This place hits all the marks for me - clean, affordable, high-quality food. Worth the walk in the humidity from my hotel!

I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more from their menu. The customer service was excellent, friendly, attentive staff and the food came out in a timely manner. I've tried the Aji de Gallina, Lomo Saltado, Arroz Chaufa, fried yuca sticks, Causa Limeña, and La Regia, and every dish was flavorful and well-prepared. Their drinks are just as impressive, especially the refreshing passion fruit, mango juice, and limeade. Highly recommend.

Fortunately for us, that was the case as it didn't start getting busy until we were leaving. The entire experience was fabulous--including the music and the courteous & timely service! We were a party of four-and-a-half because my daughter was famished, wanting to satisfy her cravings and eating for two! We started with tapas of causa limeña, ceviche, and a baked empanada trio: spinach, cheese & beef. We sipped our drinks and quickly moved on to the main course: Ají de gallina, lomo saltado, arroz chaufa con mariscos and chicken strips from their Kids menu. To top off the amazing experience, we enjoyed tres leches and churros with a couple of cappuccinos; both decaf & regular. In spite of the casual name, Latin Bites Kitchen is a restaurant and bar--also serving sandwiches, soups & salads, family trays, and Wine Wednesdays with 50% off all bottles of wine (check availability). If you're looking for authentic Peruvian cuisine in H-town (Do they still call it that?)--this is it! Check out their online menu: www.latinbitescafe.com

Opened this summer, Mr. Taco is Texas City's newest Mexican eatery. It's located about a block away…read morefrom the fairly busy Palmer Highway, which makes it a little hard to spot. But once you arrive, you're in for a real culinary trip south of the border. I dropped in very eager to try one of their taco plates. While the pictures on the restaurant's Facebook page had already piqued my appetite, I wanted to see for myself if they were the real deal. So, for my first meal here, I ordered the Pastor Street Tacos. Like at any good Mexican restaurant, my meal began with chips and salsa. It's an unwritten rule of mine that if the complimentary chips and salsa are good, the main dishes will be just as good, if not better. Fortunately, that rule holds true for Mr. Taco. I tried both the red and green salsas, which were truly spicy--a definite plus in my book. The tacos arrived after a few minutes. While the menu said they were miniature--there were four in total--they were a perfect portion. Anchored by marinated pork and topped with fresh onions and cilantro on corn tortillas, the tacos were accompanied by a bean-filled consomme and rice. With just one bite, I imagined myself on the streets of Guadalajara or Monterey; the authenticity was simply evident. I occasionally dipped the tacos in the consomme, which I could describe as a bit earthy and salty. Overall, the meal was incredibly enjoyable. This dish is a prime candidate for a go-to order on a return visit. I was very well taken care of by our waiter, Samuel. The meal's spiciness had me quickly finishing my water, but he kept the glasses coming without me having to ask. While working on the meal, I was parked in front of one of the business's massive TVs, which were tuned to the Astros game. That said, I consider Mr. Taco an ideal place to catch a game. It helps that it's open until 10 p.m.--or 2 a.m. on the weekends--though a staff member told me that's assuming they're not having a slow night. Price-wise, I'd say the costs are quite fair. My platter was about $13, which would be roughly three dollars more elsewhere.

We came for the specialty market to buy some items from Argentina. This place was packed with every table taken and several people waiting on a Sunday at 3pm so it must be really good. We saw homemade alfores which I absolutely love and they even had the crackers we love at their small market. With pictures of Argentina and Messi on their walls you tell the warm friendly atmosphere although busy. Will definitely return for lunch or dinner after reading the Yelp reviews. Needless to say, those 30 minutes are worth it and I've already been twice! There is free parking which is always a plus. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you are in Latin America. The decor is pretty neat and they sell traditional Argentinian candy, snacks and chocolates. We tried the Argentinian empanadas (because of course we had to) as well as the choripán and they were good but my favorite by far was the Chinchulines (small intestine a.k.a. chitterlings). Yum! Service has been great both times. If you are interested in having an alcoholic drink, call ahead of time to inquire as you are able to bring a bottle of wine but there is a corkage fee. I will DEFINITELY be back!
