Stopped here while visiting Peoria and was impressed. The ambiance is classy without being too fancy, and the drink menu has a great selection. It seems weird to say this but my only gripe about the place is that their portion sizes are actually a bit too big in my opinion. I got the seared ahi tuna and they came out with what I estimate to be a ~12 oz tuna steak. Crazy! I would have considered half of that portion to still be on the large side. Not to mention it also came with bread, soup/salad, and a couple of sides to round out the dish. As far as complaints go, that's certainly not a bad complaint to have. Definitely if you're in the area, go grab a craft beer and enjoy the ambiance. read more

My Wife and I joined our neighbors for a delightful dinner at 2Chez. My Wife ordered the Salmon and I ordered the Tuna. She exclaimed that it was the Best Salmon she's had in years. The Maple Sweet Potatoes were delicious, not too sweet, the veggies, perfectly done. The salad was fresh and delicious. I had House dressing on my salad, it was fresh and tasty, The generous portion of Tuna arrived looking like a double serving of cheesecake - beautifully displayed, done to perfection. The decor is fun but hard to describe in a word--old typewriters, portraits of presidents, buffalo head, etc. The price is reasonable. The service is good. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile now. Somehow we keep missing it, maybe since it's in a strip mall or the name doesn't quite stick Touche'... anyway, we finally tried it. The atmosphere is awesome! Right up my alley. Dark, secretive, romantic, hidden. With a dark wood bar on the other side. Cool bathrooms with an old typewriter...you wanna write a letter while on the shitter? Whatever....it works. I dig it. However, -2 stars for the oh so boring food. It was decent, some may even say good....but sooooooo insipid. Like the chefs are too scared to venture to the dark side, or actually just off the beaten path, to really make this place stand out. I had the rack of lamb and it was almost exactly the way I make it at home. I'm not going out to a fancy restaurant to eat the stuff I make at home. No ma'am. The veggies that came with it...well they were the same veggies I pull out of the frozen bag and boil when I'm on a diet. Come on! Where's the flavor?! The garlic mashed potatoes were good. My husband's steak was cooked perfectly and you can get away with making steak taste like any other steak, so we'll let that slide. The table-side, fire blazing of our creme brulee was a nice touch and our server was awesome, friendly and fast! I'll give this place one more try but you gotta pump up some of that flavor. There just aren't that many really good chef owned restaurants in Central IL. Running to Chicago for a meal isn't always reasonable. I am sooo happy a friend recommended 2 Chez! When we pulled into the strip mall by the nail salon and the Chinese take out, we weren't sure what we had made the 45 minute drive for... then we walked thru the door and were transported to an unexpected dining experience. We started with the Burratta. I have no idea where the chef found tomatoes so sweet and slightly acidic. The pesto may have been the highlight of the meal. Then we tried the spinach soup and the salad with the house dressing. All dressings are made on site and the house dressing has a complex, fresh taste. The soup was enjoyable, but may have benefited from a little creme fraîche on top to cut the rich flavor. We enjoyed the pork chop and steak Diane, although the Marsala sauce and Demi glaze had very similar flavors. We wanted to try the highly recommended bread pudding, but just couldn't do another rich dish. This worked in our favor as we ordered the pana cotta. One of the best places in central Illinois, this is a hidden gem. The filet is awesome, as is every wonderful dish on the menu - which does change a bit. You can feel the effort put into creating a great experience overall. We've visited 7 out of the previous 10 weeks and the only disappointment is that no one seems to recognize that we are repeat patrons. Doesn't matter that much - the experience is always great. Throughout the COVID phase the "patio" was extended into the parking lot, weatherproof curtains hung, leaving the top open for the required airflow, and multiple patio heaters kept things warm and cozy no matter how bad the weather was. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE- I grew up in Peoria and went to 2 Chez for years. I moved away from Peoria for about 8 years and returned last month. I was so looking forward to going to my favorite Peoria restaurant again and wanted to order the Corsican. We made a reservation for outside Sep 15 2021. When we arrived we noticed that a large party of about 15 people were seating on the patio taking up the whole space. The host said that the party agreed to have a few people leave when we arrived, so we could get our table. We were obviously not going to split the group up, so we asked if we could sit at the bar or another indoor table. Unfortunately there was nothing open so we left. It was very uncomfortable and upsetting. My mom was in town and was looking forward to 2 Chez as well. She stated in all of her years going there she never felt discarded like that from restaurant staff. I do not normally post reviews but am hoping management sees this, so they can use this example as a training opportunity. read more

