The cabin was okay besides the millions of lady bugs infesting the property. The cabin cabinets did have a old mildew smell. Under windows near the staircase the patch work for leaks is awful and very obvious since they are painted white and the room is not white itself. ( funny the patch work was painted over but not the slur?) The major issue with the cabin which is Sand Run is that there is a Blatant RACIAL SLUR SPRAY PAINTED ON THE SHED FACING THE PROPERTY. We brought this to their attention at checkout and was met with nothing but excuses and a series of um's and oh's. They're is not an excuse for this type of ignorance to be completely ignored and not painted over. Children were able to see and repeat the words written and it was visible to everyone as we came and left the property. Highly inappropriate and disturbing. It is disgusting that the company has the audacity to know the slur was there and did nothing to protect the businesses integrity and they offered no logical explanation for this being up still while people of color where staying on the property including black and white children playing together were exposed to this hatred. read more

Everything was great until it wasn't. The last night of my friends stay, a drone flew right to their windows and started recording them. There are no curtains on some windows. The incident occurred at night and there is no cell phone service at The Grand Slam Lodge. They didn't call 911 or the office for help also because there is nothing they could have done by the time they got there and could have triggered the drone operater where ever they were. The drone left after her fiancé looked at the drone. Video evidence. The worst part is the company did absolutely nothing to help aid in the terror they felt that night. Not one single sorry, not one reply to the original complaint until called. They said no one should be staying in the back building overnight but there was at least one worker. Their email back to my friends message was "Write whatever review you'd like, we'll rebut it" This really shows what kind of company this is. Me and my family rented a cabin from these people for a month as we closed on our house. We paid them nearly $8k for rent and when we arrived, it was clear that it was a place that someone tried to "put lipstick on a pig." Screws sticking out of the deck DANGEROUSLY. There are metal stakes sticking out of the concrete around the property that are about 2' high, just the right height to impale yourself. Man hole covers unsecured 2' from the parking area in the yard. Nearly every picture fell off the wall when we closed the door, which must've been a known problem because most picture frames only have 3 sides remaining on them. We were charged an EXTRA $500 because their picture fell off the wall, hit a soap dispenser, then broke their pedestal sink that wasn't even secured to the wall.... Stay away!!!! They'll charge you to renovate their quickly degrading property!!!! read more

We vacation annually during the winter holidays in Hocking Hills cabins, and this stay at Rusty Lantern Cabin was by far the worst. One of our favorite parts of these trips is using the hot tub. Upon arrival, we discovered the water was ice cold and the tub would not turn on. We repeatedly had to turn the breaker on so the tub would heat up per instructions from the main office. Half of the jets did not function properly, and the fountain was broken and continuously sprayed water outside the tub onto the deck, therefore we were losing water as well. We requested that a service or repair technician come out to assist, but no one ever responded and with no explanation. When WIFI went down we had no instructions where the box was. Customer service failed to follow up or respond again for the remainder of our stay, making the experience extremely disappointing. I would strongly not recommend this company! read more

We rented a house that was not as described in many ways. Some rooms were above the detached garage which wasn't disclosed. No WiFi in main house as promised. Host provided wrong address for check in multiple time. We actually had to use listing pics to insure we entered the correct home. House was lake front and the porch is collapsing. Broken blinds. Gaps under eatery doors large enough for mosquitoes to fly in under. Host said owner would be by "shortly" at 9:49am 7/8/22 and nobody ever came. read more

We rented the Chalet in October. The online pictures of the rental were about 20 years old. The home and grounds have deteriorated substantially. Any repairs have been done haphazardly. For example, they have hung two lights in the kitchen. The problem is that the cord from one hangs in the sink, and the cord from the other hangs on the stove top. FIRE HAZARD! Pots and pans look like they came out of the trash. All burned, stained and dirty. The fireplace isn't working. The Hiking trails are non-existent except for one. There is trash and old, obsolete barrels, wire, furniture etc dumped in the woods. there is no heat in one of the bedrooms and the bathroom. The gate into the yard is broken, some of the steps in the hours are shakey. The basement shower smells like sewage. I could go on and on. The crew where we picked up the keys were nice, however when some of the issues were reported at check out, they offered us 10% off if we came back. WE AREN'T COMING BACK! DUH! read more

I agree with Jake R. review also! Key was located off premises. Shared driveway. If potentially parked in, you can't leave. Hot tub up against the neighbors window. No access to the woods shown the in picture. Asked to purchase firewood but there was no fire pit. No front door deadbolt. Both doors were hard to lock. Our safety was more important than a refund. They would not refund any money for two nights for the two hours we were there. No privacy with open view from others with areas of no curtains or blinds. We rented the Whitetail cabin for 4 days. It's obvious their pictures in their advertising were taken at least 15 to 20 years ago when the place was much newer. The place seemed kind of run-down and not well taken care of. It advertised a pond for fishing but it was disgusting and covered with green algae. There was a swing set and slide for children but the slide was broken and unusable and the swings looked like they were ready to fall down. All in all the place needed some TLC and maybe a deep cleaning. The basement smelled very musty and moldy and was quite damp. Our next trip we will definitely seek other accommodations. read more

We have rented the Montana cabin. It's stunning. Perched on hill (which could be a challenge in the Winter) overlooking the creek and valley below. Quiet, secluded and relaximg. Nice to sit on the wrap around porch and just relax. It's a reassembled cabin from who knows when, but the did an awesome job. read more

