First, best bar in Peoria for cocktails. And if you get there and the farm table is open (first come, first serve) it's pretty fantastic. Todd, the owner, built it himself and it's a great place to hang. While it's a bit off the beaten path, 2Chez is - year after year - a predictable winner. We have now been going here for special occasions from Springfield for five years from my first review. We also love to have Frank wait on us. He's great! I had the calamari tonight and it was great. Another reviewer mentioned it wasn't in strips and crispy. The waiter said they get a larger pieces of calamari so it's not the little pieces. So other places might give you crispy little strips but this is better quality. Parmesan on the outside and lightly crisp. The oysters were from Maine which the chef said are different from southern oysters. The sauce was homemade and delicious with it. The pork Marsala reduction sauce was excellent. To top it off we had creme brûlée and chocolate mousse. There were too many amazing ones to just pick two! read more

Went in for a family dinner Thanksgiving Saturday with my college-aged kids and my mom. We had a reservation, and were seated promptly. Because this is an update, I'm not going to write a lot, but suffice it to say that our meals were delicious (once they got my steak cooked correctly to medium rare, not well done) and we were pleased overall with the experience. The one-star loss is on the service side. Our server seemed a bit overwhelmed by the busy evening and didn't check back for drinks, etc. as frequently as she should have. What a great surprise it was to have an early dinner at 2 Chez last Friday evening! The ambiance was wonderful, as was the service. We had Calamari for appetizer, and it was delightful, not tough, but tender and flavorful. My partner had Pork Chop Marsala, which he thoroughly enjoyed. I had a half rack of Lamb, and it too was wonderful. We will be returning for another dinner in the future, I am certain. read more

First time visiting 2 Chez. Recently moved to Illinois and we have been searching for a five-star restaurant and finally found one. From the food to the ambience and service five stars. We happen to go on a Thursday evening which they had a jazz trio playing. They were excellent and added to the evening, wish we could give six stars. Even the chef owner comes out to greet people at their tables. Our waiter Frank couldn't have been better. Also if you're looking for somewhere to just pop in for drinks the bar is absolutely beautiful. Warm cozy feeling throughout the place with beautiful lighting. I would love to go on and on about this place and what a wonderful evening we had. I'll just say if you have not been here put it on the top of your list. Wow! What a find. Unassuming from the outside, a pleasant surprise inside. Decorated with old musical instruments and black and white photos on walls, it is a small, low light, warm place. Not noisy. Soft music, you can talk and hear. Very nice. Our server was excellent. You can bring wine and there was no cork fee. Calamari was wonderful as were the salads. I had the ribeye special Lyonnaise potatoes. Excellent. The desserts are great. Bread pudding. Superb tiramisu. Very reasonably priced as well! read more

Four years later and still a huge fan! Stuffed artichokes are still knocking it out of the park but the new star here here is the bartender creating amazing craft cocktails. Not sure if we have missed this part previously by sticking to wine but tell him your spirit of choice and what flavor you normally go for and he will whip up something you have never tasted. His "smoked glass" drinks are super cool to watch being made and taste amazing too. We were looking forwarded to trying 2 Chez as we heard great things; however, we were not able to enjoy the food due to not even being spoke to after we sat at the table. We had reservations but didn't need them as there were numerous tables open when we arrived. Upon being seated we were given bread and water approximately 10 mins in by the passing gentlemen who sat us. That was the last time any staff had any contact with us. We sat for a total of 30 mins before we decided to leave. In that time two tables were sat and attended to for drinks and apps. This is the first time I have ever just left a restaurant. Everyone else seemed to be enjoying themselves so we were super disappointed but we were able to have a nice meal somewhere else. I'll probably give it another try as I believe this isn't the norm but felt I had to post something about the situation. read more

Been to 2Chez several times because I enjoy the food and specialty cocktails. It's always packed and reservations are probably a good idea even on a weekday but most certainly on weekends. They have live music a few days a week which is a delight. The acoustics are a problem if there is a big group in the restaurant making ambient noise very loud. But the food and ambience are so good that they often balance out the noise. read more

