Tried 1909 for the first time for my birthday brunch. My friend and I chose to eat inside and enjoyed all the Christmas decor and special holiday drink menu. I had the carrot cake tea. I never heard of a carrot cake tea before but our waiter recommended it. I don't like sweet tea but decided to give it a try anyways and I'm really glad I did. I did not think it was too sweet and had a nice cinnamon spice taste. For breakfast I had the huevos rancheros with scrambled eggs. The chorizo was on the spicy side but the black beans and eggs made a good balance. Our waiter was really nice and helpful with making our drink and food choices. He was even was really cool about us taking our time to decide what to order. For the Christmas holiday the restaurant was doing shots for tots. $5 Christmas shot and all proceeds go to a local orphanage. Of course we had to give the shot a try. It taste just like an Andes chocolate mint, sooo good!! Our waiter even brought me out a sprinkled root beer float for my birthday. Great spot in old town Temecula. This place is a burger joint on steroids with a side of the best homemade chips you'll ever taste! The style is casual industrial chic. On a nice day 1909 is a good place to enjoy a cold drink on their outdoor covered patio. I must admit 1909 is one of my dogs favorite places to dine. They treat their 4 legged customers as well as their 2 legged ones. The menu is simple, straight forward food. The salads are all good, the pretzel is perfectly golden and salted , the fish tacos are decent and the specials I've tried are tasty. We stumbled across 1909 on our excursion through Downtown and it was most certainly the pit stop we needed. The service on a Friday night was quick and very helpful. The bartender/waiter was extremely kind and the food came out quickly. A friend and I ended up splitting the Balsamic Bruschetta which was culinary delight. I enjoyed the roasted tomato and mozzarella along with the messy drizzle. The beer to compliment it was worth it as well, being one of their many dark stouts. Worth the drinks and the meal. Once our food came we were very pleased with the serving size and quality of their food. I would highly recommend (even if you just get them as a side) their fries with Bacon salt, they are so delicious. The Bison burger was great as well. I personally ordered the pesto Pasta. Wow, what can I say. I never expected to see this kind of food out here in the inland empire. Especially growing up in the early 90's until 2012, I wouldn't never expect these kind of dishes to come out of this kitchen and that is being extremely bias to growing up in the area and only knowing California burritos and carne asada fries being top tier foods to eat haha. But enough said, let me start off by saying the appetizers did not disappoint! We got crab & shrimp empanadas- small portioned and comes with 3, but man oh man do these pack flavor with real CRAB. Very rarely do people get real crab when dishes say cooked with crab, meaning it's not imitation crab for once finally. It comes with a nice chimichurri sauce and corn relish that brings it all together. Only down side to these are that their on the tad bit oily side excluding the chimichurri sauce I feel like. The next dish we got was the seared cauliflower, something different for people who are always eating meat in their diet but never try vegetables on their own as an appetizer. This dish came with its accompanying sauces and they are to die for! The green tahini sauce is rich and excellent and the za'atar seasoning giving it a nice earthy/herbal flavor to match well with the green sauces. The mains we got were 1909 burger (I guess what their known for, judging by its name) and blackened achiote pork chop. Overall the burger is just a burger in my opinion but just done overtopping the rest; comes with a rich garlic aioli and bacon jam, a sharp white cheddar to cut with some baby arugula. To me like I said it's just a burger but done better and I can see why it's a staple to their menu but just did not wow me like their appetizers. Their pork chop on the other hand is something else; I felt like it's preparations is similar to a fine steak you could get (which their was on the menu but we wanted to try something different). Comes with small baby potatoes, squash, and beets all roasted perfectly. The creamy potatoes with the sweet squash and beet help bring down the savory pork chop. The chop was brined perfectly and has a nice layer of fat that's crisp around the edge and comes with Tuscan kale to refresh the palate for another bite anticipating some more. Overall I give it a 4/5 because of what I mentioned previously and I say this consistently and I recommend everyone to try here before thinking something else. It's a great place regardless with a nice patio in old town and a lively bunch of waiters and crowd that love to provide for customers whom like to eat or drink. Enjoy! read more

I came here for an early dinner (linner) and a cocktail, not impressed. The atmosphere provides a cool vibe which is what drew me in. This place is overpriced for weak drinks (10.50- 14.00 for a small weak cocktail) but the food was decent. I liked the pulled pork sliders the but the hamburger was WAY undercooked, I like medium rare but this meat may as well have been moo-ing. The hostess that sat my party was snotty and acted like we where asking for poison when we asked to be seated at a shaded table on the patio instead of the dirty table with half shade she first took us to. Overall this place is over rated and not that good for my experience. Brunch may be better, if I gave this place another try I may try brunch but not going back for seconds on drinks and lunch/dinner. read more

First timers at 1909, after eating at their other restaurant "Toast" two times. Which is awesome! The server is super sweet and fast. The menu looks amazing. I ordered the chicken Benny. We'll see how it tastes! I'm excited to be at 1909. Nice atmosphere and a lot of seating so the wait time was only 20 mins. UPDATE Ok so after eating the chicken Benny, not seasoned too good, sauce was light so I had to get more and not much flavor. My son wasn't happy with the tikka masala appetizer or his biscuits and gravy. Hubby liked the chilliquillas. We definitely would say "Toast" is way better. Planned in advance to come here with the BF's family and have a mini reunion with his grandma and his brother's friends. We got a table outside despite it being a hot day. It was shaded with a few umbrellas. We had an attentive server that made sure we were taken care of. I opted to try one of their white sangrias, which was super delicious and refreshing on this particular hot day. I also ordered the crab and shrimp empanadas to start and for my main meal I got the 1909 French toast. Both were heavenly! I could probably eat 20 of those empanadas in one sitting. They are full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The French toast wasn't too sweet or too much bread. It was the perfect portion for the first meal of the day. Everything else on the menu sounded amazing as well. I definitely have to make another trip back so that I can try the other meal options. Their brunch and cocktail menu is spectacular. Parking in downtown can get tricky, especially on the weekends but with patience you'll find something. It seems like there's always folks waiting outside for a table and it makes sense. Recently on Valentine's Day my wife, friends and I stopped by for some drinks and food and really enjoyed our time. I should have sent this review in the past however, I got busy and forgot to. Went here on a Sunday afternoon with the family. We looked at the yelp reviews and decided to give it a try. Our waiter's name was Issac. We read the reviews on the 1909 burger and the three of us ordered that and one of us ordered the Chicken Sammie Sandwich. We were not disappointed to say the least. The burger was everything you dream of a hamburger to taste and more. The hamburger patty fit the fresh brioche bun, the special sauce of bacon onion jam along with garlic aioli sauce made the burger explode with flavors. I would have to say this burger was the best burger I have ever had. We were all very impressed and agreed it has topped the list of great hamburgers. So, we each had to taste the chicken sammie sandwich. The tender piece of chicken breast again with the garlic aioli sauce with smoked bacon with fresh slices of avocado on fresh sourdough bread made for a delicious chicken sandwich. We were very impressed with the quality of food. The fries were plenty and tasty. The portions were great, the price was right on. Issac our waiter was outstanding. He made sure our drinks were always filled and checked on us regularly to make sure were were all good. The customer service was outstanding. We will be back and will spread the news to all.