A hidden gem! We came here with a large group (14) all visiting from out of town for a convention. First of all, the owner (Todd) was so pleasant and accommodating as our group reservation grew from 12 to 13 and then to 14. We were seated promptly upon our arrival. Our servers Jess and Jessica offered wonderful guidance as members of our group made selections from the menu. We ordered a few appetizers to share plus entrees and a few desserts. No one was disappointed with their selection. The menu has a wide variety of meat choices as well as preparations. All house-made dressings for the salads and fresh ingredients! Remarkable find in Peoria while visiting family and needed a getaway from the Senior living environment. Sat at crowded bar and was shocked at the 'bar only' menu so now see why it was crowded. Met with 2Chez patron Jeff at bar that gave strong suggestment of trying the Black and blue Bacon burger that's only served on bar menu. WOW!! This dude knows his stuff and says he orders it every time he's there that appears to be weekly. Great vibe and can see that staff works well together. Bartender mixologist and former chef (Costa) is the best I've observed in several months and I hit Clubs in Chicago and NYC. His barback Dustin is truly a sidekick that's part of the experience. Try Costa's concoction Whiskey Smash where he starts by coating the snifter with Rosemary smoke and creates his own Jameson based beauty. Took a risk and got the stuffed artichokes, they weren't for us. Was beginning to worry since it was our first time here. The chef sent us their best selling Bruschetta on the house and it was AMAZING. Way to use customer service to turn around a negative experience into a positive. Salad was excellent and varied. Proceeded onto one of the best main courses and desserts I've ever had. The Filet was a 10 ounce cut, cooked perfectly, and definitely a better grade of meat than Lonestar or Texas Roadhouse, it could have been cut without a knife. My Chilean Sea Bass was mouth watering. The ambiance is good, above average, the staff are superb, the bar menus, while different from the table menus, is simply phenomenal. If I could give the place 6 stars I would. Sit at the bar, eat dinner, you'll come across some of the most interesting people from peoria and from outside peoria. FIRST AND LAST TIME I'LL BE DINING HERE. My party & I had a 7:00 reservation this past Friday. The restaurant was busy, but there's only 12-15 tables in the entire place, so not unmanageable by any means even if they were at capacity, in my opinion. I'll leave most of the knit picky things out (salads were ordered with dressing on the side, but didn't end up coming on the side...our server didn't know how to properly poor wine, etc.) because that was NOTHING compared to the rest of our night. We put in our entree orders at 7:20 and by 8:15 our food still hadn't arrived. When we asked our server the status of our food, she just said the kitchen was backed up and gave us a really lackluster apology. She came back around 10 minutes later and asked us if everything was okay, and obviously it wasn't, because by 8:30 our food still wasn't ready! At this point, why wasn't management running interference and/or offering anything complimentary?! Maybe I'd be a little more empathetic if someone told me they were short staffed or something, but we weren't communicated anything! We began to look around the restaurant and realized other patrons were becoming increasingly frustrated because their food hadn't come out either yet. Mind you, some of these tables were seated before us. We noticed tables start to get up and leave (I obviously didn't blame them). One gentleman even stormed back to the kitchen to see what was going on with his food because it was taking THAT LONG! Finally, after being seated for almost 2 hours our food arrived. We didn't order anything complicated either - our order consisted of salmon, trout & a filet. NO ONE in the restaurant was apologetic and could explain what the delay was and NOTHING was done for the inconvenience. In fact, when we did ask to speak to management, the owner and one of the managers came out and were extremely HOSTILE towards us, VERY defensive and told us to leave!!! Instead of apologizing profusely, they accused us of sharing our experience with the surrounding tables, which was NOT the case. We just so happen to be talking amongst the other tables because we were all wondering what the heck was going on! I have NEVER been treated so incredibly rude and insulted by a restaurant. For an establishment that's supposed to "provide a service", there was ZERO customer service given at this place. Diner beware. read more