Two main take-aways from 2 Chez: For the quality and portion size, this place is a steal Are we in Peoria? Anyway, did I mention portion size?? Wow! I ordered the seared ahi tuna and was a bit worried that it might not be enough...upon asking the server how much she wasn't sure but said "a good sized portion/would be enough"...k, well as a server you might want to be a bit more specific but she was excellent overall so whateves...and she was right, it was way more than enough. I'm gonna say at minimum 12 oz, maybe more. It came with some sauteed veggies and a side (PLUS soup or salad!)...normally this would be a la carte with a place of this caliber in Chicago but not here. Refreshing change. We had a group of eight and for the most part everyone was satisfied with what they ordered. A few dishes were very rich but outside of that no complaints. The atmosphere was very dark and clubby but for some odd reason it was really loud, you almost expect a subdued noise level but we found it hard to hear each other bc the acoustics were not muted....again, small detail but worth a mention. If you live in and around P-town (or are visiting) I would highly recommend this place for a quality/locally sourced meal that is priced right. We planned a surprise for our mothers 55th birthday and 2 Chez went above and beyond our expectations. We've been back several times since then. The owner Todd, made every attempt to stay within our budget (500.00) for our party of ten. Food, apps, drinks and tip. The meal was incredible!!!! Several people ordered the steak with mushrooms, brown sauce, veggies and potatoes. We had a personalized menu, with3 entree choices and several apps to pass around. Todd even let us come in and sample everything first. Stand out service and exceptional food! Great experience and the cream of the crop dining in Peoria. I'm in Peoria with co-workers overnight on a business trip and found this gem on Yelp. If you see an herb garden in a vintage bathtub, you've arrived at your destination! Love the decor and ambiance which is old school meets taxidermy so there's lots to catch your eye and make you wonder about history and "wth is that?". But you're here to discover the food and drinks which are oh.so.good. I ordered the chicken bordeaux and the sauce made me hum while eating (mmm mmmm). Paired with the Malbac wine and I'm a happy camper. I highly recommend the house dressing with tomato and basil for your salad. To finish the meal, we had vanilla bean creme brulee. I think I clapped when I saw the torch (someone's easily amused) and the server browned the sugar while at the table. The smell of caramel was in the air and I'm in heaven. Went to 2 chez on Valentine's Day for a few drinks. We peaked in and thought maybe they were too busy as the house was full and we almost left. My wife insisted that because we made the trip we were at least going to have a drink. We went in and had a seat at the bar. The manager served us, even though it was busy, he was friendly and made us very comfortable. I was very happy to see, without asking, he poured my beer for me and gave me a glass of water as well. The environment was very comfortable and the music set a light happy mood. The manager was tending the bar and kept us all entertained and our glasses full. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere, good drinks, good conversation, and a very friendly staff. Had a great Bartender (Costas?) who was running yet did a great job keeping everyone happy and welcome. Then had Jeff as a server. Great guy. Just the right level of attentive without crowding. Menu is interesting with both traditional and not so traditional items. We ordered based on Jeff's recommendations and were not disappointed. Started with calamari which was wonderfully lightly battered and fresh. We also ate a couple pieces of bread with the amazing butter they serve with it. My fiancé had the seafood and linguine and I had Bleu Steak. Both were amazing. Great taste and presentation. My only knock on the place is it's a bit tight and loud. The menu has awesome options to select from. I had the steak bleu it was cooked perfectly (which is always hard to find a place that does this) and the sauce was just delicious. My order included a soup which was a kind of veggie soup full of flavor. I also ordered a rioja glass of wine, but selecrionwasn't that good. It didn't work for me. I'll have to go back and try their other wine selections and their tapas menu served at the bar. It is definetly worth it and so far the best dinner I had in Peoria. read more

Stopped here while visiting Peoria and was impressed. The ambiance is classy without being too fancy, and the drink menu has a great selection. It seems weird to say this but my only gripe about the place is that their portion sizes are actually a bit too big in my opinion. I got the seared ahi tuna and they came out with what I estimate to be a ~12 oz tuna steak. Crazy! I would have considered half of that portion to still be on the large side. Not to mention it also came with bread, soup/salad, and a couple of sides to round out the dish. As far as complaints go, that's certainly not a bad complaint to have.
