People who complain about the spa not being connected to the main facility & sauna not being that good are being unreasonable. Ignore the negative comments. I tasted hers and immediately hated myself because it was so good! I had a really well made rye manhattan afterwards - that guy can mix a great drink! And, the cocktail glasses were so classy! 1 star was removed because I ordered the mussels as my entrée and they came out when I was barely halfway into my soup. That is a big pet peeve of mine as I like to finish my appetizer, sit for a few minutes, and then go to the main course. I don't love it when the main is sitting there getting cold as I'm trying to finish my first course. For that reason, I sent them back. We never received written or electronic confirmation of our reservation nor the final bill despite calls and emails request it. Management was absent throughout the 5 days we were there. There was just a phone number posted on the locked office door to call. At booking we were not advised that there would be no housekeeping services. Wet, used towels were left for three days when new towels were finally provided. Overgrown bushes blocked driver's view when trying to exit the property onto a well traveled road. Piles of leaves, overgrown grass and long dead branches abound on the property. Balconies littered with dried leaves piles. Lighting and fixtures were intermittent and falling apart. Unfortunately 2026 marks the last time we will return to the Inn. A word to the wise....

Disappointing business practices! I booked online using the Union Bluff website, and because I…read morechanged my room type a couple of times during the booking (trying to decide on the loveliest one), the system defaulted my travel date to the day I was putting in my reservation (that same day) as opposed to my actual travel date the following month, and I didn't realize it at the time. Two weeks later I came upon the error when I noticed an invoice in my Email box for the hotel stay that of course had not actually happened yet. Since I had obviously never arrived, and never used the room, I reached out to the hotel in hopes that they would honor the money I had already paid for the date of my actual travel. Instead, I was told there was nothing they could do, that their "system doesn't allow it", and that unfortunately, I had to forfeit the almost $200 for a room that I never stayed in for a trip that I hadn't taken yet. Terrible business practice for an honest mistake on my part, and as someone who travels to Maine regularly as it's where I grew up, and where many family and friends still live. They have lost not just me as a customer, but an entire family and network.

The hotel room was clean, it is a nice place to stay, and the location is great.

We had two double beds and it was comfortably sized (along with a little cafe type table and 2 chairs). The tub is old. Clean but old. Tub and toilet are in the bathroom, the vanity/sink are outside of the bathroom - just for reference. This worked well for us, and can work well for families trying to shower/get ready separately but simultaneously. Location is fantastic. Right across from the gorgeous ocean. Roaring waves, beautiful sounds and sights. I loved the location. Plenty of restaurants, even off-season, to visit VERY close by. Nubble light is in view from the hotel (and is just minutes away by car). Gorgeous. They have a little bar/cafe inside the office/pool building. The bar is pricey in a way that makes zero sense. Bartender, while nice, probably isn't a bartender at all and is just assisting in that area as there was really no knowledge of beverages to make/mix and no rhyme or reason to pricing. No where to sit to enjoy them unless you sit in the pool area which is WARM (heated pool, so it's nice for swimmers) and noisey as all get out if there are many swimming. Pool seemed nice, though we didn't use it (outdoor pool is closed right now due to the season). All in all, we would stay again. Our rooms were ready VERY early (so great) and we received text messages to alert us, so we were able to check in well before our time and we appreciated that a lot.

A few days with her itinerary suggestions will have you feeling like a 2 week vacation in 48 hours. For what I could tell there are 2 outdoor pools, one indoor pool and a larger hot tub. There seems to be a lot of weddings there. I believe like 3-4 a weekend. The grounds were very well cared for and there were different activities throughout the day you could participate in. The location is a little remote which is nice, but hard to explore being that it was our first time in Maine. The food was pretty good for the most part. We liked the food better at The Tiller than Nubb's. The drinks are really tasty, but can get spendy. We overall really enjoyed our visit and stay at Cliff House. Rating would be 4.25

They upgraded us to a really lovely room. The location is excellent - across the street from the ocean. The furnishings were old (in a good way), heavy, wood pieces that really contributed to the place feeling warm and homey. The beds were superior. The shower pressure was strong. The sharing living room with fire place was so comfortable. The breakfast was top shelf. Homemade coffee cake and apple cake and blueberry muffins. Homemade pancakes one morning. Everything about breakfast was great - and included in the room cost. They have a restaurant and a pub in the main building. We ate at both. The staff were wonderful. The servings were more than ample (the bean and goat cheese salad was enormous, and the mussels appetizer was super generous). I had the ravioli with seafood, which was delicious. My husband loved the mussels. The crab cakes were truly full of crab meat, not filler. Our servers were relaxed, helpful, and friendly - making our dining even more enjoyable. We, as long as others, were doing laps around the main lot and the mini lot for the Harbor Hill Inn trying to find a spot. We ended up having to park on the street because there were not enough spots at Harbor Hill. When checking in, we were told there are enough spots for each room, yet the lot for our Inn was completely full. We were also told that if we found a spot, we shouldn't move the car. We wanted to explore the area more, so we did have to leave, it is odd to me that an Inn doesn't have a better parking situation for Inn patrons. We thought it would be fun to go to the pub for apps and a drink before our dinner reservation at the main restaurant. Unfortunately, we were met with an hour long wait for 2 at the pub. I do find it interesting when an Inn doesn't open up reservations or spots for their own guests to dine, rather than locals. When we did go to our dinner reservation, we had a nice time. Our waiter was helpful. When the food came, they brought out a wrong dish. The boy that brought it out told us he wished we said something before he put it on the table because now the dish couldn't be used. We weren't able to tell it wasn't the right dish until it was in front of us.... we then waiting 15 minutes for the right food to come out. Our waiter had them remake my meal as well since it got cold, which was nice. The food was great once we finally had it. They also comped 50% of the wrong dish which was also nice. After dinner we had drinks and headed back to our room to go to bed. A phone call woke us up. It was the front desk; they told us that "Someone came into the lobby furious that our room is being so loud. They said that last night, this morning and this evening we have been ridiculously loud." I told the person on the other line that we have been asleep in bed, and we only checked in this evening. I find it curious that the front desk wouldn't look who was in the room and if we had even been there the day prior. Then, instead of offering an apology, they said "well do you hear any noise?" I said earlier the room next to us was making some noise but nothing like they are describing. They then said, "well which side, right or left?" I said I do not know I need to go back to bed. Pretty unbelievable, and something that hasn't even happened to me at a cheap hotel. I wish I walked away feeling better about our stay, but it is in a beautiful location...

Ocean side stay, recently renovated, quirky interiors, fun bar downstairs, lots of cool art, and one of the baddest ass coffee makers in a room I have ever seen. Total win!! As we wandered around the northeast on our last vacation we just happened upon this place for a night stay. It was perfect for what we needed. Ocean views and a patio to see them from. Score!! Bed was comfy. Loved the accent lighting above the bed. Super cute inside and out. It was a great repurpose of an old outdoor motel from back in the day. I love how they flipped it and made the old hallways the balcony. Stupid smart design idea. In room coffee maker is freaking cool as hell!