We went to 2 Chez for a nice family dinner and it was great. We had a Pinot Noir that was fantastic. I had the Steak Diane, medium rare, and it was awesome- perfectly cooked, tender, and juicy! Seasonal vegetables were really good in the sauce too. We decided to drive the 50 miles to try 2 Chez for our 48th wedding anniversary dinner. It was WELL worth it. While the exterior doesn't look like much, the restaurant is cozy with an eclectic mix of music playing in the background and the menu offers a lot of great choices. We started with the Bruschetta and a glass of Klinker Brick Rose wine. Both were first class. I tried the Henderson (12 oz ribeye) which came piled with pomme frites (fries) and my wife had the Corsican seafood -- shrimp calamari and scallop dish with pasta. We both enjoyed salads beforehand with their bread. After dinner we decided to try the owner's newly made berry peach pie a la mode. Live music some nights and one evening a week (I believe Wednesday) you can bring your own wine in at no charge to have with your meal. Highly recommended. Great place for dinner. High quality food and very consistent from my experience. Also the menu is pretty diverse and everything I've gotten here is good (been about 5 times over 2 years). Only reason I can't give 5 stars is that the decor and atmosphere needs updating...and for some reason the place tends to attract the 50+ crowd. Not a big issue I guess, but this isn't the hippest of places to eat in Peoria. So if you're bringing a date, keep that in mind. It can get a little loud sometimes too on weekend evenings...not much privacy afforded since tables are pretty close together. read more

After five months of raising our newborn son, my wife and I finally decided to go out to eat by ourselves. We've always wanted to try 2 Chez, and it was nice since it was not to far from our apartment complex if we needed to get home quickly. It is located in a strip mall, but don't be fooled, this is really a nice, fine dining experience. I made a reservation earlier in the day, but we had arrived around 7:00pm and there were quite a few tables open so we really didn't need one. I'm not sure when their busy times would be, but there aren't a lot of tables so a reservation wouldn't hurt.. After waiting a couple minutes to be seated, we were given menus and greeted by our server. He took our drink orders and gave us some yummy warm bread with what I think was a sun-dried tomato spread, super delicious! (We had 2 loaves) My wife ordered a nice glass of Riesling and I had a Miller Lite (in a fancy glass too.) We also ordered the calamari, which they claim to be the best in Peoria. Now I cannot say that it is because I've only had it at their restaurant, but it was damn good! You got bite sized chunks of lightly battered calamari, and a yummy remoulade. Honestly, I could've eaten it plain because the batter had a great taste to it, but dipping it in the remoulade was so good! After finishing off our appetizer, we got our salads. It was a small salad, but it hit the spot and was a nice precursor to our main course. I ordered it with bleu cheese and my wife got it with the house dressing. Shortly after, our entrées came out and I was in heaven! I had ordered the Filet Medallions in bleu which was 2 filets in an applewood bacon bleu cheese sauce garnished with spinach and cherry tomatoes. I don't even like tomatoes, but filet mignon, and bacon, and bleu cheese...thank you very much...AWESOME. It was fantastic, and my side of garlic mashed potatoes was good as well. My wife had the Corsican, which consisted of mussels, shrimp, scallops, and more, in a white wine sauce over linguine. She like hers too, obviously not as much as me, but I love steak, especially when it's done right. All in all, we were stuffed and dessert wasn't something we had room for. Before tip it was a little over $90, and I would say it was well spent. While the service was a little slow, due to there being only 2 servers, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fine dining experience in Peoria. read more
