I knew my poodle needed some help with as much puppy hair as he has and it's been several months since a cut. I will say the lady Akita was a pleasure to speak with. She should answer everyone's phone for customer service. She was patient with my baby. Because I know he is a lot of work. (He hates being groomed, he just wants to cuddle.) I scheduled an appointment for today and discussed $200 fee and was waiting for them to send me the paperwork to complete. Instead they finally sent a text saying they can't come to my apartment bc they don't have outdoor outlets. I responded immediately saying I have an outdoor outlet outside my own apartment that works and parking spaces in from too. Told them the landscapers use that outlet all the time for blowers, etc. The guys response about 45 minutes later was "I'm sorry ma'am we can't do it" It makes no sense when there's an outdoor outlet. I have been a loyal customer of this grooming salon since 2020. Over the course of 4 days, I called several times to make an appointment and left a courteous message requesting a call back. I am an understanding person and remained decent, as I was raised. After never getting a call back or an answer on the phone, I texted the business line (see first screenshot). Minutes later, the owner messaged me on a personal phone (second and third screenshot). Separate from the owners lack of basic customer service skills, they lack basic decency. This is no way to speak or message anyone. The sarcasm and deficiency of any semblance of class or politeness was shocking. Not to mention the use of the emojis. Your business is nothing without customers. If they would of simply had the respectability to pick up the phone and inquire my needs as a customer, they would've known that I was a loyal customer with a dog well-under 20 lbs. And if they were truly unable to respond by phone, a simple "Good morning", "How can I help you?", or "Sorry for not being able to respond", would have sufficed. Accompanied by a solution such as, offering me a spot on their waitlist or the simplest of all, a callback. 1st Place Dog Groomer will do an ok job of grooming your dog, but God forbid there is any need for them to rise to the occasion of basic customer service skills, they will fail miserably. If you were raised with any semblance of class or have any standards for the businesses you support, this is not for you. I make a point to support my fellow black businesses. Very sad and disappointing to see a black business owner conducting themselves so toxically and at the lowest level of human decency. Congratulations on your business's success, but it's a dog grooming business not a Fortune 500. The egotism is unnecessary. Please do not go and do business with these people, the owners are so unprofessional and they use their workers to do their bidding lies. My twin sister made an appointment with them on Friday and Saturday we got up and made our way over there to their grooming shop, ok we are about 4 minutes away from there and we get a call from one of the sweetest guys that works for them and he tells my sister on speaker phone and he tells her that they have to cancel the appointment because the business is closing for good, and my sister is livid. She was not the only one that in the not know, but there were others too that did not know. The b#%+€ ass owner called today and she was trying to whatever her mouth let out was all lies and then talking about taking money from his pay, trying to make everything his fault, these people have no idea about dog grooming, they just opened a business to make money and get others to work for them. Fantastic service! My two little Yorkies came out just beautiful. They needed full grooming. I moved and they were lodged not at home. When I finally got them back, they needed special care and a special groom. I was treated with dignity bringing them in yesterday. The appointment system was easy, getting them in as soon as possible was made easy. I love 1st Place. The dogs are beautiful!!! They were treated with special care. Kyla and her husband came to my home today and groomed My three munchkins and my grand dog. First of all, let me just start by saying that i called 2 other mobile groomers prior to her. The way Kyla answered the phone and spoke i knew i found a good match for the fellas. She was so upbeat and talked like she loved her job. When they arrived to my home my animals took to them like they have known them forever. They did a beautiful job grooming the fellas and they smelled amazing! I wish I could give them 0 stars. I have a Pumi (rare breed from Hungary) but they obviously did no research on grooming my breed of dog. They said she was completely matted so they shaved her to look like a poodle. However, she is a double coated dog and her undercoat is a dense fur. She wasn't matted. They just didn't do their research! They also expressed her anal glands and damaged them. It has been 4 days since they completely ruined my dog. She has whined and cried consistently since then. She is in pain and can't walk very long without sitting down and trying to lick her bottom. She was a very docile sweet dog. But now she's anxious and upset all the time. She never had any issues before taking her to this place. Also, they quoted me $70 and ended up charging me $90. Now I have to take her to the vet to find out what this joke of a groomer did to my dog. read more

I was quoted '$75 for the cut' when I called for the appointment. When I checked our doodle in, the price became $75 an hour. I was then told it wouldn't take long, two hours at the most. Although my dog was well groomed, I was not aware that I would have my rate increased by $45. This business is misleading. They will charge miscellaneous fees that are not discussed prior to services. I would have no complaints if I was previously informed of the possibility of adding these fees to the total price. $150.00 is what they charged me for a full grooming. This was my second time using their service. The first time I was told the cost was $70.00 but was charged $85.00. Not a big deal because it was comparable to what other groomers in the area charge. Today when we went over the cut I wanted. I was not informed the cost would be nearly double what I paid the first time. I found out the cost was $150.00 at the time of checkout...no opportunity to change my mind at that point. I have NEVER paid $150.00 to have my dog groomed; not at Pet Smart or Cuts for Paws. The cut was not exceptional...no better then any of the aforementioned groomers. And not worth $150.00. I see that others have encountered