I tried the First Street Deli for brunch today. The restaurant is located inside the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Coconut Creek. Although they have a smoking side and a nonsmoking side, it appears that all of the restaurants are located on the smoking side of the casino. If you are a non smoker like I am, you can still smell the smoking inside of the restaurant you eating in. The smell was definitely a turnoff to my eating the meal that I ordered. I ordered the "Breakfast Special ", which included 2 eggs cooked your way, meat (Bacon, ham or sausage),toast or a bagel and your choice of home fried or latkes (potato pancakes). I also ordered coffee and a glass of ice water. The eggs came out the way I ordered them and the bacon was fine. My onion bagel was hard as a rock and they brought me hash browns instead of the latkes I ordered. I had to track the server down to correct that item. The coffee tasted fine, but the ice water had a significantly chemical taste. After the first sip of the water, I never touched it again. My server did not stop by the table to see if everything was okay. I was half way done with my brunch when Venus (the server) finally brought the latkes to me. They were okay, but they had an over salted taste, which I helped dampen with the apple sauce accompanyment. This restaurant is supposed to be named for the First Avenue Deli in New York City. All in all this was not a positive experience. And unless you don't mind the smell of smoke while you are eating, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. read more

The casino had sent me $10 credit but somehow I also must have had other credit so didn't cost me a dime once they swiped my players card. The cashier says come back in 20 mins. I was done gambling so I hung around. There was a stack of orders that came out well before so if you wait the actual 20 your order was probably done 5-10 mins before. I love having lunch here! They bring fresh pickles to the table for you to snack on before you get your meals. They have the best chicken salad sandwiches. We arrived 11:50am and our drinks orders placed and came out asap, we waited till about 12:25pm to see where our order was (2 egg breakfast, toast and potato cakes and a order of buffalo chicken wings) the waiter came over and asked if we wanted to speak to the supervisor and he didn't even want to attempt to make a story, so we said sure, waited for about 5 minutes and they didn't even show up. So we just decided to leave and get food elsewhere. It's a shame, we drove 30 minutes from Aventura FL to get here for some fun a lunch. All we got was a waste of time. There seems to be a communication issue with management at this deli inside the hard rock and when the management team doesn't even come out, you know you got a team that's afraid to approach their guests and solve the opportunity. This time we had not such a good experience. It was a little crowded a Saturday night around 8:00pm. Service was slow we waited about 20 minutes to sit and eat. Our food came out I ordered a lox platter and it was fresh and delicious. My husband ordered an egg omelet with bacon and cheese it was absolutely disgusting. It was spongy and DRY when my husband flipped it over to open it up it was all burnt. They tried to cover it up with the cheese. It took forever for the waiter to come back and I requested to speak with the manager and he wanted to give him 1/2 off the egg meal because my husband ate his bagel. He was starving and nobody was to be found to speak about the situation. I was not looking for a free meal just an edible one. This is not the way to treat a customer. This is gonna sound like the craziest thing, but the matzoh ball soup here is almost as good as homemade. If you can get past the fact that it's in a casino, you can have a delicious, genuine, Jewish deli experience! The soup is not too salty and the matzoh balls are just the right size. Their Reuben sandwich is perfect. Sometimes it does take a little bit longer to get your food but it's well worth the wait. I would stay away from the bagels as they are not that great. You would think they would want you to eat quickly and go out and gamble to give the casino more money. But not at this place. Our server was really nice but I never got her name. It was pretty empty when we ate an early dinner. We started with their complimentary pickles and sour tomatoes. They were great. I ordered their lox platter minus the hard boiled egg. They gave a lot of high quality lox. I have bought lox and bagel and all the toppings to make at home and no package of nova lox I have bought gives as much lox as this restaurant gave. I even took some home. Their potato latkes were very, very good. They come with apple sauce and sour cream. Huge portion overall. My daughter ordered the corned beef sandwich. I had a couple bites and would say it is fair. It wasn't bad but wasn't great either. She ordered fries with it and those were very good. I would come back here when in the area and order their lox platter again. They supply you with a mask if you don't have one, there are hand santizer dispensers EVERYWHERE, plus they have a visible clean team! This team is dedicated to walking around constantly wiping all slots, table games and all bathrooms are sanitized every 30 mins. Anyways, this morning I ordered the lox platter. Sliced Ducktrap River Nova Lox, a hard boiled egg, cream cheese sliced tomato, red onion and an everything bagel. DELICIOUS!!! They make their own bagels on the premises and I had a Dr. Browns Cream Soda to drink. Simply a great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner...it's a true delicatessen! Our initial experience at 1st Street Deli was quite negative. We arrived and requested a booth we saw available. The hostess quickly turned around and addressed another customer right behind us and immediately took them to that empty booth. When she returned I politely asked her why we weren't seated as we arrived before them and in quite a snotty tone, said "they're black card holders." Nothing like an introduction to a deli with a class system! After 15 or so minutes we were finally seated. The waitress was courteous, friendly, and quick, and the place appeared well maintained. My open turkey sandwich was absolutely N.Y. delicious as was their corned beef. Really like the open-kitchen concept too. Prices are very comparable to other delis which surprised me as I thought casinos, whose primary source of income is gambling would encourage possible gamblers to their casino by offering lower priced food, but no, this is just another of their profit centers. No worries, we ate a great lunch, but left the casino immediately after. Might have stayed and played had we felt, wanted. We'll return again for their food for sure. Came here for a late dinner with my hubby. While we were in Florida, we found this restaurant that was open late. It is actually located in a casino and is very large. They serve food from sandwiches to full meals. My hubby and I decided to share a meal and here is what we had: First off, they give you a choice of pickles to go with your meal. Now I love pickles but this was kinda weird. Our waitress said some people ask for at least 2 each, so that is what we got. Oh they were so crunchy, and delish, we finished ours before our meals came. Cup of tomato bisque: perfectly balanced, not too salty, not bland and not to tomatoey ( I know it's not a word). Surf and turf: steak with roasted rosemary potatoes and steamed veggies. The steak was a little over cooked on the edges but the middle part was good. The potatoes were yummy and so with the steamed veggies. They didn't come out soggy. If we go back, we will definitely done here again. I would recommend it if you are in the area. read more
