She's also super easy to work with and made the inquiring and signing process easy. We actually signed the lease without viewing in person so that says a lot about the great impression we had of the apartment complex! We can only speak for our unit, but it was clean, spacious, renovated, and had more than enough space for 2 people. Good location, would recommend to friends and family. We were quite sad to leave!

I believe one of the most striking features of these apartments is the square footage you get for the price. You would be hard pressed to find a 1-bedroom between 700-950 square feet for less than what is charged here on the peninsula or in this area, ask me how I know!! The units also have ample closet space (my 1 bedroom has FOUR closets (not even including the kitchen storage) and a large lockable carport storage box. In addition, the kitchens here are huge with more storage space than you'll know what to do with (usually apartments at this price range have the opposite problem). The community is also well maintained with great landscaping + the entire community received a fresh coat of paint in the summer and fall of '23. Maintenance requests are also a breeze and anything you request gets taken care of relatively quickly! The cherry on top is definitely the management. Jennifer, Ane, and Kelly are extremely responsive to all questions and problems we have, not to mention accommodating and understanding when it comes to getting other things worked out. They are the best! My only complaint is that there is no W/D in most of the units, but for the price that is not surprising! Echoing what I said above, you are not finding a unit with W/D with this square footage in this area for less than $2,500 unless your mom's friend's cousin cuts you a deal on their second property . Anyway, big takeaways are that the units here are huge, the community is well maintained, and the management is fantastic. Save yourself some time and check this place out! PS, for the cat lovers out there, they only charge a one time $1,000 per deposit for the entire time you live there (for up to two cats). In my apartment search I saw no other place that does this, usually you have to pay $50-$100 extra per pet per month. Yes it hurts up front, but it saves you a ton of money in the long run! When I had to break my lease, Prometheus explicitly refused to provide me with the future listing price of my unit before forcing me to execute an amendment--intentionally withholding material data required to make an informed decision. Worse, rather than making a good-faith effort to limit vacancy (as required under California Civil Code § 1951.2), Prometheus used my early departure to engage in speculative profit-seeking. I possess time-stamped screenshots documenting that they repeatedly hiked the rent on my vacant unit over a $350 span ($3,602 - $3,789 - $3,815 - $3,874) until finally renting it at $3,955. They artificially prolonged the vacancy to maximize corporate gain while holding my funds hostage. When confronted with this exact timeline, corporate representative Aaron Oppenheimer completely stonewalled, issuing a dismissive response refusing to provide a full accounting of the unit's transition or negotiate a fair resolution. California courts look past corporate labels to economic reality. Because Prometheus prefers corporate greed over legally mandated good-faith mitigation, I am now forced to resolve this by filing a formal complaint/claim. Renters beware: if you ever need flexibility, Prometheus will use an information blackout to engineer a windfall at your expense.

Communication with the leasing agents have also been very good with quick response time, especially with Samuel Vazquez. Clubhouse is always clean and kept in order. There never seemed to be any big miscommunication issues between different teams at Shadow Cove. One caveat would be noise from upstairs tenants at 7AM, but earplugs and both Samuel and Freddie helped communicate between me and the upstairs tenants to quiet down.

