is super friendly and does a great job of communicating and handling resident requests in a timely manner. The location of the Current is perfect - the beach is right across the street and everything in Downtown Long Beach is within walking distance. There are plenty of restaurants in the area to choose from and there are retail/food options within the building (Poki Cat, BMore, Hi-Lo). The amenities are clean and readily available for residents to use. The rooftop pool is a great place to relax on a sunny day - the view is amazing and there are grills accessible for BBQ. The building is super pet friendly, which can be hard to find, and even has a DIY pet spa. The gym has a decent variety of workout equipment, is spacious, quiet, and always kept clean. The apartments, especially the bedrooms, are more spacious than a lot of other luxury apartments that I've toured in the area. I always liked how The Current looked from the outside, but touring the building after comparing it with others and the treatment I got from the staff throughout the application process really solidified my decision of moving into the building. read more

The apartments are decent there's nothing crazy luxury about them but the way the building was built it makes it so you really can't hear anyone above or next to you which is really nice. The view is nice. For the price the gym is quite small. Extremely dog friendly complex there's always a lot of dogs around. The 24/7 security is nice especially at night when I go out to walk my dog(s). When I first moved in I felt as if the management team was really helpful and kind and I was able to move in so quickly! Denise is the assistant property manager and she is absolutely wonderful as well as the leasing agent that works at the front desk. The application process was extremely simple and I liked how they took the extra steps to make sure I was actually employed and to verify my income and such. They use pet screening for ESA animals which also is a huge relief and makes the process so easy. They currently have a new property manager that I think might be the reason the resident retention rate goes down in the future but that's purely my opinion, there's a lot of other apartment complexes in the area that are willing to work with you to make sure you found your perfect home that is actually ideal for you not just ideal for the company because if the price tag like this one. I won't be resigning because of the inconvenience of my current lease but besides that I don't really have anything negative to say about the living experience it's pretty standard. read more

The three property managers (Alicia, Denise, Raelle) are excellent. Security guards are always alert. Neighbors are wonderful. I think everything works in unison and that's why everybody feels comfortable. Hallway carpets are steamed every week. Pet owners clean up and take care of their pets. The staff and management are on another level when it comes to handling community and residents needs. Denisse Silva and Raelle Quinones are two names that you'll become familiar with quickly when visiting or living at the current. They both do excellent jobs serving the community and making sure every guest an resident enjoy their experience when living or visiting the current. These two women go above and beyond for us making the current really feel like home. Once again as stated in the beginning. I'm through with this place. My wife and I have lived at the Current since July of 2018. When we toured, we were both taken back by the views and the location. We found an open unit that was within our budget and jumped at the opportunity. Three days before our move in day, we received a call that the unit was no longer available. They offered us a different unit which they claimed was the only other available one bedroom...it was $400 more a month. We didn't have any option but to take it since we had put in our notice at our place in downtown Los Angeles. We moved into Unit 707 which was annoying because the address of "The Current" is 707 so we constantly had people coming to our apartment that were at the wrong unit. We even had a homeless woman come to our door and tell us she had a package for us as she tried to lure us both out into the hallway. Let it be known that you need a fob key to get on any floor yet there's always non-residents in the building. After a year, we moved to a different, more affordable unit. It went even further downhill from there. After a week on the east coast for Christmas, my wife returned back to our apartment to see that it had been flooded. One of the tenants above us clogged their garbage disposal which somehow led to our apartment flooding. I bought Wyze cameras after that simply so I could see if our sink ever flooded. Since that incident, we had to have maintenance come and flush out the garbage disposal three more times and our plumbing continues to be very fragile (thank God for those cameras). We had to throw away clothes, our valuables and move out for a few weeks. I didn't come back until after the move so I wasn't able to come into our apartment to grab clothes since everything was locked up. It was a terrible, terrible experience and we weren't compensated for any of it. It also wasn't covered by renters insurance. The icing on the cake happened recently. I had my bike, which I had a steel lock on, stolen from the P3 level. There are multiple bikes in this area and you need a fob to get on the floor. My bike was not the only one stolen. I spoke with security and they informed me "yeah there has been a lot of stuff stolen lately. Unfortunately, we don't have any cameras there. We do have cameras on the steps but I can't just look to see everyone that may have stolen your bike." I emailed management and they told me that they're investing more into security and that they are sorry. This was a $700 bike purchased in January. God forbid they offer me any type of break in rent due to their lack of security. I had my last bike stolen from my last apartment complex in downtown la. Don't trust anything you hear from this place. They say they're a smoke free apartment but we have cigarette smoke come through our windows and vents every day and night. Finally, when we first toured, we were told that utilizes would be a "couple of bucks." Utilities is just trash and water. A couple of bucks has been over $100 every month. This doesn't include your tv, internet and electric so be advised that you'll be paying hundreds of dollars more than your rent. Also, aside from the pool which you need a reservation for, none of the amenities have been available since March. It is my new goal to spread the word of this horrible, horrible place. Our rent even increased when our lease was up....in June...during a pandemic. Unbelievable! read more

