We had Fat Guys grilled cheese at the Fountain Hills St. Patrick's Day Festival on March 14. We waited about 15 minutes in line just to order and another 25 minutes to receive our food. By that point, we were really looking forward to a premium "food truck" grilled cheese--especially since that's their specialty. Unfortunately, what we received was very disappointing. The sandwich looked like it had just one slice of Kraft American cheese thrown onto the bread, along with bacon that wasn't fully cooked. It was something I could have easily made at home. The price? The service was incredibly friendly and food was served up quickly. The crunch on the bread easily made this the best grilled cheese I've had from any food establishment. I'm definitely a grilled cheese snob, and they hit the mark! Love the mobile aspect of this as I was able to enjoy at the newly added park in Apache Junction on a beautiful November day. These guys came for our Christmas party in our community. They have a lot of different options -- there really is something for everybody! I ordered the Buffalo chicken and it was delicious. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and ranch (I believe) and enjoyed it. The bread was nicely toasted and had a decent amount of Buffalo chicken. For my sandwich, you have a choice between ranch or blue cheese for dipping. Overall, great experience and great food! read more

Be warned and be careful about food poisoning! We went to the children's museum during the Sand Fest on a Saturday and went to this truck for lunch. It is a 90+ hot day! My kids shared a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon from 2 Fat Guys. During our travel, we ate the same things except the grilled cheese with bacon. Both of my kids started having stomach pain, diarrhea, puking, and having symptoms of food poisoning the night of! There is no any other foods they have shared except this poisoning grilled cheese sandwich with bacon. I was wondering why my daughter was picking something off her sandwich and now it might just make sense. This is the only thing my husband and I didn't eat during our trip! My 8 year old daughter later said the sandwich tasted a little weird when I asked her about it when both my son and daughter started to get sick. This totally ruined our vacation to Phoenix as this is the second day of our trip and my husband and I are stuck in an Airbnb with two sick kids for couple of days now which is the worse thing a family could have experienced during a vacation. I was lucky enough to finally try this food truck at an Easter Egg Hunt and celebration this past weekend in Vistancia. My husband has had this truck numerous times and loved it each time. I can totally see why. Not only were the guys running the truck friendly and nice, but the food was amazing. I opted to try the Cuban, my husband got the Polish and we got the traditional for my girls. I made a point to try all three and they were all amazing. My favorite was the Cuban though hands down. Got food here after attending the Strange Garden event at the Desert Botanical Garden. $14 for a grilled cheese with raw bacon was not ideal for the night. Also asked for a Fanta and the guy said they were out of Fanta. Another person ordered a few after me and they ordered and received a Fanta. Not sure what that was about because I was specifically told they were out. Topping station for the burgers were uncovered and flies kept landing on it because there were no lids. Also, the chips that came with the food expired back in September (I attended this event in October) so who knows what the dates were for the actual food. Let's hope I don't get sick from this. My work in Tempe does food trucks every Thursday and this was the first time I've tried 2 Fat Guys. I had my eye on "the king of clubs" and I must say it's delicious. Cheddar cheese, ham, bacon, and sliced pickles. With a side choice of: chips, macaroni salad, or potato salad. I chose macaroni salad. The food itself is great; a greasy grilled cheese the way it should be. And the service was great, the guys running the truck were engaging and funny. My grilled cheese and macaroni salad ran me $10. Good thing my office has drinks. Overall, I would recommend this truck if you get the opportunity. And I hope they come back. read more

Ordered a classic supreme at 4th of July in Fountain Hills. CONS: They told me it would take 35 min AFTER I had placed my order. In fact, it took 50 min. I understand they were swamped, but definitely a disappointment nonetheless. They ran out of all sides except one flavor of chips. They were not good chips. That's all I have to say on that. The grilled cheese (itself) was nothing exceptional. It was fine. Not particularly cheesy, flavorful, or even warm for that matter. Very anticlimactic end to my 50 min wait. Hope they improve!! I found this gem of a truck at First Friday. The grilled cheese with bacon was so perfectly cheesey and well toasted, not too dark, not too light and perfectly crispy yet soft! We took our grandkids to the 7th Avenue Melrose festival - our youngest age 5 wanted a grill cheese. I have never purchased from this food truck before - after I paid $8 for a classic grilled cheese - just as it sounds cheese and bread - he said it would be 20 minutes. Rick did a fantastic job for my wife's 30th birthday party! When I first contacted Rick to discuss the menu, I was a little apprehensive because I thought we would only have a few options. Well, I was wrong, as he said we would have a full menu to choose from and the food was awesome! I was very excited about this food truck because it has AMAZING reviews on here, however I was disappointed when I actually got to try the food. It wasn't bad by any means, but it was not extraordinary. I ordered the "Classic Supreme" which sounded amazing...it was very average. Everyone on the truck was really nice though...I experienced excellent service! Which can be quite rare these days! I would definitely give these guys another try, simply due to the awesome service and their fun, positive attitudes! I would try something else though next time and would not order the "Classic Supreme" again. Next time I catch them and get to try another item, I will update my review for you all. Our office suite couldn't get to lunch until 12:45 and went down at exactly 12:45, but they were packing up and closed. It was food truck Wednesday again and these guys were waiting outside! I've had a rough week so a little comfort food was in order . I ordered a sandwich which had avocado, tomato, and bacon on it, along with some yummy cheese and some perfectly buttered and crunchy toast. The sandwich was good, but not worthy of a "Best of Phoenix" award. The sandwich was worth three stars, but their behavior knocked it down a notch. When I placed my order, I gave him a twenty as he said the total was twenty. He charged me for a buck fifty tip. I did not want to make a scene, or I would have complained then and there.
