Went for lunch on a Monday just before noon. The sign was up for please wait to be seated. After standing there for a while , a young girl passed, waved her arm, and said, just sit anywhere. We choose the brighter adjacent room. We waited for quite awhile for the server to deliver menus and take our drinks order, and then a very long time for her to return with a fountain drink and a water! On the plus side, she brought a cup of lemon wedges--which we did not want. She finally took our order and again we waited FOREVER for the food. My order was wrong--regular not pretzel bun and cheddar, not Swiss. Of course, she didn't return for a long time, and we needed to be somewhere, so I ate it. By the time she returned to see if everything was ok, it was almost gone! They did take $1 off the bill and offered that there was a new guy in the kitchen. I did not want to grow old waiting for a remake! They have disappointingly switched over to coated French fries. Their fries used to be good. These are not especially. All in all, it was a slightly unpleasant experience. I doubt we will be back soon. Seems there might be a staffing problem at this location--or a management problem. Regardless, there are plenty of other places where I can get a tiny overpriced hamburger made as ordered in less than an hour! If you go here--plan to spend some time (waiting)! read more

We arrived in time for happy hour so we ordered several appetizer items to share. The standout appetizer was the Brussel Sprouts which were loaded with bacon, blue cheese crumbles and a balsamic glaze. The sliders can be ordered with a gluten free bun or lettuce wrapped. Also you can sub out the burger for a chicken patty. Our server was great at explaining all the available options. They have an "Everyday Happy Hour," from 3-6 offering $7 Shareable appetizers and beer specials. We started with their Brussel Sprouts ,Cheese Curds,Pretzel bites and Pierogi apps. The sprouts were amazing! Topped with Bacon, Bleu cheese and a Balsamic reduction. Everyone in our party tried their beef sliders. The Smokehouse Slider was very good topped with pepper jack cheese,bbq sauce,onion ring and jalapeno. Most sliders cost under 6.00 . I did not realize this was in Brighton. But, we came to the Gilmore Girls weekend event which was amazing. They had an adorable stand outside with fun drinks. I got the founder's punch. I have not seen Gilmore Girls in 20 years, so I do not really remember much, but my child loves that show and I wanted to hang out with her. It was a nice drink, it is fun to have a district where you can walk around with a drink and enjoy the day. The drink was not too strong, pretty average, especially for the price. The coconut shrimp were delectable. I didn't realize the roasted brussels sprouts came with blue cheese, despite it being plainly written in the description. So glad I discovered this place! Went here with my sister to hang out and catch up. Went tried the pierogi appetizer, salmon slider and peanut buttter and jelly slider with a side of cheese curds . Everything was delicious! For the price, the amount of salmon you get is a great deal and the pbj slider was a sweet and savory bite of deliciousness. Service was a little rocky but there were other servers there that helped out. The place itself is pretty small so it makes for an intimate experience. I dined here on a weekday evening with a friend. We were looking for a quick bite to eat, and this place hit the spot. We made it in time for happy hour, which offered good prices on both appetizers and drink. I had a delicious old-fashioned, and we split an order of coconut fried shrimp. I believe that there were five shrimp in total--perhaps a bit low for the price. From there, we moved on to the sliders. I highly recommend them! I had the portabella with fried goat cheese as well as the mushroom and Swiss--both terrific! On a return visit, I would love to try the PB Jammin' as well as the Mac sliders. My fav non-traditional sliders were the fried perch and the turkey reuben. And there were so many that I didn't even get to try! First time at this restaurant where I came specifically for the Happy Hour (3 - 6pm 7 days a week) which this review is solely focused on. Relative to the Happy Hour menu, it includes draft beer, bottled beer, house wines, select classic cocktails and a very nice assortment of what they label as "Shareables" appetizers. Prices were very reasonable ranging from $3 - $6 for the alcohol depending on selection and $6 for the shareables. For our alcohol order my son got one of the draft beers for $3 which he he was very satisfied with and I got an Old Fashion for $6 which is what caught my eye and was the main reason for us trying Sidecar's Happy Hour. Regarding my Old Fashion, I would say it was good but falls short of a Top shelf drink but for the price, I was over the top happy as this is usually a $10 - $14 cocktail in this area. At this price it was a huge bargain which we all can use a little bit more of during these high inflationary times! My only gripe about the drink was that it had no cherry which I so look forward to munching on at the end of my drink. Considering the friendly cost of these drinks though, I forgive the ownership for this small oversight on their parts {: Regarding the food we ended up getting the pretzel bites with cajun seasoning and cheese sauce which was a fairly large portion size and the Coconut Shrimp with chili sauce (6 pieces). Both sharables were very tasty in my opinion and are an insanely good deal where our total bill came in at $23! SERIOUSLY $23 that included alcohol!!!! I think two large size Happy meals at McDonalds will run you $20 these days!!! Overall we were very pleased with our first experience at Sidecar and will definately be returning in the near future to partake in their Happy Hour (probably over and over again). First time. Arrived at 4pm and pleasantly surprised during happy hour. Many discounted shareable for $6, I selected the coconut shrimp (6) with chili sauce and pierogis (6) cheese filled, caramelized onions, bacon bits, and spicy sour cream. Draft beer Cheboygan lighthouse amber $4. The coconut shrimp was good, the chili sauce more sweet than spicy. Glad I tried the pierogis, but did not care for the spicy sour cream, I would recommend to have the sauce on the side. Great happy hour. read more