similar experiences. Hopefully people searching for a groomer will read the reviews; not just the first few. I have been using Kayla services for almost four years. My Maltese was very ill when I first started using her mobile service. She took such good care of our Cailene. I have nothing but praise for her and Tony. Just knowing that they took such special care in grooming her. Since that time Cailene has passed. We now have a Maltese named Precious and I would not use anyone else. I have used both the salon and the mobile grooming and only have positive words for both of them. I am so glad that I found this salon. My Cocker Spaniel has a lot of anxiety and hates to get groomed. I was going to a previous groomer for years but she would literally keep my dog all day and my dog had to be carried into her shop. I read the reviews and decided to take a chance on first place. When leaving a review, it is important to do so in fairness and without emotion. So I will check myself if I feel as I am writing from the heart instead of the mind. But to begin with, we chose 1st Place Dog Grooming based on these very reviews, so it seemed like a no brainer when we made a 9:00 am appointment for our four-year-old dog to receive a summer shave and all of the spa works we would expect from any reputable groomer. Keep in mind, this groomer has strict policies posted in terms of being on time, and picking up your pet within an hour of completion. That is respectable. Thus, we were there fifteen minutes prior to opening to make our 9:00 am appointment. Well, 9:00 rolls around and two cars came speeding into the parking lot for a rushed opening. We were surprised but chalked it up to maybe a rough morning with clocks being set ahead on this day. We brought our pup in and dropped her off, and were told that we would receive a call within the hour for pickup. Three hours passed, and still, no call came in. We called the groomer, who reported that our pup had an "accident" and required a second shampoo. They would need yet another hour. Skeptical based on past experiences not quite matching what we were hearing, we called back and said we would come to get her as is, and we would be there momentarily. While on the phone I could hear our dog screaming as if she was in pain, and I immediately got a bad feeling about what was happening there. When we went in to get her, she was up on a table, shaking, scared, and seemingly getting "groomed" by a woman - but she looked exactly the same as when we dropped her off three hours earlier. - minus the anxiety. Hair length was the same, no evidence that she had even been touched since we dropped her off. We told the woman we were disappointed that she hadn't received the haircut we had ordered. She condescendingly went on to tell us that our dog had pooped herself and needed a second bath. Yet, there was never even a haircut to begin with nor any evidence of a first bath. When we asked why we didn't get a call for an update, the condescending repeating of "as I told you she pooped herself" began. So this was not going to go anywhere. The dog was so anxious to get the heck out of there, and I can't blame her. Luckily, despite the rudeness and unprofessionalism of the woman doing the "grooming", we called the owner who seemed to understand and did not charge us for services not rendered. We made another appointment at Pet Smart, where we should have gone in the first place. In fairness, this is the only negative review of First Place Dog Grooming, but is was our experience and is there for anyone who loves their dog to consider. Ours is still shaking now, an hour later, so I can only imagine what she went through over three hours of a non-grooming appointment. We will not bring any of our pets back there, as saving a few bucks is not worth what our dog or we went through. We wasted three-plus hours on a Sunday for literally zero results, other than gaining some knowledge about what to expect from First Place: Last Place Professionalism, and Last Place care. read more

Unprofessional place of business. I made a same day appointment for my pet to be groomed . Their prices was extremely high compared to other groomers by 30.00 but I wanted the same day appointment. I explained I was coming from work I was told it was fine . When I arrived I was rudely denied service saying other pets had came in before my pet and they could not groom him even though it was 4 hours until they closed. I had to take my pet back home causing me to be late returning to work . I felt like this was unethical that that did not honor this appointment and they had absolutely not NO remorse at all . Beware! Mobile grooming is not reliable. Owner is Very rude and unprofessional! You make an appointment weeks ahead of time and they don't show up. Called her back and told her how unprofessional to not show up. She said "the app bumped the appointment and she would try to get us rescheduled". Told her that was not acceptable. She hung up on me! I won't spend another dime with them. There are other businesses that are considerate and need the business. Wish I could rate them a O. My dog is 3 and I've only ever used PetSmart for grooming. This is my first time at 1st place and they have won me over. My dog wasn't there all day long and he looked better than ever before. I was prepared to write a completely different review than this one, but this place far exceeded my expectations. There was a mix up in registration to begin with. But the woman I spoke with called me & set up an appointment for the next day. I wanted to use the mobile services since my dog is 15 1/2yrs old & doesn't do well in the car. I also live at the opposite end of McDonough, so this would be a 30min drive with an old dog. But they didn't have an opening so I made an appointment at their salon & hoped my poor dog wouldn't get too stressed. So I arrive for my appointment & the doors were locked! Oh NO! I called them & they had no information in their system that I had made an appointment. I was mad that my poor dog made this trip for nothing & now it would mean another 30min in the car! So I get home & the phone rings...it's the woman I spoke to & had scheduled this appointment with. She apologized & said she wanted to make the situation right & boy she was AWESOME! She said she would move around the schedule & groom my dog at my house, using the mobile van, but only charging me for the salon price. Well then, that's what I had wanted originally but oh my, did she do an amazing job! I am thrilled with the outcome & my doggie knows he looks good too! I have attached the picture below.
