I've come here two years in a row for my birthday, and me and my mother frequently visit just for dinner. Wanted to try this since we love Dulce Tacos & Tequila. I know it's not connected but we were in Norman. Smaller place with a good size bar. The drinks looked amazing. First our waiter had come to our table but we were still looking at menu. After 2nd time, we didn't see him for a bit. I ordered the Trio without shrimp. I was pointing at the picture. Guessing they have Fajita that are trio too. That's what he brought me. I asked because pic showed cheese all melted on top with zucchini . They did take it back to correct. Like 3 blobs of cheese when it came. Steak was alittle chewy but Chicken was good. Lots of onions but not really cooked. Would I order again, no. Would I come back, no. I do think great place for a drink! Sorry to say,Waiter Edgar, not the best. Oh, and what was funny is after he took my plate that was wrong. A little while later he came and took the rice and beans that were in a separate plate without saying a word. I started to eat them while I was waiting for meal to be corrected. Ambiance is fabulous! 10/10 for decor, cleanliness, and friendliness of staff. They give you complimentary chips and salsa, queso is an extra charge from $7-10 depending on size. I didn't get a margarita but the ones I saw looked amazing! Definitely will be trying one soon. The flautas were great. Nice and crispy. Their rice is some of the best I've had in a LONG time! I have ordered the shredded chicken taco salad which contains an unbelievably large amount of chicken. The quality of the taco salad is consistently delicious, and the chips that accompany the salad are not really necessary, but maybe it's because I am not a fan of their salsa. read more

We ventured into 1942 on a weeknight and were excited to try this new Mexican spot. The staff were very welcoming upon arrival, and it seemed that one of our servers may still be in training, but the service was still on point. We started wit the complimentary chips and salsa which came with a red salsa and a white dip. Both were yummy! My partner had the 1942 burritos with salsa verde, and I had the El trio which had chicken, steak, and shrimp with mozz and queso sauce over a bed of rice. Cucumber margarita 10/10. Aguachiles verdes 10/10 wish the portion was bigger but overall was great. Enchiladas poblanos were pretty great too. Chips and salsa that comes out to the tables were good but the white sauce was weird, I did not like it. Huge drink and food menu. Food came out in 10 minutes. I also ordered the chimi cheesecake and that was surprisingly delicious and not too sweet. read more

Our waitress was nice enough, although she didn't understand the difference between soda water and mineral water and too Chico was not what I wanted. The whole ranch dressing and chunky ketsup they call salsa are a no go for me. The food was colorless and blan, felt like it was a very unhealthy kids meal. Don't get the tamales, yuck. I'm usually pretty forgiving and I don't complain, but I wanted to shout at the couple walking in, don't do it! I can't find a silver lining... I thought the verde sauce would help the situation, but the video shows how that went down. read more

Terrible service! We had been here once before and it was okay. We went tonight and sat at the bar, got chips, salsa, and waters (brought by the host). A couple sat a chair down from me and got their set up plus put their drink order in. We were never greeted by the bartender. Another couple sat down on the other side of my husband and got their set up and the bartender greets them and takes their drink order. So we got up and left. We came here on a Thursday morning when El Huevo (1.5 miles away) was insanely busy and not worth the crowd. 1942 was empty. We had four different people approach our table for chips, salsa, drink order, etc. It took a long time to get our food and drinks. The food is very reasonably priced. The drinks are way more expensive and not worth the money. I asked for a spicy margarita, which seemed to confuse the staff. The margarita was SO sweet with chopped jalapeños. Not muddled. Not jalapeño liquor. And it tasted like straight simple syrup. No salt on the rim or anything. Just a crappy margarita, honestly. My partner's margarita was also lackluster. They rimmed it with tajin without asking or offering anything else. I like tajin and would've been happy to have flavor in my drink. My idea of a good margarita is tart and a bit strong. Neither of our drinks had any tartness or good flavor. I ordered the chile rellonos a la carte. Those were good, maybe a touuuuch heavy on the cheese sauce. And great guacamole and good salsa. Our ticket for two drinks and two meals was $75.00 including tax and tip. Not worth that amount of money and we most likely will not back. Unless drunk recipes change and they hire staff a little more knowledgeable and efficient. read more

Odd place everything is extra and odd cheese sauce. It didn't feel welcoming, more like Mexican food meets biker gang.

Food was terrible. I had a beef enchilada, it had beef in it but nothing else-very plain. Guacamole was ok but nothing special. My friend had a tamale and it was supposed to hv beef n it but very little of it. She had a margarita and it was bad. Refried beans were very bland.