Words can not express how satisfied I have been with tbs staff here since relocating from Atlanta to Long Beach. I wasn't sure about what to expect but from day 1 I received excellent customer service from the staff especially from one team member name Summer. Summer went the extra mile to ensure I was taking care of even when things were out of her control she will make sure management gets the job done. 10/7/21 ****UPDATE***** Were you tired of having to get meet your Postmate in the lobby? I was! Now I'm you can authorize your guest/postmate access via an app. The ButterflyMX app on your phone will sound when your guest is at the door. Your guest/postmate will look up your name in the digital directory. Don't worry, it's only the first initial of your first name and your last name. For example, it would look like this in the directory, "M.Johnson." When you hear the ButterflyMX jingle, your guest has arrived & the app gives you the option to let them in by swiping. Their is also a camera so you can see who they are. Once you have authorized them to enter, the elevators will unlock for 4-5min. Normally, both the front door & the elevators would require a key fob. With this new feature, it's clear The Current sets the bar for luxury and security. Shortly after I posted my yelp review, I noticed the addition of the ButterflyMX Security system near the front door! That just goes to show you that the management does listen to us. The all female management aspires to create an experience of luxury for those that are lucky enough to call The Current home. Ive been living at the current for 5 years and I have noticed since the addition of Elisha and the 2 other lovely ladies the building has been overall more organized, relaxed, and well decorated. So now I refer to them as THE FIERCE FOUR. Also, the fierce four installed professional scent diffusers in the lobby. They are so incredible.Having spent more time at home than ever before, It's no surprise that these little things like decor and scent diffusers make home feel, "homey." Moved in a few months after it opened. Was owned by one group then sold a month later. This is probably the reason for all the issues: When we first moved in, was told the place would have a lot of features that never flourished after 2+ years. Original staff was good. But then changes kept happening which lead to quality dropping off by a lot. Tons of issues overall and I honestly didn't plan on leaving a review til my Move out is still an issue after I moved out 4+ months ago. Final documents showed they owed me money back from deposits. But the company they use thinks we owe money. Thats sorted but now the money owed isn't paid and neither current management or third party service can help. Maintenance: Team was solid at first. Worker named "Martin" was always fixing things vs bandaid them/lazy work like now. Carlos (Supervisor) was ok in my book until he bluntly told me he was making sure Martin got fired because he helped people too much when he shouldn't. I wish I had Martins info to send him the Nest footage I have of him saying this before terminating him. Plus people claiming he was the one on the team stealing from peoples units. Security: Total joke, bless the lady upfront but she's not going to be scaring anyone away. They need an actual security service. Car got broken into in the 'secured' garage but no footage of it due to lack of cams, had tons of video gear in my car from a job that day and went to the car at 5am and all doors open and such. The list is long, I have a dog but everyone would have the dogs piss right up front and after a few days when they cleaned it'll smell pretty bad. I always took my dog out the side to avoid him adding to the issue. I'd say stay away from this place if you can. read more
