Enter from the back and take the elevator down. There are several rooms here. I can see how this place has old school speak easy feel. We got the spinach artichoke cheese dip, calamari, beer flight, fish tacos, sliders, truffle fries, power bowl with blackened salmon. Too bad their Fog's Mac & Cheese comes with bacon and pulled pork, but it was possible to replace the meats grilled chicken with no up charge. They wouldn't let my FIL have two cheeses on his slider without added fees. Our dinner portion was $99.64. The spinach cheese dip is light on spinach and rather salty. It's so-so. I spilled the mason jar as it slipped out of my hand back onto the table. Oops. The water dumped enough all over the table and our dip and chips too. Guess we are done eating that then. We cleaned it up the best we could with the thin dinner napkins. No one came back by this check up on us and take care of the now water logged table. We should have put in our order earlier. The calamari is too bad, the meat is tender. Crust is just slightly crunchy. The fries are maybe a bit undercooked, wilted too. The sliders are good. The fish tacos aren't bad, meat is still tender. The rice is blah. The Mac & Cheese is good, creamy. Cavatappi noodles are a great noodle for this dish, holds creamy goodness in each bite. The grilled chicken is dry. The power bowl is meh, the veggies seemed to be sautéed in the sweet chili sauce, not for me, would have rather have a soy sauce based sauce for this power bowl. It was way too sweet for me. Always make it a point to stop in for a cocktail while I am in the area. I absolutely love the ambience. I sit at the bar and enjoy conversation with the bartender. Recently, I was with a group of ladies for dinner at 2 Fog's Pub. We were divided into two tables with two different servers. Unfortunately, we got the very annoyed, unfriendly, curt and not happy Emily. We placed our Happy Hour drink orders prior to the 5pm deadline. We had been told that if the server didn't get them into the computer before 5pm that the $2 discount would be impossible to give to us. We beat the deadline and were served the drinks. Later, I happened to ask Emily about the special and was told that we didn't get it because her system went down before she could enter it. Evidently no one there can override their system. So, instead of telling us this, she filled the orders and brought them out at full price, never uttering a word about it. I know several of us would have re-considered our orders if actually told about the "computer glitch" before she brought them out. After waiting forever for our food, we were finally served. Two people with the Wild Mushroom Chicken entrees were served tough, dry and fried to within an inch of its life chicken breast. All of which was cleverly hidden by the mushroom cream sauce. Emily begrudgedly took those back for replacements. Three of us got the French Onion Soup, which was so salty it was inedible (and I like salt.) I sent mine back. Imagine my surprise when it still showed up on my bill. When I asked for it to be taken off, I was told by the rude Emily that they don't comp food just because I didn't like the taste. I replied that it was so bad that no one could have eaten it. She huffed off to ask her manager about taking off the charges. Upon her return, I was told that (allegedly) the manager said they couldn't take it off. I have my doubts the manager was even asked, because I can't imagine anyone in charge of running a restaurant having that kind of attitude. Yes, I could have asked to speak to the manager myself, but it was a long day and I just didn't have any fight left in me. Bottomline, the poor food and even poorer waitstaff just cost 2 Fogs all of our business. None of us will be going there ever again. read more

We arrived at 6:50pm, it took 10 minute to get a drink and appetizer order in, took 30 minutes to get the drinks, another 10 for the appetizer, then came out with 3 soups, only my wife and daughter ordered soups for the BOTH of them, acted like it was my fault I didn't order soup. Finally got my sandwich at 7:45PM, and it was the wrong sandwich, I ordered the RIBBONS (a cubano) and pointed to the menu when I ordered, I got a reuben, fries were soggy. Just ate it because I just wanted to get out at that point. Won't be coming back. Expensive and not worth it. Also, my wife's bloody mary tasted fine, but it was thrown together with all the contents at the bottom. read more

Popped in for lunch while in the area, and it was solid! They had their brunch menu out, which was mostly some breakfast foods and sandwiches. It did have some unique flavors and items. My mom and I split a sandwich (comes with a side of potatoes or fries) and it was a good amount for us (we weren't super hungry). The Sleeping With the Fishes sandwich (soft shell crab sandwich) was tasty! Was a whole soft shell crab (legs and all) on brioche with maple aioli, arugula, tomato, avocado, and ranch. The maple aioli stood out and was an interesting sweet (but not too sweet) element. The potatoes were good, though we had ordered the fries (all good though). Water is served in mini mason jars and a full drink menu available as well (beer, wine, cocktails). The entrance took us a sec to find, as we thought it was on Grand River. It's actually via the back alley behind Grand River off Walnut, and you walk down the stairs there to the main entrance. From there, you enter the bar area first and then it seems like the restaurant kind of twists and turns into other spaces. Cool basement bar kind of vibe. read more

