We end up stopping by and saw an employee taking a break outside and told my husband where the menu was located. I chose turkey, Mac and cheese, collard greens and a side of potato salad. My husband ordered fried tilapia, yams, and lima beans. All dinners comes with a rice. We had pigeon peas and rice. My husband went in the restaurant to pick up the food. He came back and as I was looking over the food, I didn't see any cornbread. I saw the reviews on YELP, so I asked him to ask can we purchase cornbread or do they have any. The female employee stated she gave us some. No, we didn't have any. My husband came back to check and none was in our bag. She said that she gave us some. First of all, we would not ask for anything that we didn't pay for. If you look at how much we dine out, you would know that we spend money really well, and don't need any handouts. I was really disappointed! But anyway, she gave us what we were supposed to have, which was the cornbread what we NEVER received. My husband said he think that it was the owner that told the employee not to argue with the customer. That was unacceptable, PERIOD! :-( The food score: My food- collard greens-8 potato salad-4 Pigeon peas and rice-4 Turkey-8 Cornbread-10 Husband food- Fried tilapia-7 Pigeon peas and rice-6 Yams-6 Lima beans-5 Cornbread-10 *needed more seasoning on fish, and Lima beans. If we're in the area, we may order again. Hopefully we won't have an issue about the cornbread, again. :-/

However, if oxtail is on the menu, it's a no brainer for me. I got the oxtail with yellow rice, Mac and cheese and collard greens. My husband got the fried catfish with collard greens and sweet yams. My son ordered shrimp and grits which is his go to. You know the food is good when your head starts bobbing after the first bite like, "oh yeaaah!" We got a taste of each other's food and agreed everything was amazing! Our plates came with cornbread as well and portions are so generous. The gentleman and lady who took our order were super nice. My husband got 2 slices of lemon cake to go and said they were good. We will definitely be back next time we're in tbe area.

What a difference a couple days makes! Today was a home run for us and Sweeteheartz on Father's…read moreDay. I haven't been feeling well for some time, but lately I have been particularly ill. It was very stressful with Father's Day approaching and trying to plan something nice for my Father-in-law. I wasn't sure how I was going to do all the shopping and get everything ready for the usual Sunday barbecue, It became clear that I was going to have to find another way to celebrate. Sweeteheartz was fresh in my mind after the other day as it was really good food. The nice thing for us is this style of barbecue is exactly the kind of food this family loves. So we talked and Hubby was thinking the same thing. He really loved everything we ordered the first day. So today, I put my order early and sent a note that I didn't need it right away. I wanted to make sure they had time to prepare everything as it was a pretty big order. This time I ordered 2 whole chickens (1 with two sides, cole slaw and potato salad), and again, The Tarpley Family Rib Meal (Mac and Cheese with Baked Beans-and Cornbread). Wow. We had a lot of food. Everything was fantastic! My father-in-law was eating so fast and barely said a word the whole time. It was obvious he was pleased with the food. Now, my mother-in-law is another story. When she loves something, she has to talk about it with each bite noting something wonderful she noticed with each morsel. She loved the way the mac and cheese tasted and the crust on the ribs where it is slightly charred on the edges. She pulled off a little sliver and held it up remarking, that this is her favorite part...and then she went on and on about how great the sauce was. I was kind of blushing as if I had made it myself...except, well, I didn't! The really funny thing was when she commented on how the Collard Greens tasted because she doesn't really care for Greens. LOL Hubby was also very happy with the Greens. The other day must have been a fluke because these were excellent. I have to confess, I didn't try them, not that I needed to. My plate was full of deliciousness and I packed on the chicken and ribs, beans, corn bread, cole slaw-oh and mmmm mac and cheese and still somehow managed to finish it all. Thank you to Sweeteheartz for taking away the stress, and bringing us a delicious home cooked meal that we all loved making this a really wonderful Father's Day barbecue!

Some of us thought the drinks were too sweet but the majority drank with glee because "that's how drinks in the south are made!" If we are ever back in town we will be dining here again!

This is some of THE BEST BBQ we have had in a long time!! The brisket and ribs were so tender and flavorful!! The ribs fell off the bone, saucy, simply delicious Fiancé liked the smoked sausage with their BBQ sauce. Coleslaw was definitely tangy, very mildly sweet, and crunchy. The roasted corn was served differently than I expected, but still good! They cut a cob into small chunks which makes them less messy to eat! We are absolutely trying their Mexican street corn next time! The only mild critique I have is about the Mac-n-cheese. IMO way too salty. I asked for black pepper to try to balance it out. They did get some from the kitchen for me, but S&P is kinda a staple so would suggest making it more accessible. The service was phenomenal!! Tony is an incredible chef! The food is genuinely delicious and I would have expected to pay more for the quality of the meal overall!

The Spread: We ordered the brisket, smoked chicken, spare ribs, and baby back ribs -- yes, all four -- on one tray lined with butcher paper. It looked like a BBQ fever dream and tasted even better than it looked. The Meats: The brisket was the standout for me. Smoked over real wood for 12+ hours, hand-carved, pink smoke ring, tender all the way through. The baby back ribs were glazed and meaty with deep smoky flavor, and the spare ribs were thick, juicy, and packed with bold bark. The smoked chicken rounded it all out -- moist, flavorful, never dry. The Sides: Rice and peas with coconut milk -- fragrant and perfectly cooked. The 4-cheese mac was outrageously creamy (I kept going back for more). The sweet and tangy coleslaw was the perfect palate cleanser between bites of rich, smoky meat. The Extras: The 4-pack of sliders was a great add -- soft buns, well-seasoned patties, could easily make a meal on their own. The fries were golden and crispy. And the watermelon lemonade Kool-Aid with berries at the bottom? Refreshing, unique, and the perfect closer to an incredible meal. The Space: Big news for fans of Bare Bones -- they've just opened a brand new storefront next door with about a dozen additional tables and plenty of seating for the whole family. No more eating in your car or rushing home with takeout. You can now sit back, relax, and enjoy that tray of smoked goodness the way it was meant to be experienced. It's a welcome upgrade that somehow makes the food taste even better. This is a family-run operation with over 20 years of food experience and it shows in every detail. Bare Bones isn't just good BBQ -- it's a South Florida treasure.