If I could give This business is zero I would! First off, I reserved one of their cabins two weeks prior to my arrival. When I showed up, I couldn't find the office because it was basically in a closet inside of a very dirty corner store. At that point I met with staff and gave them my reservation number, that's when I was told that I was unable to stay in my cabin because it was raining for four days straight and the roads were flooded. I drove 7 hours to get there and No one called me to let me know about the cabin I reserved, and staff admitted they knew about this issue days before my arrival and seemed like he didn't care on why I wasn't notified. I believe they just waited till I got there so they can keep my money and switch me a cabin which in the photos looked like something out of a trailer park! After I refused staying in the new cabin he wanted to put me in, he stated that that was the only one left but he slipped up and mentioned another cabin but he lied and said no one was out to clean it, and it was dirty and continued to try to force me in that trailer park looking cabin. After going back-and-forth for almost an hour, he reluctantly gave me keys to the cabin that he slipped up on mentioning. Once we got to our newly re-inside cabin we noticed that someone definitely cleaned it, which showed that the staff lied about it being dirty so he could put us in the trailer cabin. The cabin itself wasn't too bad until our last day while we were preparing to leave and we found a roach coming from one of the dresser in the room! Please stay away from this company! They only want your money. Customer service is extremely poor! The cabins are very subpar! Don't make the same mistake I did, there's plenty of other cabin companies that give you a better choice and better quality and better customer service! read more

we stayed in cabin 3 at Hocking Hills Canoe Livery - Logan. it was nice, had everything we needed. location was great. we will be staying again next year. the only issue we had was early check in was at 2pm but couldn't get in until 4 even after we went threw all the steps to have an early check in. we ordered fire wood but had to call about it and then had to go to the livery to get the wood instead of it being at the cabin for us. read more

I seriously wish that i could leave NO stars for this stay or even give negative stars. The pictures on their website are VERY misleading. I wouldn't waste your time or your money on this ridiculous "cabin" rental facility. Don't get me wrong, the views are ok, but for almost $300/night you can do SO much better. My family's experience is as follows: My mom rented the cabin for a Christmas getaway- we stayed 12/23 - 12/26. Our family had to drive separate cars due to the amount of things we had; food, luggage, entertainment things, etc.. My sister just recently had foot surgery so we had her extra necessities as well. The car i drove arrived first and i was told, by my mother whose name was on the rental contract/reservation, to go to the office on Canal St and pick up the key. I was greeted by a lady, Jennifer, who took my driver's license, made a copy and gave me the keys to the house. She also asked me how many guests and I told her 5, she stated that the reservation was only set for 3 so an additional $25/person/day would be charged to the card on file. Which was more than likely a miscommunication on their part seeing how everything else goes downhill from here. We drove to the cabin passing disgusting, trash infested trailer homes along the way. We almost thought we were in the wrong place due to the surroundings. Upon arrival to the cabin, the outside was messy with a little trash i.e. cigarette butts from prior renters (no one in our family smokes) and a couple things out by the fire pit. I was able to get in and get my sister situated and settled due to her foot, found her a bedroom on the first level and while checking out the other bedrooms in this cabin- 1 bedroom with one queen sized bed with a window blind held up by a small clamp that you had to re-clamp up if you wanted to let natural light in...because that makes sense and two closets packed full of random things that didn't make sense- so if you wanted to hang up some clothes...forget it. Another (small) bedroom with a queen sized bed and packed along the wall was a bunk bed. This room had a door in it that led out to the front porch by the hot tub. The door had a white sheer panel curtain on it and the long vertical blinds that you should be able to open/close and move left to right...but couldn't because they were falling off of the snaps and cracked and discolored due to the age of them. ALL ROOMS IN THE HOUSE HAD COBWEBS IN THEM as one could obviously tell dusting was not their main priority. The house had 2 tables in it...? One right in the way- pushed up against the wall so one side was not usable and one table in the middle of the kitchen fitting 5 chairs around it but not 6 because one side was too close the window to fit one. The upstairs had 2 other bedrooms- all just as dirty and covered in cobwebs- one room the queen sized bed and the other packed with 2 bunk beds. The bunk beds were so big that there was VERY MINIMAL sitting up room for the person on the top bunk. I could imagine this could be very uncomfortable unless you're 5 years old. Needless to say, this cabin is cannot accommodate more than 3 adults unless you're ok with sharing a bed. The cabin also had a basement which had the washer/dryer and misplaced toys and other people laundry that was left behind...when I say that cleaning and/or tidying up after previous renters was done...believe me. When you pull up to the cabin it appears to have a garage- but after discovering the basement the "garage space" is nothing but storage for random things that appeared to be old utilities or wood-working stuff?...am not sure but all closets/storage space in the cabin had items already in them and couldn't be used. When you pay the amount of money that they charge for the cabin you have expectations and none of them were met...it just severely disappointing. Now, the kitchen held its purpose- nothing more but still less. We were able to use the stove and other items in it- pots and pans, cups (that were also dirty, cracked/chipped in the way that cheap plastic cups from any low quality department store would) and other various items. While getting some items from the kitchen cabinets, that hung loose, one of the cabinet doors broke off into my mom's hand, but you could already tell that an attempt to repair the cabinet door was done, but only for a temporary time and, ultimately, needed to be replaced with a new door. Throughout the house, mainly the kitchen, there were dead bugs that had not been cleaned up. Nasty. The living room, also, had the same white sheer panels over the windows and the long plastic window panels that, again, could not be used as they were cracked, broken and falling off of the windows. The downstairs bathroom was not cleaned as it had dirt/dust or whatever behind the faucet and knobs. Overall, the place was very cluttered with junk, that seemed to be previous renters and filthy.