I really hate giving bad reviews but we vote with our $$ and mine is not going to be spent at 2 Fog's. The service was great. Ethan, our server, did a great job, as he has in the past, of waiting on us. The problem is with the prices being through the roof when only 2-3 months ago they were tolerable. I don't mind spending money on a nice dinner out, but I don't need to single-handed make payroll for the week with my meal. I know, the economy and inflation really stink. The wine pours were ... ugh, who even wants to report this about a restaurant. But cheap is cheap, and it feels like 2 Fog's is struggling. I'll wait to hear through the grapevine that things have improved before returning. I'm so sad because there's such ambiance and potential to be a great restaurant. read more

Haven't been here since the new ownership/covid. Servers are nice. Decent Beer list and Wine. Cocktails are ok. Most are a bit to sweet for my liking. Food - I feel the menu is pretty similar to my last visit. Unfortunately it is not very allergy friendly. Usually I can get Chicken most places, it's pre-marinated in garlic here. Options for me are very limited. Or for anyone with food allergy/intolerances from what I could see. I can't have Garlic or Gluten and it's pretty much on most of the sides. So salad it is. Yet they don't have Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Vinegar as an option. Or any Salad dressing that is gluten free Thankfully I had some in the car. When my food arrived, it was incorrect. I had ordered the salmon because it wasn't premarinated and instead I ended up with the Chicken which was marinated in garlic. So I had to ask for my salad to be remade which they hadn't planned to do. I love the Sauvignon Blanc. So I would come back for a drink. As far as food I think I will be going across the street where they have more options available and take allergy concerns more seriously. read more

We were invited to dinner with our friends. This was our first visit. He made the reservation for the 4 of us at 7pm. We arrived and found that it wasn't really a reservation. So we grabbed drinks at the packed bar and waited. Small space in a basement around a very large bar. The high top tables are squeezed in next to the bar. There are two additional rooms, one for private dining and another for general dining. Unfortunately, we were seated at the first high top next to the door to the kitchen and behind the hostess stand. It was cold and drafty with a lot of foot traffic around us, including nasty patchouli cologne from a patron that was lingering waiting for a table too. Man I could TASTE his cologne. Our waiter introduced himself but knew nothing about the specials, or soups when we asked. I think he thought his flamboyant airheadedness was charming but in this case it was just annoying. After he took our food order, we didn't see him again until it came time for the bill. I attempted to order a bottle of white. He returned and said they are out of that bottle. The wine list was small. It was the only Sauv blanc too. Ok. Revised the game plan. Ordered a red. That was out too but he couldn't tell me what they DID have. Chose another red. He brought drinks and took our order. He didn't use a note pad to take 4 orders which had us a bit nervous. Food arrived 45 mins later (ok they were packed and we were talking) but not from our server. This is when the manager appeared and told us that our (ladies) two DINNER salads we ordered from the specials menu was out. They should have told us long before our husbands had their hot food in front of them! She asked if she could get us something else then suggested comped salads. It all happened so fast. I was trying to say that "Idk what was available" and simple Caesar SIDE salads to replace Caprese prosciutto is no substitute. Not in substance or quality. My gf and I took what was suggested thinking they would at least be sizable nope. It was just a messy pile of a gunk. Not a dinner replacement. I paid the $130 bill for just us two and left hungry, freezing, and completely disappointed. Manager mentioned that she thought the server would have told us etc. Can't raise a stink when you're a guest to the party but this should have been handled so much better. read more

The chicken was breaded and the mushroom sauce was creamy and tasty. The broccolini was a bit undercooked/tough. My table also got the steak tips appetizer. It was ordered medium rare but was over cooked and had a chewy texture. The service was good, but the food was a little underwhelming. read more