Now I will keep this as short as I possibly can, even though there is so much to say about this place. Read other reviews for confirmation as well. Pictures are also posted. I was a tenant at Shadow cove from Jan 2023 - May 2024. Here are some truths and things they will not tell you. NOISE. There is always loud noise. From construction to yard maintenance. There is always something. They also had to do construction on at least 3 or more units connected to my unit or are around me. Noise just does not stop here. THIN WALLS. You can hear muffled conversations from other units. Sneezing and definitely snoring as well. PARKING. You only get 1 space so don't believe them when they tell you that there will be "plenty" of parking spaces available on the street. You will find yourself walking a few blocks away from the whole complex every time. Then there's the additional walk to where your unit will be. FLOODING. I suggest checking out this place on rainy season, if possible, as it floods very bad here. Also, walk around the complex and you will see sand bags in front of some of the doors on lower level units. Even if you take the upstairs unit, there is plenty of low spots that water can accumulate throughout the complex where you have to walk through. Some have it worse where it accumulates right in front of their doors. WATER SHUT OFFS. Expect plenty of them by hours at a time. INTERIOR. Don't let the fancy look fool you. Its just a cover up. Washer/Dryer is small. Dishwasher barely works due to circuit breaker keeps popping. Kitchen sink gets clogged. Had to replace the fridge while I was there due to leaking. Washer started leaking the first weeks of moving in. Bathtub is just an insert or one big cover so you will quickly see mold growing out of seams and sealants. DEPOSIT!! They will keep your deposit and charge you cleaning and steaming fee. They will claim as if prior to moving in was clean and spotless when it was not, as you can see in the pictures provided. Then make you responsible for the cleaning fees when moving out. I have been a good and patient tenant there. I Did not disturb anyone. No noise complaint from me, even though I am always the one that gets bothered. Kept the place clean and even left the place just as clean moving out. They will still find a way to keep your deposit through a cleaning+steaming fee and an additional rent fee( which was fully paid before moving out) Definitely something wrong here. If you have read this far, just know that THERE IS A REASON WHY THIS PLACE HAS VERY BAD REVIEWS and a lot of vacant units. Just walk away and avoid the headaches. There are plenty of "better" choices all throughout Foster City/San Mateo area. Surround yourself and your life with positive people and places. Not desperate people and companies that they run. Even if I could stay at Ryan Tower for a year for free, I'm not sure that I would. I want to document our experience so that it may help you in your decision-making. Our problem started from the beginning due to management's overpromising / misrepresentation. The apartment we got was in extremely poor conditions -- in sharp contrast to the photos/videos we received from management via email. We had to delay our move-in by almost a month while they worked to get another unit ready. We scrambled to find temporary housing solutions and storage space for our furniture . After moving in, the building has persisting plumbing issues. The toilet in our guest room constantly leaked waste water. It was disgusting. The maintenance crew came no less than 4 times and the issue was never resolved. We also had a leak from the ceiling that was never fixed -- after a few hours of heavy rain, water started leaking through the walls and from the ceiling of the bedroom. The maintenance team came to seal the ceiling with tapes, promising to return to fix the issue. They never did, and we had to remove the tapes ourselves after the rain stopped. Other reviews mentioned construction noise, which is also our experience. Any time there's construction on the same or adjacent floors, the noise makes it difficult to take work calls at home. The nightmare did not end after we moved out. We installed some paintings on the wall, and I suggested to management that we'd pay for a handyman to patch up the holes and get a professional cleaner to do the move-out cleaning. They assured me that it's cheaper to deduct the charges from our security deposits. Busy with our move, I returned the key to let Ryan Tower handle the cleaning. One month later, I got a call from a debt collection agency notifying me that we owe Ryan Tower money and our credit scores will be impacted. We received NO communication -- via email or mail -- from Ryan Tower. In fact, I was expecting my residual deposits to be returned to me, not to be charged an additional amount that become "uncollectible debt" that will drastically reduce our credit scores. Needlessly to say, this will set our home ownership plan back by years in an already difficult market in the Bay Area. Why did we put up with Ryan Tower for a year despite the terrible experience along the way? Honestly, I think we were just too naively trusting. We thought each problem was the last problem we'd face, and they were isolated events. But they are connected and point to the same root causes -- an old building with persisting issues that can't be fixed (without a complete redo), a management team focused on selling (window-dressing) rather than helping, and a transactional / zero-sum mentality. We said hi to the building manager and facility team every time we saw them. Being nice & considerate tenants who always paid a few days early earned us no brownie points. For how much this place charges for rent, the owners could easily do PERMANENT repairs instead of slapping a bandaid on it and causing constant inconveniences for its tenants on a weekly basis. You cannot classify yourself as "luxury apartments" with a rotting water system. Ownership, do the right thing and take care of this place. Oh and with the the remodeling of apartments -- if the noise (which is extremely loud making it impossible to work from home) affects any of the neighboring tenants, do the right thing and offer a discount on that months rent. We had construction going on for weeks and you can't even hear each other talk yet alone work. Again, the team working here is fantastic.