Spoiler. We left. We were ignored. We came in and they were pleasant and immediately helped us and sat us at the only table connected to the bar. We were helped once then completely ignored for 20mins. Bartender was personable but then it's like we didn't exist after he offered non alcoholic beer to my partner (he didn't like it). A few people came in after us and we're immediately helped. Even two waiters at a table. Two other couples got drinks and their orders in while we sat and waited. So we left. Food was pricy, wanted a good dinner and was a smaller menu. Drinks were also expensive and i saw how small they were served. Unfortunately my husband had to leave $20. Wouldn't even go back. So dissappointing. 6 sliders and a side of coleslaw. Waited 45 minutes for cold, crappy food. Mac slider, mush & Swiss, breakfast for me, and the little Havana, pulled pork, and their slider on special, chicken parm. Chicken for the chicken parm slider was "squeaky." Meats a circular patty like you'd get from the store. After 45 minutes and some looking around, the bartender said he'd check on our food since it should have came up a little after one of the other bar orders he took, and it didn't. Another 7 minutes and he comes back to tell us 'someone took half our food to another table', which is funny cause the bartender started writing orders down after this happened.. and had to ask us twice to see what he forgot.. so the first set of sliders we did finally get were cold and buns were hard. The second set was better bun-wise but they still missed one of my fiancés sliders. That pulled pork slider came out last with his coleslaw... Coleslaw portion is a JOKE. For $5 you get like 2 heaping tablespoons. I told him he should have told whoever brought it out to take it back cause that's not even 15¢ worth of cabbage for FIVE DOLLARS. The meat and buns are like, Gordon's brand. The Mac slider has two tiny Mac and cheese tater tots, not a wedge or anything like I expected. We got two free beers and a free order of fried shrimp (that only I eat cause my fiancé doesn't really like seafood of any sort). $40 to be so disappointed we went home to re-feed my fiancé dinner. I want to say I'm biased cause I work at a dive bar that sells sliders for $4.75 and they're GOOD quality ground meat from the butcher. .75¢ more got us cheap shit from the store. Will not be back. Even with all the nice reviews of this place... it's sad people settle for mediocre food anymore. That being said, the one star is for the "ambiance" as yelp calls it. They have extra beer taps on the wall at the entrance, which is cool. Pours are very light and the wait time for food once you order was extremely long. The waitress was nice and apologized for the managers behavior. You can't bring your drinks from downstairs to up stairs to meet the rest of your party or the manager will kick you out. They lost our whole party because one person brought a glass of wine from down stairs upstairs when the place was empty already. Second time this was a disappointment. Very disappointed in their upstairs bar, 120 West. My husband and myself went there in a gorgeous day last week and all the 2 tops were full. The couches were ALL available, but they would not let us sit there. Said they were for larger parties only. There was nobody waiting and we were only going to have some drinks. It was 3:30 in the afternoon on a Friday, so downtown wasn't busy at all. Not to mention it was during the construction time and we heard the businesses were hurting for business.....guess they just didn't want MY business. Not very many places to sit outside with a great atmosphere in Michigan, at least not on a date with just your husband. Guess you have to have a larger crowd to pony up to a comfy couch. I usually need a few visits to a restaurant to get a good feel for it. But I feel confident enough, after 1 visit, that I can give an honest review. This bar was clean, had great atmosphere, and the staff is bordering on Too attentive. The staff was pretty top notch. Drinks were good. We had 1 mixed drink and 1 beer. The food was cooked properly and came out hot. Menu was good too. Lots of options for everybody and some things that sounded very enticing. I'm sorry for this part of the review. Whoever came up with the recipes for some of these dishes should be fired. If you base the theme of your restaurant on burgers, the burger patty CAN'T be the worst thing on the menu. The burger patty is so bad, and it's half your menu. I got the 2AM (burger w/onion Pickle Ketchup Mustard), the little Havana (burger,ham,Swiss,Dijon), and fried chicken (chicken w/hot sauce,maple syrup, lettuce, pickle). Yes the burger was bad but the chicken was also not great. Cracker crumb coating that was reminiscent of Tyson frozen chicken tenders. The buns were toasted inside and out which made them dry. We also got loaded tots. Tots with chili, bacon, cheese, sour cream, green onions, jalapeño. Sounds great, but the chili tasted like plain ground beef. Everybody took 1 or 2 bites then pushed it aside. We liked the season pretzel. But even the chicken tenders (which I didn't try), they looked great, but when I asked my daughter how they were, she said, "eh". From the menu to the staff, everything about this place says success...... except the recipes. They can't survive with those burgers. You have a great, well-trained staff, I hope the food changes so this restaurant can thrive. read more

I was at this establishment today with my boyfriend and his family. The first time we came here wasn't the best experience so we decided to give it another go. The manager was unnecessarily rude ( the waitress apologized for his behavior, but why and how is this happening in the first place? Shouldn't the manager be setting the proper standards? ). There seems to be rules around drinks at the rooftop versus drinks downstairs, but customers don't need to be treated like criminals and kicked out for misunderstandings, especially if it's a group of people who are looking to spend their time and money on dinner. Going out for dinner is expensive for the average family. What happened to hospitality, and treating customers with some respect? read more

I have eaten here a couple of times. Today I found the bartender(a male) dismissive, cold and treated some customers second rate.

First time here and everything was yummy. I had the breakfast beef slider. The bacon and egg toppings were well balanced by the jam. I thought the bun was fine, next time I'll try the pretzel bun. My two friends both thought the dirty bird was good. The sweet potato fries were narrow and crispy. Perfect. I hope this place makes it. read more