I really like the Basement Speakeasy vibe and how the restaurant is set up. The spinach Artichoke dip came with pita points & tortilla chips and was delicious & definitely some of the best I've had. The Pretzel came with a homemade honey mustard & queso and was also unique & very good. Chicken fingers were homemade and amazing but the ranch was top 5 ranch dressings I've had in Michigan! My daughter got Beef Stroganoff and the noodles & sauce were good but the beef was unseasoned & extremely plain & was described as tasting grey. I tried & confirm that. I ordered a burger med rare, with Swiss & cheddar & bacon only on the burger. Specified no lettuce tomato pickles or onions on the burger, with fries & a side of pickles & onion. I got a burger with a bunch of wet lettuce & a load of pickles on the burger & missing the bacon entirely. As a side note the waitress did not write down any of the order. When she finally did come back I told her what was wrong & she asked if I wanted her to bring me a side of bacon & I said no just the side of pickles. Really i just wanted to eat a plain bacon cheeseburger while it was still warm without wet buns from a load of lettuce & pickles. Don't blame the kitchen when you don't write any of the order down. The service was slow & there was only 3 tables seated in the whole restaurant. The food we got was very good, f the service was as good as the food it would've been a 9/10 read more

A pretty cool spot to stop for good drinks and food. We arrived in a party of what ended up to be about 16 people (in for a sporting event held nearby). Finding the place was funny...parked on the street out front, only to have to walk around the block to the back and down some steps. Quickly seated though, as our crowd came in. I was a designated driver, but the tea was good, and no one was complaining about their beer or drink selections. We had plenty of apps, good entrees, burgers, this and that, and everyone was smiling afterwards. Very nice staff at the table taking care of us. Definately recommend! read more

Decided to go into downtown Howell after a morning of shopping at Tanger Outlet and wanted to kick back and relax. Used Yelp to find a cool place to chill and quench our thirst and landed here. My hubby and I were so excited to find this hidden gem. It has an old-time charm, easy music, and cool vibes. He had a Short's Local Light beer and I tried the Bootlegger's Lemonade. It was just right! We thought we'd go ahead and fill our bellies while we were at it, and boy were we glad we did. He had the Tuskers Burger and I had the Tomahawk Pork Chop. Mmmmmmmmmm good! Both were tasty, moist, and filling. We would definitely get these again so I had to take pics to remember! Now that we've found this place, we will surely be back...and with our friends! Girls lunch today and it was great! Started with Bruschetta which was so fresh and full of flavor. Nice crunch and drizzle of balsamic makes it. Also tried the special of Cheddar sage biscuits! Excellent! warm, crunchy outside light and fluffy on the inside. I also had the Taco salad which was good,alittle heavy on the dressing and I think I would try it with shrimp next time. 2 FOG's opened an outdoor tent (2 sides open) to comply with state COVID regulations. It was nice to have a place to go to! We went during lunch, so besides drinks we got the Mushroom Toast appetizer, Sliders and Lamb Burger. Oh, I should forget the Cream of Mushroom Soup, which was also delicious! We went right at opening hours (3pm on a Saturday), so the tent took a second to heat up, but considering we are in the 30's, that's quite a feat! This is by far our favorite place to dine and reconnect after our work week. Many happy and delicious memories here and they just keep out-doing themselves. FOGS is literally a place where you could close your eyes and point to anything on the menu and it would be extraordinary. We went at about 6:00 PM on a Sunday. They were decently busy and we were told unless we sat at the bar we would have a 20 minute wait. We sat at the bar and our waitress came to us pretty quick but she kept leaving us we would ask about the drinks she would answer then leave. We were ready to order food and everything but she just gave us our drinks and left. We finally got to order and she didn't write anything down (which is totally ok if you do it right). Our pretzel appetizer was good and came out fast. We then waited until 6:57 before we got our food. Two couples who ordered after we did got their food and were eating for about 10 minutes before we got our food. One of the couples even ordered steak which in theory should have taken longer than our sliders and burger. They did a last call for drinks 10 minutes before we got our food. The food was disappointing. The sliders were over cooked, they were supposed to have "caramelized onions" on them, the onions were barely cooked and were basically inedible. I just picked them off. The meat was very dry. We were never given silverware, napkins or anything like even when given our food, we reached over the bar and grabbed a few cocktail napkins. Our waitress never came back and checked on us, another young man who seemed to be a food runner or another waiter he checked on us a few times. I could see our waitress around at the bar but never saw her help us or the other couples near us. After we ordered she took the orders of couples near us and then just hung out at the other end of the bar and didn't seem to be concerned about any of us. She did announce last call after the other waiter had done it already. There are better places in Howell with way better service so go there instead, I'm honestly really disappointed because I really wanted to like Fogs. read more

While the food is usually good, the regular menu has become boring and stale. So, if the weekly specials aren't to your liking, then you're out of luck. The new owners adopted the menu from the previous owner and eliminated some great items, especially some of the great sandwiches the previous owners featured.
